  1. Thanks very much for the help and the friendly advice. I would prefer just changing the pearl but the insert of my SSD is not evenly installed. On one side of the bezel its a bit recessed, on the other it stands up a bit. You don't see it from far, but it bugs me still. jewelleryoutlet has answered in the meantime. They think it's been too long since the deal for warranty which I can understand in a way. Still they offer me free shipping if I buy a new one. Nice gesture! I think I'll do that. Do you think I should still get the watchmaterial pearl? It's supposed to be the best aftermarket. Yours kindly Valerian
  2. Aaargh! Go away with this! I thought I hated the SDDS and was quite content with it! Now I wanna get one too! Great pics, really awesome. I got to train my left biceps so I can wear this too. Yours kindly Valerian
  3. Ok, getting a little frustrated here.... Few months ago I got myself a Super Sea Dweller V2 after having read all those raving reviews (also the less excited statements by By-Tor). The watch I got is superb (Chris was too, it's not easy getting a rep to someone living in the Land of Watchdom) but the pearl and bezel inlet wasn't. You can see the pearl has more the shape of a tear. Chris was very helpful and immediately sent me another bezel insert with better pearl but after having read the pictorial by gioarmani (the pinned one, absolutely great!) I decided to get an after market inlet on the bay. Following the hints here I bought one from jewelleryoutlet555 for $24.50. Shipping to Switzerland ain't cheap of course. I received it together with an inlet I ordered for my Noobmariner, on which I perform all the Noob tests you guys wouldn't stand watching That was in November last year. After having been too busy for some weeks I decided today to be brave and follow the gioarmani pictorial for applying the inserts. I started with the Noobmariner inlet and the result was quite satisfying. I haven't glued it in yet (need to get better i.e. elastic glue), but it looks nicely recessed already. Getting braver I wanted to start work on the Sea Dweller inlet when I realized it has bad dent exactly where the pearl is. It looks as if a drill had been used for the pearl whole with too much force. Its not broken but bent. I tried to take a picture but my abilities are very limited. Sorry. Pic of the dented inlet: I wrote to jewelleryoutlet today asking if there is anything we could do about it. But it's been a few months and my hopes aren't so high. I can't even proof I didn't ruin it myself. I will probably have to order another inlet. Not so happy at the moment. But will give it another try. And will post pics of the Noobmariner as soon as the inlet is glued in! Yours kindly Valerian My SSDv2:
  4. Thank you very much for your help, Chino. That explains why I couldn't find out the reference n
  5. OK, I take a deep breath: I've been trying hard and exremely unsuccessfully to find out which reference number the so called Mini fiddy (or Minifiddy or Mini-Fiddy) has. I apologise for asking such a simple question but I couldn't for the grrrmbl of it find it out. Is there a EU based dealer who can source it? I'm very much into the PAM 1950s look but have too thin a wrist to wear something so big. So I say to myself "Hmmm. Mini Fiddy for Mini wrist. Sounds like a plan. Thank you for any hints. Yours kindly Valerian
  6. Care for a Noob opinion? If so: I'd go for the VC. Not because of the brand, the name or the reputation. I just think it's purer in design. The calatrava is too shiny, to glitzy. Not subtle enough for a real dress watch. Awaiting the blows. Yours kindly Valerian
  7. Hi guys I bought this exact watch a few weeks ago from PT and it came with pure white subdial hands. The pix on his site feature the steel hands. You might want to ask him if he can still source the white dial version. I'm very happy with mine. Note though that the dial is still incorrect. The subdials at 6 and 12 lack a white ring and the numbers of the subdials at 9 and 12 should be horizontal. You will also miss three dots on the subdial at 12. Hope this helps. Good luck Valerian
  8. Oooooh! Beauuuuutiful! Valerian
  9. Oh man! I'm still new to this forum but it's threads like this that make me feel at home although the story is very sad. Dave, I am very sorry for you and your wife. I wish you all the best and I'm sure your dog is in a very good place now. Kind regards Valerian
  10. Thanks for the wishes! I'm positive I'll manage to regulate it just fine. I've been thinking hard (maybe not my speciality?) but I'm not sure why you mean it's funny. Because I live in the Land of Watchdom? Sure, there's many watchmakers here (actually there's a real shortage here, Zig could land a well payed job immediately!) but will they touch a rep? I think not. Maybe I should get in training... Or was it something else you found funny? Maybe I'm a bit slow here. Valerian
  11. Hello I am very proud to report that I have just opened my IWC 3706 for the first time (was very anxious about it beforehand) to regulate speed. Everything went well, no professional help needed right now. I took some photos but I'm still terrible so I spare you the details. I have noticed something strange though: When I set the time, the second at 9 hand kicks in immediately after pushing the crown and stem back in. The minute hand starts only after about a minute or so. If I want to set time correctly, I have to set it one minute early as the hand sets in after that minute. Is this a known problem? Can I fix it? Thanks for any advice! Valerian
  12. OK, watch opened, lever moved a bit counter clockwise, closed again. I'm surprised but it works still! Waiting how it keeps time now. Question still of interest, though. Please PM me, if you know somebody. Keep it anonym. Thank you! Valerian

Hi all Noob problem here. My IWC Flieger 3706 (Asian 7750) is running about two minutes fast per 24 hours. I have tried various watch sleeping positions but this didn't help. So today in a rush of bravery I bought a case opener and a case holder. I read several topics in the repair section on how to slow the movement down. I'm scared as hell but quite determined (keep your fingers crossed). Thank you for any hints! Regards Valerian
  14. Thanks for the friendly Welcome! Very nice place indeed. Valerian
  15. Hi everybody Been lurking for some time after having been forced to look for a new home (closing down of TRC). I'm also very new to the Rep world but have already received my first rep from one of the friendly collectors active around here. Very good experience (incl. delivery to the land of eevil WATCH-dogs) which I will note in said collectors review area. Thank you PT! At first I only wanted to get ONE piece, but in the meantime I find myself contemplating various new watches... As this forum has saved me a lot of money I first wanted to send to www.watchez.com I decided to update my account (have to find out how to but am positive I will find out). Regards Valerian
