  1. As a follow up, I replaced the Clutch wheel which, when looked at under a loupe, was ever so slightly worn. It looked very normal to the naked eye... No more jumping.
  2. You are the man! Thanks for your assistance!
  3. Thanks! Having a tough time searching lately...Must be getting old...
  4. On manual winders, I remove the stem as Mr. Toad corrected in the setting position. Thanks for the response.
  5. By the way, the Dial arrived safely....Thanks!
  6. I have two watches currently. The first one I got and then a parts watch to play with. I'll take the guts out of the first one to put together a solid rep then take the case with the push pins to convert the 250.... Thanks for the info....I guess I can keep the roller pin for my 250.....
  7. Which modern Pams come with the crown guard lever that has the roller in it?
  8. Before I pull the crown from a 7750 or 7753 I wanted to know if I pull while in the time setting position or when in the winding position like on ETA 6497s. Please confirm. I seem to have seen it done both ways... Thanks in advance.
  9. We tend to tell Noobies to use the search function prior to asking very common questions, but I am struggling to use the current search engine myself. As an example, when putting in "watch winder" it finds everything associated with the word watch in the title or text body, but does not narrow the search to posts which have both words. Maybe I need to learn HTML? I also put "watch+winder" in an effort to narrow the search. What am I doing wrong here? Help?
  10. I think there are two things happening. 1. There is an underlying assumption about fit and finish of Swiss parts that may or may not be true. I have seen both Swiss and Asian movements that worked extremely well and with the 6497, the parts are mostly if not completely interchangeable. On the negative side, some of the materials of the Asian movements seem to be of lesser quality and therefore, some of the issues I personally have had with these movements have been metalurgical in nature. YMMV 2. There is some arrogance in our hobby that forces us (Myself included) to shun Asian movements in general, even in Reps. On some watches, you cannot properly replicate the functionality of the original without going Swiss but it tends to get expensive. Ask me about my 250 Panerai conversion. For me, it is mostly number two. There is something about knowing that even though I did not pay 5K for a watch, it has a very similar, if not the same movement as the $5K watch but only costs a fraction. I buy watches, both GEN and Rep because of the look and the movement. Therefore, it makes sense in my mind to go Swiss...
  11. We knew that. Just sharing what needs to be done for either one...
  12. Please send contact info. Not sure I knew about this before.
  13. Thanks for that. I went into Tourneau last night looking at Gens and I picked up a Guilloche dial and pronounced it Gill-Osh with a long 'O' just like the sound bite and was promptly corrected by the somewhat knowledgeable salesman who pronounced it Gill-O-Shay. Now, I have french language in my background and knew he was wrong but I did not have the heart to tell him and of course began to doubt my own knowledge, hence the search this am.....
  14. Interesting site: http://www.chronometrie.com/watchsounds/watchsoundspage.htm
  15. I found this link interesting. Some may have seen this before, but for those that want a brief history of the venerable 7750: http://www.watchbizz.com/archive/wt_2008_03/WT_2008_03_156.pdf
  16. Oddly enough, it worked today....Thanks!
  17. It gave me a "denied" when I tried to access it. Seems to require a password to login? I'll try again....
