  1. Hey premiumdesigners, we're on the same page for straps. I've been bouncing back and forth between those same two straps. I'm weighing toward black with copper stitching. I'd love to see pics of the black strap mounted.
  2. Hi all. I just measured my wrist size at 191mm. There's a 'choped' bull strap sold by Official Time that I really like for my 217, but the longest length offered is 120/75. Is this going to be a bit small? I like the long end of the strap to extend slightly past the fixed loop. Thanks guys.
  3. I've had a couple of nice (and long) conversations with Joe earlier this year. Super nice guy and very knowledgable about his art. I hope he gets well soon. I suffer from asthma also, so I can relate - it sucks. I'm sure my 6263 will be finished and returned to me looking and operating wonderfully. I'm in no hurry - I have a hard enough time trying to give the watches I have enough wrist time as it is.
  4. Is there a foil overlay over the bridges? Where's the dowel holes in the bridge plates? Is that a swan neck on an asian movement? Here's the back of my asian movement 217 - so similar:
  5. I just got one of those wonderful crystal presses - makes life so much easier. But, the darn thing didn't come with a deep enough die piece, so I had to improvise. Not having a gold Omega case like yours, I ended up using a bottom cap of a large-size Maglite - worked/fit perfectly. Oh, and I managed to fix my lose bezel 1680 issue. My retainer lip was a bit on the thin side, so I installed the retainer ring raised about half a mm from the case - that was enough to give the ring something to 'grab' onto - kind of like love handles. Great post! Thanks for sharing! And, of course, great pics!!
  6. Hmm. I wasn't paying close attention and bought a bunch. Luckily, they're only .99. Do you know where to find the springbars that are better than the ones that typically come with the reps, but don't require the drilling? Thanks.
  7. I remember reading a post providing a source for springbars that will fit unmodified lug holes of a watchmaster 1665 and 1680, but now I can't find the link. Anyone know where to get the upgrade springbars that'll fit unmodified holes?? Thanks.
  8. Extraextra's are nice too (see below). Btw, my DW v72 is on its way from Edge!! Hopefully, it'll arrive next week. Still haven't located a movement or a decorated bridge.
  9. Sounds like something my wife would do by accident. She's tossed her paycheck in the trash more than once. God knows what else has been chucked by her during her cleaning frenzies. I have a happy 1680 ending (almost). I finally got my 127 from John today and installed it with my brand spanking new crystal press. Man, jobs are so much easier with the right tools. Now I just have to install my insert . . . . hopefully that goes ok.
  10. Hmmm. I see some differences, but what exactly do I need to buy/do to my WM 1665 to fix my date wheel? Do I need to do the same to my WM 1680? Do I need to source a different ETA movement that accepts the genuine date wheel? Thanks. Oh, ok. So, it should be silver background?
  11. I narrow it down by trying to focus on a series. For example, I am trying to complete a collection of vintage sport rollies. So far, I've got a 1665 (sea dweller), 6263 (daytona) and 1680 (submariner). I'll pick up a genuine vintage dress rollie to round out the set, such as an early Oyster Perpetual or even Precision. And, all black dial, of course. First and foremost, however, is sticking to quality - not quantity. That's my view, anyway. Then, I'll try to build a similar set in Panerai. I've already picked up the first piece for that series, a 217. I will pick up a 212 and a Militare with brevet crown. In short, try to come up with a theme for a series and build your collection around the chosen theme. You might try such categories as chronographs, dress watches, or stick to particular brands. Hope that helps.
  12. Um. Me too. Yeah, I would chuck my heavy solid link oyster for one of those . . . gotta contact homer . . .
  13. I got one of these on eBay . . . about $30 on eBay shipped.
  14. Hollow. But, i prefer the feel and weight of the solid mid link bracelets that come with the mbw/wm vintages.
  15. "Well what is the odd thing in this photo?" There are 9 watches.
  16. "i like big butts and I cannot lie . . ."
  17. I traded with my brother-in-law my Arktos for his Destro. He's got skinny arms, so the Arktos "fits" better on top of his wrist. I'm very impressed by the fit, finish, and function of the asian unitas. Here are pics of the 217 on Toscana:
  18. Wow, I like the yellow. Nice. I was thinking the same thing with my BOB cobalt blue - goes great with blue jeans.
  19. Hi Halley. I read your post about the details of the DW movement, HERE. In the review, you describe the V23 as fitting better in the DW case than the V72 dedicated case. Have you had a chance to confirm this? I'm expecting a DW V72 kit case soon, and I am looking for a suitable movement, mostly at V72. V23 sounds like a nice alternative if it'll work. Your expanded thoughts on this issue are very much appreciated. Thanks.
