  5. If any one has a 44mm hand wound pam in bits right now, could they tell how much thread they can see from the end of the crown to where the thread stops on the stem as long as you have more than 2.3mm of thread then the stem extender will work

  8. In Germany there is a program called "Mein Revier" about customs officers and polices ect and i have seen them remove a weight peoples jewelry, question about laptops and watches and make a judgment on the condition of the items and charge import tax, now i also travel frequently and i have never been questioned about what i have on my wrist but we have seen in another post that this happens in France and Germany at least, so i would like to know the actual rules in case it does happen. I did get stopped on the motorway coming out of Switzerland by french customs on a motor bike and lead to a control point, there they asked if i had more then 10000€ in cash on me, well i can tell you when i had picked my self up from the floor laughing he let me go.
  9. You know today i had to rip my harley motor out and take it apart to the last part (crank problem) i used to take watches off so i dont mark the bike with them, i did not even think of taking this watch off, then i went bush hogging in my garden still with it on, lots of dirt and hard work! ,it just wants to be worn for every thing. I used to think a 16800 was the best as it was sapphire with the older dial but the plexi is just so nice to look through.
  10. A photo i edited earlier seams appropriate And i gen pic i found earlyer while surfing
  11. I tell you what though, if a customs officer wanted to keep a watch of mine as i always carry a tool kit, he would not have a wearable watch!
  12. Situation a, i think is an open and shut case but the other two? you are not doing any thing wrong, you are not trying to profiteer, it would be good to know what to have in order to keep the customs at bay
  13. There is a really good post from gioarmani about 7750 regulation
  14. could be, but how hot would it have to be to do that to a case?
  15. looks like it was attacked with acid or something, and a grinder, i wonder what his arm looks like
  16. I have a friend who has just past her customs exams i think i will pose the question to her
  17. If the watch is perfectly in beat then just winding the watch should provide enough impulse for the watch to start on its own but some times the balance needs a little rock
  18. A few situations a, I live in the EU, I go on holiday to the states buy a new daytona and bring it back on my wrist, on this i would have to pay import tax, happy b, I live in the EU, I go on holiday to the states, i fly out with a gen double red on my wrist that has been in my family since 1969 (i wish) and i fly back with the same watch, i cant provide a receipt for the watch at the airport and the papers are in the safe what happens if you have a dick of a customs officer. c, I live in the states and i fly to the EU for a GTG with a box of vintage rollys, i have no intention of selling any and i can prove ownership for them all and i am only stopping in the EU for 2 days, I am assuming here that i should go through the red channel and declare what i am carrying, but am i liable to pay import tax for something that i am not going to sell and will be leaving the EU 2 days later. What are the rules, what proof of owner ship or age would be required?
  19. This has got me thinking, do we have an expert on tax and import here? A few situations a, I live in the EU, I go on holiday to the states buy a new daytona and bring it back on my wrist, on this i would have to pay import tax, happy b, I live in the EU, I go on holiday to the states, i fly out with a gen double red on my wrist that has been in my family since 1969 (i wish) and i fly back with the same watch, i cant provide a receipt for the watch at the air port and the papers are in the safe what happens if you have a dick of a customs officer. c, I live in the states and i fly to the EU for a GTG with a box of vintage rollys, i have no intention of selling any and i can prove ownership for them all and i am only stopping in the EU for 2 days, I am assuming here that i should go through the red channel and declare what i am carrying, but am i liable to pay import tax for something that i am not going to sell and will be leaving the EU 2 days later. What are the rules, what proof of owner ship or age would be required? I think i will make a separate thread for these questions
  20. I have seen German customs question people about when a where they bought items they were carrying, and charge them tax on what they bought in to the country. Personally i always travel with 3 watches, wearing one and 2 in my luggage and i could only prove that i owned them before by photos in my photo bucket account
