  1. :g: Not wanting to appear too cynical - but this is, of course, advertising spiel and PR puff. Blancpain according to Blancpain.

Ironically (because of Blancpain's views on quartz) I used to have to write exactly this kind of spiel on "the wonders of quartz"

Regardless of all that - very informative and interesting. Thank you! :clap3:

  2. There are many ways - here's an easier one:

    1. Duplicate Layer with your picture. (Layer > Duplicate Layer)

    2. Select the lower layer. (Click on lower layer in Layers Window)

    3. Convert that layer to greyscale (Image > Adjustments > Desaturate)

[if you want to improve the greyscale, play with the Levels and bring the black and white towards the middle: Image > Adjustments > Levels]

    4. Select the top layer (Click on top layer in Layers Window)

    5. Use the magic wand, select tools and eraser to delete the sections you want black and white. This will leave the colour bit in the top layer.

    Hopefully - voila!

    Cheers! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    (EDIT: Added the menu paths)

  3. CORNERSTONE IS CORRECT.... Still an amazing deal, IMO, since we are essentially paying for the gold + $150 for a 99% accurate ETA powered rep.

That's never what my wife says!:bleh:

I agree that for those that like gold and can afford it, it looks like an excellent deal - as I said, a lot of watch for the money. You're not having to pay 100% retail mark-up either.

  4. Technically we already had Piaget - it was the first entry. But it's been a day, and the real tough nut is the next one along!

Fair enough if you think this is crap - but worth a shot!

    For Q I have:

    Q

The creator of these fine timepieces.....:

    And the man himself:

    ;)

  5. It's very bizarre - some of the product pages are accessible now, but not the navigation ones.

Either they're having a terrible run of luck, or somebody has got it in for them - their moneybookers account was closed on them, website lost and now web hosting strangeness....

Fingers crossed they can bounce back next week. :)

  6. An Update:

First the gold issue: I think the mistake the previous poster made was an extra calculation dividing the density of 18k gold by .75

The density figure of 18k gold already takes into account that 18K is 75% gold( that's why it's density is less than 18k gold and why the different colors of gold have different densities), so multiplying by .75 is redundant and innacurate

To lay this to rest, I'll have the dealer weigh the piece and then we can determine the value by the spot price of 18k scrap.

Just for the record, the density figure I gave was the density of 18ct gold (taken from gold.org). So I am still correct to multiply it by 0.75 to get to the weight of the actual gold.

Fair enough if you're going to weigh it instead, etc.

  7. An Asian man walked into the currency exchange in New York Citywith 2000 yen and walked out with $72.

The following week, he walked in with 2000 yen, and was handed$66.

He asked the teller why he got less money that week than thepreviousweek.

    The teller said, "Fluctuations."

The Asian man stormed out, and just before slamming the door, turned around and shouted,

    "Fluc you Amelicans, too!"

    Boom Boom

    Ken

    :p

Hey, when I go into banks I get ripped off, storm out, slam the door and shout at them to go fuck themselves too!

Do I have a speech impediment I don't know about? Or does everyone have this problem?!
