  1. Well, at least the movement won't be labeled, Clebar or Enicar.
  2. Besides, any non-rolex v72 will still be better than the mystery movement in the DW or the asian 7750 in the EE. What's someone going to do, insist on seeing the movement of your uber-rare "$15k" 6263? When mine is done, I'll just be happy to know that I have an externally very accurate rep using a reliable, serviceable movement. Of course, I still want the dumb bridge.
  3. I wish I knew this friend. I too am on the look out for this part.
  4. Yeah that is too bad about the bezel font. Maybe I should pony up the extra $6800. I'll have to think about that one.
  5. Joe has not been feeling well, suffering from a serious asthma condition. Read HERE. I just received a PM from him last night that he is slowly getting through his backlog of work. I told him to take care of himself before worrying about my watch. After all, it's just a watch. The watch is replaceable. Joe is not. Be patient.
  6. I just wish that had one for 1665.
  7. Tribal - thank you. You are one of the good ones.
  8. Anyone know where I can find and purchase one? And, please, no pictures of your collection of 20 oem vintage bezel inserts!! Generic does not bother me, but I do want it to snap in without adhesive. Thanks!
  9. Guys. Do you know if the 1680 bezel offered by Helfands (HERE) will snap into the MBW/WM 1680 bezel ring without needing adhesive. Am I correct that a genuine or 1:1 generic does not need adhesive to stick to bezel ring? Thanks.
  10. Ubi. Thank you, thank you. Well, I took everything apart again, and found that without the insert and with the retainer ring lifted ever so slightly from the case by a gasket, I get good retention of the bezel and nice smooth movement. But now, everytime I try to glue the insert down and reinstall the bezel ring + insert onto the watch, the insert gets separated and pushed off the bezel ring. The inner lip that sticks up from the retainer ring seems to push up on the undersurface of the insert. I should be receiving my replacement 127, bezel insert and gasket next week. So, I'll give it another go next weekend. Again, thank you for the Plan B option - I'll let you know how it goes. I love this place.
  11. Yeah, John is a good guy - very responsive and friendly. I just ordered a new 39 to replace the one I screwed up. Gosh, this stuff adds up.
  12. Guys. What is the cyclops magnification of a genuine Tropic 127 versus the crystal that comes with the MBW/watchmaster 1680's?? In trying to fix my 1680, I messed up the crystal that was on the watch. I had a spare crystal that appears to be a 127, but the magnification is not like the one that cam with the watch. Should the cyclops magnification be the same or less than the original MBW/WM crystal?? Thanks guys.
  13. That is what I need . . . a press. Tribal are you going to install a gasket? I don't know if you saw my THREAD, but I also found that my 1680 lacked a gasket. I bought one on eBay from Helflands last night, so hopefully mine arrives next week. Ubi, I'm going to try to find a PVC pipe of the correct diameter and cut to length to serve as a press ring along with a C-clamp.
  14. I'm convinced that the fix is two things: 1) If I keep my currrent retainer ring, I will need to keep it slightly spaced apart from the top surface of the case to ensure that the bezel has a chance to properly engage with outer lip surface. A gasket should help in this regard; 2) If I obtain a thicker retainer ring, like Ubi's and Pismo's, I could then press the new retainer ring so that it's bottom surface immediately abuts the top surface of the case, or at least comes as close as a gasket will allow. Either way, I'm going to put in a proper gasket - I don't know why that wasn't there in the first place. Ordered that LATE last night - couldn't sleep. Also ordered a replacement bezel insert. Both from Helflands. For fun, I removed the bezel from my WM 1665. The retainer ring looked totally different, but I guess that makes sense given the different (correct) bezel geometry. I didn't feel like venturing further and screwing things up.
  15. Side view of my retaining ring:
  16. Ok, my retainer ring outer lip is clearly thinner than Ubiquitous's and Pismo's shown below. Though, with the bezel and retainer ring removed, I am able to snap them together and get a nice fit. A gasket, as shown, will help keep the retainer spaced apart from the case top surface. The bezel will then be able to engage the outer lip. Sherrington, I suspect that even though the bottom surface of your retainer ring immediately abuts the top surface of the case, yours is at least as thick as Ubi's and Pismo's. See my last pic below.
  17. Last post before going to bed . . . is the gasket a standard Rolex part? If so, may I please know the part number, or good source in U.S.? Thanks! And, good night!!
  18. I think that's it. If I try to install the retainer ring into the bezel ring, it has a nice snap, snug fit. I think if I get a gasket, the retainer ring will sit higher, and my bezel ring will have an opportunity to fully engage the outer edge of the retainer ring. Well, I hope that is it anyway. So, gotta order parts and wait . . .
  19. Ok, I removed my retainer ring and found that there is NO gasket. So, maybe my retainer ring was sitting TOO LOW on the case, so there was no edge for my bezel to grab. If there is a gasket, then my retainer ring would sit slightly spaced apart from the top surface of the case, which would the better present the outer edge of the retainer ring for engaging the bezel ring. In your pictures, it appears the the retainer ring sits higher than mine. What do you think? I think I need to get a gasket . . .
  20. OR IS MY RETAINER RING UPSIDE DOWN????
  21. Ok, here's a pic showing the thin outer edge of my retainer ring:
  22. You know what - my retainer ring outer edge looks MUCH thinner than yours. In fact, the top surface of my retainer ring slopes downwardly toward the outer edge, whereas yours is horizontal with the dial. I think I have the wrong retainer ring on mine. I'll post a pic in 2 minutes.
  23. I've tried without the insert, and it is loose even without the insert. I'm still not understanding what creates the resistance for turning and what prevent the bezel from being displaced axially. Maybe my bezel has too large of an inner diameter (the one that seems to interface with the outer diameter of the retainer ring)?
  24. Ok, here's where I'm at (see pic below).
  25. Ok, wait. I've been calling the bezel washer the retainer. Wrong terminology. Ok, going by your thread, I do have the following parts: *Retaining ring *Bezel washer *Bezel ring *Bezel insert I never removed the retaining ring. I never shaved any material from the bezel ring - ONLY the insert. It is the WASHER that I have been bending, flipping upside down in an attempt to get some tension. So, it is the press fit between the bezel ring and retaining ring that keeps everything together? I'll post a pic shortly.
