  1. Nice! I like that carbon fibre look - it would match my carbon fibre Jorg Hysek pen! The lug-to-lug width is 24mm, right?
  2. Thanks Cabbage. Didn't notice the nylon strap. I like it. I look forward to using it.
  3. Ok, just bought Cabbage's Arktos - this'll be my first rep Panerai. Any strap suggestions? Please post your Arktos pics with various straps. Thanks all.
  4. Ok, I know the race is over and who won. But, wow, it's about time that a Formula One event is in the middle of the day on a major network in the U.S. I hope this continues.

  6. That looks fantastic. How's the datefont? Also, anyone know if the letters falling out issue has been resolved?
  7. An EE perhaps?
  8. Is this what a real tropic 39 should look like? If so, I definitely want to have one put in my WMDRSD.
  9. Really? Hmmm. That is very interesting. I may have to pick up one of those 6/9/12 Navitimers - should've bought Estaban's!
  10. Well, at least case shaving, larger spring bars and fixing my 30 minute subdial hand (it's not resetting to zero). Joe will also do a better job of installing the OEM Tropic 21 that I tried to put on myself. Maybe a genuine tube/crown, depending on cost.
  11. Is the subdial spacing in the 6/9/12 serie speciale models correct?
  12. See the offending auction HERE. Also, see pics from that auction below. The seller gives the old excuse of the watch being a gift, but know absolutely nothing about watches. Yeah right.
  13. I actually wouldn't mind have the white letter dial. I'm toying with the idea of picking up one of the genuine white letter dials that pop up occasionally on The Bay. I'm also trying to convince another member on the board to sell me his 1680 - if he does, then the 16610 will be looking for a new home also. Then, I'd be all vintage all the time when I get my 6263 back from joe. Here are more pics:
  14. WM1665 MBW16610 Sad to say that the 16570 is going to a new home in sunny California. Here's my farewell pic to my first rep after finding this fine community: TWG16570
  15. Very nice Ubi.
  16. Actually, I'd prefer that it not screw down. Nothing to strip, and more convenient ona manual winding watch.
  17. Hi all. Does anyone here have the PAM Marina Militaire, as offered by EL? Is the crown a screw-down type? If so, any issues with the tube/crown stripping like the 183's? Thanks.
  18. At least the date on this one is not stuck on 25!!!! lol.

  20. Wow, there's yet another tool for removing subdial hands? Boy, this is like changing wall paper . . . before you know it, you've re-decorated the whole house!! I'm just going to send the thing to Joe - too much for me to screw up. Well, at least I got a shot at swapping crystals.
  21. Is there danger of the pressure of the tool feet (white plastic in the picture below) damaging the subdial? I guess that's what the tissue is for?
  22. Thanks for your help Ubiquitous. I'll post updates when the tools arrive from ebay Land.
  23. UPDATE: Ok, so I did a quick search on TRC, found that there are actually special tools for hand removal and setting (big surprise). So, I broke down and purchased some nice bergeon hand removal and setting tools. The deep sucking sound is me getting pulled deeper and deeper into this hobby.
  24. I recently purchased a Jimbo (EE?) 6263 from Stephenrom. I love the watch so much, I purchased a T21 to have installed when I send it to Joe for spring bars, case shaving, etc. Well, today I received the T21 and in my excitement got ambitious and tried to install it myself. Removing the bezel was quite easy - easily 'popped' off by hand. It has just enough fit to feel secure, yet is easily removable to swap with another bezel. The crystal was a bit tougher for me to get off. Ubiquitous was helpful by PM with tips on removing the crystal. It seems that there was some adhesive securing the old crystal to the case. Anyway, with some encouragement from Ubiquitous and a little help from my all-in-one Gerber tool, I managed to get the crystal off. I guess I was afraid to apply too much pressure and damage the dial or hands - I'm good with my hands, but sometimes I act like Bill Bixby and turn into the Incredible Hulk and break delicate things. Anyway, with the crystal removed, I then thought I would try to re-align the hand of the 30-minute subdial. It doesn't reset to zero, and instead resets just to the right of zero (see pics below). I've tried "nudging" it with a tool tip, but that didn't work. So, that's where I'm stuck. I don't want to press the crystal and bezel in place before fixing the hand. Is this an easy thing to do? Do I need a special tool for adjusting hands? Any help is appreciated - thanks. (Joe, I'm still sending the watch in for the real mods. I just wanted to give it a go with the crystal and maybe even fixing the subdial hand.) Here's my 6263 with crystal removed. Notice the misaligned subdial hand: Here are the new T21 (left) and old crystal (right): And, here's the T21 just sitting on the 6263 ready to be pressed home. I'll probably have to shave the inner diameter of the bezel a bit, though. It's a bit on the tight side:
