  1. Once again I would ask:

Why are folks who are using the forum primarily as a "sales for profit" vehicle allowed to function without becoming trusted dealers..??

One would wonder how long a guy who went to Canal St., and bought $50.00 watches would be allowed to sell them here at $100.00??

    My point being:

Regardless of the price range and quality of the watches, a dealer is still a dealer...And allowing them to sell their wares on our for sale board creates a tacit sense of approval among our newer members...

    Just my 2c worth.... :nono:

  2. He was given the watch by members of his Secret Service detail. His (unlike the ones for sale) has the Secret Service logo on the dial.

In the states (as opposed to the EU) our politicians try and avoid flashy stuff...both Clinton and GW Bush wore Casio G-Shock watches and Timex dress watches.

I wonder if it was Matt...??? :pimp: :pimp:
  3. I still cannot understand why folks who are here almost exclusively to engage in profit oriented sales, are not required to become TD's...

It seems to usually be folks who prey upon the weaknesses of dedicated hobbyists who are striving to own that "perfect rep"(that'll NEVER exist!), and are not skilled or knowledgeable enough to build their own...

As a person who lurks at the lower fringes of the hobby, and has (and likely will never!!) never paid more than $200. for a rep, I have no skin at all in the game, but I still feel that the forums owe the other guys some diligence.

The actions of the admin here in this instance, has been well thought out, and actually a bit liberal compared to what I've seen done in other places in the past.

Allowing such activities can often be interpreted as being a tacit endorsement of them, in the eyes of the newer guys who haven't been around long enough to develop a "sense of smell" when reading F/S ads...

  4. hi,

the bezel was about EUR 50,--. It will be changed soon because it is a bit bent.

total amount for all genuine parts (some NOS, and incl. movement ) EUR 550,00

all found on diffent online auctions ...

That's a bargain compared to what some of these modders spend on a"UPO" project...But how can you put a monetary value on that case...???...It's magnificent!!!

  5. WoW!!!......That came out even nicer than the counterfeit ones from Viet Nam from last century...

One would imagine that if you were to add up your labor costs on that, it'd be a sizable number...

there is no way that you could mass produce those cases at any reasonable cost...This one is truly a work of art!!

  6. The genuine Omega vintage collectors must be going crazy now that such an accurate rep is available!!

This watch was highly sought after by gen vintage collectors for years, and was also frequently "counterfeited" by some shady operators.

Now...Everybody can have one!!...Poof!!...there goes THAT one's "cachet".....
