  1. New guy seller...listed 4 watches on his first day here...

    Untagged pics

    "Gen" box & papers claim

2 buyers so far without any responses from seller...Both of which are newbies too...

Hopefully I'm wrong, but you've been around even longer than I have...(10 days!!)LOL

  2. isn't it odd......That my definitely NOT "U" Po from @ 5 years ago, for under $100., has some of the brightest long lasting lume of all my many reps..?? (Second only to my V 1.5 Ploprof)

    IMG_5588.jpg

And now after literally DOZENS of version modifications, from all over the galaxy, the new ones come with wimpy lume!!...(But NO happy feet!!)I have been following, with great amusement, the "UPO Follies" for over 5 years now, watching folks spend up to 4 figures and sometimes even MORE, just to end up with a SLIGHTLY "better" fake watch than the next guy.

To add even ANOTHER oddity to the mix, my "ECPO"(el cheapo planet ocean)STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL rep crown and tube, and it still screws down tightly!!

WTF China!!...Can't you effin' guys even remember back when you could make them RIGHT...???

I'm beginning to suspect that Omega itself is behind this fiasco, secretly pushing out worser and worser Chinese versions, simply to sell thousands of their overpriced "original dials, hands, crystals, bracelets, clasps, and crowns and tubes to us "frankenfools"...!!

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they make more money selling parts to us than they do selling complete watches to the rest of the world!! :bangin: :bangin: :bangin:

  3. Hey man,

Bummer about the rep. I would suggest contacting the dealer, I have always had them take of things but patience is the key, it takes a while but I would imagine it would get handled. The Valjoux 7750 is a great movement and I am sure you will get it taken care of. welcome to the board and you will get a lot of help from the folks.

    Good Luck,

    Rob

The Swiss version is indeed a GREAT Movement, but alas, the Asian copies suffer from a spotty, at best, reputation....If you truly believe that the A7750 is a good movement, you should read some more..Or, do like I did and buy a few, and find out the hard way!!!
  4. My 2cents:

Before you buy a watch so equipped, ask yourself if you'd spend an extra $200.00 up front for it...

so that $275.00 rep suddenly becomes a $475.00 rep!!

IMNSFHO, I refuse to buy ANYTHING that I know is going to, automatically, almost double in cost, just to function properly...

And even "properly" functional A7750's often experience premature failure if you decide to do something as "outrageous" as use the functions built into it...like the stop watch feature!!

  5. The Pam 036 rep has been around "forever".....Here's mine from Sead @ 3 yrs ago...:

    IMG_0003.jpg

    IIRC Dsn still offers them...

    Here's a great link on the 036:

BTW....The CG was modded by me to give the top surface the correct curvature(It came dead flat), and the purplish AR inside the crystal was removed (if you look closely you can see a trace on the right edge of the crystal, that has since been removed)

  6. I thought it was just me.....

But when I started reading this thread, I was amazed to see some of the "old guard" posters joining in the reunion!....

The hobby has changed dramatically, with a lot of new folks adding a lot of new ideas, and a lot of new reps showing up, for a WHOLE LOT of money by the standards of just a few years ago!!

As I type this, I'm wearing my Arktos 21J that I have worn often over the past 4 years, that only cost me $70.00, and it still is tight, clean, and accurate...

The only watch I have bought recently in my 21J Ploprof, and I only bought that because I've been looking for one for @ 30+ years, and at $149.00, it was a steal!!!

I'm amused at how anal many of the new guys are about such mundane stuff as a/r colors, and lume brightness.... and watching the "Planet Ocean Follies" evolve over @ 5 years, has become a daily source of entertainment for me...My $75.00 edition from '06 still looks almost as good as any of the dozens of iterations I have seen evolve over that period...

So I'll keep on reading, and maybe posting once in a while....And maybe even buy another watch or two...Who knows....

And maybe someday the words "franken" and "ultimate" will revert to their true meanings......

  7. Invicta has come "full circle"!!...back to Swiss movements....Here's a 1950's model from my junk box:

    IMG_6750-1.jpg

It has a 21j HW A.Schild non quickset date movement....Pretty, but only @ 34mm wide....

BTW....That D/D modular movement is GREAT .....until it needs a service...

My Omega Dynamic chrono has one, and most quotes I got were in the $400.+ range for a simple service and adjustment.....Apparently NOBODY opens up one of those modules!!

  8. One can tell you never owned a proper regulated and serviced A7750 watch. ST-19s aren't as sensitive for regulation issues. Therefor they are less likely to have problems. The ST-19 is a bullet proof movement but also misses some important functions. Like comparing the 6497 to a 28xx series. They're totally different.

You're absolutely right!!!....There's no way I'm going to buy a rep that I need to spend enough to buy ANOTHER rep on, just to get it to run properly for a reasonable period of time!!

In my reality, I expect the watches I buy to be ready to run reliably from day one....Would you buy a new car, knowing that you had to spend a bunch of money on to run correctly right off the lot...???

IMNSFHO, this whole myth that it's OK for the dealers to sell defective merchandise is bogus!!

  9. A simple answer: If you MUST have a working chrono, but quartz or Seagull HW ST-19's....I learned my lesson early in my rep collecting days with a really nice LOOKING 212...It had a low beat POS A7750, which NEVER ran worth a $hit!!

Conversely, I have owned dozens of ST-19's, and have no problems with them...

Fortunately, I despise everything Hublot, so I've never even been tempted to get "banged"..
