  3. Can anyone point out what is not accurate with the BP 5001? I'm not familiar with IWCs at all so some pointers would be useful than just saying it is not accurate. thanks.
  4. Hi Pls pardon this noob question as I am new to Omega. I have noticed in a friend's Omega Seamaster (not sure if it's a rep or gen) that the seconds hand moves in 5 seconds increment meaning it will jump from 5 to 10 but with a smooth movement, is this how the movement is like ? Or is the movement supposed to sweep smoothly? How is the movement in the rep then? Please advise. Thanks
  5. a reader commented on the story about Ebay being fined for A$60m by a French court. This is his story : Basil Fawlty of Fawlty Towerz, Are you one of the scam artist owners of ebay? I tried to buy a REAL Rolex Watch and paid $10000 for it. What did I end up with? A FAKE Rolex Watch. I noticed and asked ebay for a refund. They refunded me $2680. Not a very good deal I must say. Posted by: Rufus Rekka of Australia 8:33am today Poor bloke. Why would anyone buy a $10K Rolex on ebay I wonder. Full story in http://www.news.com.au/comments/0,23600,23950456-401,00.html

  7. hi, i have a B&M riviera which I got recently from Joshua. Have noticed that even with wearing it for a full day, in the morning at 8:05 am the watch would have stopped running. Once I set the time past 8:20 am it seems to run fine and does that for the whole day and night until the next morning at the same time. It's really bizarre. Strange thing is that in the evening it seems to be ok, it would just run past 8:05 pm without any problems ,only in the morning. Can anyone offer any suggestions / help? I'm not keen to send it back to the dealer. The watch has not been serviced before. Cheers nick
  8. Hi Ken, Yes quite aware that it's on the 11 May. Today's the 2nd and from experience I had received watches in about 5 days so if assuming i order today, it might arrive next week.i know i'm pushing it... if i can't then it will be something else from the shops. Nick
  9. Hi, Noticed that Joshua (Perfect Clones) sells gucci bags in his website. Just wondering if anyone out there has bought any bags from him and if so how is the quality like? Is it cheap imitation or really good stuff like the watches. Mothers' day is coming up and thought of getting one for her. Thanks, Nick
  10. Have a read : http://www.hublot.com/hublot_prod/site/hub...lot_replica.pdf Apparently Hublot concedes that the high end fakes are not easily distinguishable from the gen apart from looking at the movement. So unless you take off your high end rep most can't pick it's rep ?
  11. i love DJ too. how accurate are the DJs from the cartel? what are the major flaws if any? i tried looking for some reviews of DJs but there's very little. it might help my quest...
  12. thanks giorgio! to know that "this is on par with a $50 Timex" is enough to make me
  13. hi, I'm thinking of getting this rep from paul. http://www.pam111.com/product_info.php?cPa...roducts_id=1154 has anyone bought this before and could you post some pics of it? can the experts pls comment abt the accuracy. this rep is a manual wind which is the same as the gen; apart from that just looking at some of the pics in the internet i can't pick any diff. thanks,
  14. you're right in that premium markups are due to exclusivity which drove supply and demand. However even though the brand name is established, the marketing hype needs to be kept up otherwise some other brand will overtake them.it's the competition with other brands that drive most marketing. those sponsored events are still ongoing year by year and it's costing them in terms of current marketing budgets. the point is not how many people watch those races but the fact is that companies pay lots of $$$ to sponsor them. but most people would have watched F1 races? and you would have noticed Tag heuers ads? perhaps ? perhaps not. can anyone in marketing/sales/advertising put in some comments ? just curious.
  15. what's the law in the UK for buying stolen goods through ebay perhaps unknowingly? anyone?
  16. just came to mind LV sponsors the America Cup yacht races,it's called the Louis Vuitton Cup. That would have costs some serious dough.
  17. it's cool to disagree. but perhaps you have not heard of corporate sponsorships (which are truly marketing events) that runs up millions of dollars. for instance ,for over 28 years rolex has sponsored the Grand-Am endurance race at Daytona International Speedway. i'm sure LV sponsors other sporting events. true it's word of mouth but it's more than meets the eye. for example every logo you see in the F1 races is paid for, be it on a helmet or even a cap. it's very expensive to make the brand known.
  18. yes there is: the costs in developing the brand name. most things don't cost much to make but making it known around the world takes a bit of money.same with rolex and all the other big brands.
  19. amen to that.
  20. interesting that you should bring this up. How many of us consciously or sub consciously pass off our fakes as gens? It's a conscious decision. if i want to pass off reps as gens,i go out and buy the rep that would most likely fool the average joe. part of that decision would be to buy perhaps a lesser brand rep which is made very well e.g double ar,sapphire glass,ss (no gold or diamonds). no point getting the watch that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and drive a beat up car. otoh when i don't care to pass off the watch as gen, i would wear the expensive reps e.g rollie full gold. so i can say from my own experience it's a conscious decision.fyi i have both types of watches in my collection, theb bling watch and the more easily pass-off as gen watch. How many times you see someone wearing a watch and cant quite make up your mind if its a gen? that depends on the quality of the watch.hard to judge by what the person wears but a combination of the person's age, dress, general appearance, car he drives, places he's seen in etc may give a clue but still not conclusive. How many times someone sees your watch and thinks "wow thats a lovely watch, I bet its expensive"? dunno. if it's me,i know the brand so it's not hard to know if it's an expensive watch.also at my age and with the crowd i move with we don't ask. it's just bit crass . you might think that but you never ask the question.
  21. so does that mean we'll be seeing some good buys in EBAY ....woohoo
  22. Sorry if this is a dumb question as I'm still a noob but is there a rep watch with quartz movement that has smooth sweeping second hand like in the automatic? Can you please provide examples and which dealer carries them ? Thanks,
  23. sometime posting no price tags just means that the prices are negotiable...
