  1. Yep strings of glue can be a problem, i always clear with my finger under the oiler with glue on it to make sure i clear and strings. Micky last time i had to do that i used super glue, (locktight 496)
  2. To be 100% sure you need a diamond tester, water will pearl on a sapphire but not as well on a mineral, you can scratch a mineral with a key but not a sapphire, (but not a great way of finding out)
  3. Not yet, i am waiting for a call about my camera to see if they will exchange it as it was supposed to be waterproof and it wasn't. but the alignment looks good to me.
  4. 4 of 5 tiny drops, i use a blue oiler to place the glue rather than the tube, i squeeze some out on to paper and then pick it up and place with the oiler, also i do it with the date wheel fitted to the movement so i can use the stem as a reference for alignment.
  5. I never really considered it dressy but it does go well with a suit, it is surprisingly dress down friday friendly and not the slightest blingy.
  6. That is what i used, it gives a couple ok mins to check alignment, and i only use a couple of drops so i can remove it if i have to.
  7. No collection should be with out it
  8. Have you got an Ingy????????
  9. I sanded the print and paint off a standard 2836 date wheel and then glued it on with a slow setting glue, mounted the dial and checked all the dates were correctly spaced, adjusted and then checked again and let it set. I have been asking about for info of what would be the most suited watch and years for silver date wheels, and what i gather is that the silver wheels were standard on sports models in the late 60 to early 80s so pretty mush all the range from 1680, DRSD and GW. if any one has more and definite info please chime in..
  10. All now in the post, registered mail around the world, how long that will take with the mail back log there may be after the ash cloud issue is any ones guess. I have mine fitted to a 2846 under GW dial just need some hands now
  11. Bit of a bump on the GTG front, I will be away for a few weeks starting next week but as soon as i get back late May i will be emailing menus round for dinner to all the members and friends attending so anyone on the fence about coming, (and i know it is hard to say right now if your travel involves flying) the first week end in June will be about the latest to let me know. These really are great experiences with our wonderful host in the center of Europe. it makes this Virtual life we have here a little more real.
  12. I just ordered some from Clarks off ebay, from the US but what can you do, If the arrive before i disappear for a few weeks i will let you know how they are.
  13. A two hour battery life, yep a very expensive and not very useful toy, but still we have to push the boundrys

  15. It looks great to me, great work Slarti
  16. All packaged up and will be on the way tomorrow.
  17. Yep 40mm ish, i assume that we will see this as the case from the Milgauss should be right
  18. Ah i thought the Mk dials started with Mk1 double red and went up from there and if you have seen a white like that then why not. Please enjoy it.
  19. Dont take this the wrong way, i am not knocking your work or your overall project and i am not the expert here but a MK1 would be a double red wouldn't it, however the texture and the color are good for a heavy patina
  20. I agree with Ubi here, unfortunately we are funding many people in Europe who dont want to work, if every one gets every thing for free then where is the incentive to work hard and succeed, it is a privileged that has to be earned, Like a few thousand years ago, if you don't hunt you don't eat, Call that harsh if you like but they are my thoughts. However human kindness not withstanding being compassionate and helping fellow humans in need is a different thing.
  21. Looks very good,I would not have gone that yellow but it looks good
