  1. Oh the irony...... hello kettle. Glad to see this work out. It surprises me that people send e-mails over picking up the phone when things are not going right....... sure seems direct realtime communication is the only route to follow when things start going off course of expectations. Props to both of you for this ending.
  2. You may very well have hit the nail on the head with that last sentence. Since Mark has both datewheels (flat and teeth sticking down) it would appear opening up and having a look at whats currently in the watch is the only real way to know what one needs. Thanks for adding some clarity.
  3. Thanks for the reply, I'll have my guy open up my 063 and take a look. So, from what I'm reading the 2893 DW from Mark will most likely be recessed? Since some people seem to have received recessed when they need flat or vice versa people may want to post up and possibly trade with someone that may have received the one they need.
  4. I don't have my watch in hand to compare. Its been sitting with a modder waiting. To say this is a bit disturbing is putting it mildly. Chieftang - did you pick up your 2893 during the GB with EL about 7-8 months ago?
  5. I'm confused (which isn't hard for me)..... are you saying that the datewheels we were told would fit the 2893 may not actually fit? :cc_confused:
  6. Well no responses to e-mails and his PM box being full doesn't allow one to know if they were in the first mailing or am suppose to be waiting. I was told March 1st it would be going out the next week. How many people are still waiting for their DW's from Mark? Anyone receive one recently? Anyone heard anything new from Mark? I can be patient when things are communicated.
  7. OK, everyone be honest.... how many times have you checked this thread today? Everytimes somebody posts the view counter jumps about 500. LOL
  8. PM box is full..... would love to pick up a 2893/063 datewheel if any are left and available. Thanks!
  9. Started with a MBW 1680 and thought I would make a few mods. After sourcing several gen parts I discovered I was in way over my skill ability. This project was sent to Joe prior to him taking ill and all of the hoopla that has seem to be associated with him. I don't have a horse in that race. Other than the very long time to complete the mods my experience working with Joe was fine and I was comfortable with the wait. Gen tropic Gen insert Gen crown Gen springbars lugs drilled crown guards shaped I have a Gen white dial that I was going to use but after some serious discussions on the look I wanted I decided to leave the Red Singer dial. I just plain like the look of the red dial better. Still sporting the original MBW datewheel but am excited that some of the very distinguish members here are ferverishly working on a possible correction for that. I bow to their greatness. May I introduce to you "Red" :
  10. The excitment is building. I think I just wee'd my pants a little. Everyone of you who have a hand in this project, no matter how small, need to be recognized for your unselfish contribution. You are about to make many of us very very happy. Thank You for taking this on. Count on at least one here when ready.
  11. Whoops, sorry RT, I misread your post. Thanks for the clarification Devedander. Yes, sometimes outside forces clog the gears. I think the package Neil is refering to was posted around the middle of Oct EMS. Its been sitting in customs since Oct 30th. Sucks but what ya gonna do? Should establish a madatory agreement with anyone who joins these forums..... attempt to settle any dispute with your dealer first then bring it to the forum if resolution is not reached.
  12. I would respectfully disagree with your assessment of this watch being "way past due". I wouldn't even consider one of our drop shippers being "way past due" if only 12 days had past. There is plenty of history for any resonable person to know what to expect from Neil. I personally prefer having someone "look it over" prior to shipping vs a super quick delivery time but thats me. What gets me is why anyone in this hobby would not try and resolve their complaint first with the dealer and second with the forum before taking actions that effect all of us. Too many "its all about me" people getting in the door IMO.
  13. Everything I take apart always has a few extra parts left over when I'm done. Why would I even think about trying to service my own movements? Yes, there are things that are best left to the professionals.
  14. $500? About a 40% increase? Wow! Looking like a fully modded MBW with gen parts will now be costing close to the gen. LOL!
  15. Taken from the USPS web site: 3.2 Evidence of Value The customer, either the mailer or the addressee, must submit acceptable evidence to establish the cost or value of the article at the time it was mailed. (Other evidence may be requested to help determine an accurate value.) Examples of acceptable evidence are: a. Sales receipt, invoice or bill of sale, or statement of value from a reputable dealer. b. For items valued up to $100, the customer's own statement describing the lost or damaged article and including the date and place of purchase, the amount paid, and whether the item was new or used (only if a sales receipt or invoice is not available). If the article mailed is a hobby, craft, or similar handmade item, the statement must include the cost of the materials used in making the item. The statement must describe the article in sufficient detail to determine whether the value claimed is accurate. c. Picture from a catalog showing the value of a similar article (only if a sales receipt, invoice, or statement of value from a reputable dealer is not available). The date and place of purchase must be included. d. Paid repair bills; if the claim is for partial damage, estimates of repair costs or appraisals from a reputable dealer. Repair costs may not exceed the original purchase price. e. Receipt or invoice for the costs incurred to buy a surety bond required to reissue a lost item. f. Receipt or invoice of costs incurred for the reconstruction of nonnegotiable documents. g. A copy of a canceled check, money order receipt, credit card statement, or other documentation indicating the amount paid. For Internet purchases, a copy of the front and back of the canceled check, money order, or a copy of the credit card billing statement is required. h. For Internet transactions conducted through a Web-based payment network that offers payment services through a stored value account, provide a computer printout of the online transaction identifying the purchaser and seller, price paid, date of transaction, description of item purchased, and assurance that the transaction status is completed. The printout must clearly identify the Web-based payment network provider through which the Internet transaction was conducted.
  16. I think the Egyptians would argue it was the camel but you're right...time to move on.
  17. I thought clasifying the Moss 500 as a "real" gun was the funniest part of this thread. ROFLMAO....... history sure doen't support your theory!
  18. I have this watch too and as others have said the date mag is somewhat lacking. Still a beautiful watch. Some more info here..... Regatta Review
  19. Cabbage, are you saying you told Joe to send you your watches back and he hasn't?
  20. Gee, did someone bring something new to the table in the last week or so? Just what point of view are you going for? Talk about beating a dead horse.
  21. Another good one here if you're in the states. Official U.S. Time Clock
  22. Exactly what I was thinking. I also love how he says its was a gift but too expensive for his wife to wear. First, who gives Pams for presents to people who wouldn't wear it? Second, I'd like to meet this woman that won't wear it because its too expensive...... there's no such woman. lol I think the old saying "I was born at night just not last night" may be appropriate here.
