  1. any OMEGA (but it must not have any flashy or unusual colours) will do regardless the type of jobb Not sure POLEX is such a good idea Good luck
  2. We have a winner and now its up to you to come up with the next question in this thread FxrAndy Yes its our hero Jochen Benzinger Jochen Benzinger is considered one of the world's best watch artisans for engraving, guilloch
  3. Good point Nixon! Full circle indeed and this shows how little the "watch movement" technology have changed in the last 100years...save some of the top luxury watches in house movements, those that create watches that no longer look like watches and most importantly SEIKOs spring drive movement (even if its a hybrid)
  4. Certainly it is a good idea and maybe even do the same for other lowly priced beauties so its not POLEX all the way......maybe even the "dealers/collectors" need to work harder in the genral sections too?
  5. add TTK, rolexaward, delgates, omi and the ggg in ther too...and eddie and omni too...and Demsey and highflyingclive (those two actually got married i heard.......not)
  6. Me too...this is a really difficult one Clue number 2: This guy has made one of my very favorite watches....got a special chime too

  13. Good feedback and too bad about the economy TeeJay I guess were sort of spoiled up here in Norway as the crisis has not hit as hard WildWest might be going too far agreed...we certainly wouldnt want to kill or drive out the natives (most of what I write is tongue in cheek or allegory in case you wonder).... but this should at least be frontier and a place of wonder Best wishes Gunnar (Send Out The Clowns)
  14. Welcome read post and have fun....and look at the more rare replicas thats fun too...gets boring with POLEX, 0MEGA and PANERI (as spelled by some chinese replica masters) I hereby allow and beg you to post at least 9 silly or dumb posts so we can get this forum humming along nicely.....dont mind if people think youre silly its the only way to learn and have fun as you go along Best wishes Gunnar (Engaged or drunk most of the time) (Engaged as in going steady that is)
  15. Interesting post at panerai watchprositecom reposted below...so waddya think..anyhow good news for the replica oriented In the collecting career of any Panerai enthusiast the highlight most definitely is acquiring one of the original Vintage Panerais that lay the basis of the Legend of Panerai as a War Machine. Tested and proven in the steely fires of battle these machines now adorn the wrists of modern Warriors taking on the challenges of everyday life. The critical component of a Vintage Panerai is the movement and over the production period of 1936 till 1955 various Rolex work horses were used. The movement is also essential as it forms nearly 50% of the value of the timepiece (and in the case of the Vintage Angelus powered Richemont issued PAM 203, 85% of the value of the watch). However in authenticating a Vintage Panerai and ensuring the right movement is in the right case can be a daunting task as there were many variations as far as movement markings are concerned and this can confuse a potential Vintage Panerai Collector. I can tell you now this issue is contentious due to ego and the huge sums of money involved and there are varying degrees of opinions especially from some collectors who believe they know what is the real story that adds to the confusion. However I will try my best to bring facts forward about the movements used in Vintage Panerais and try to show both sides of the argument. The argument being: There should be consistency in the movements that were used in Vintage Panerais especially post 1946 Vs. No consistency because that
  16. First American Made Caliber in over 35 years - RGM Caliber 801 www.rgmwatches.com/caliber_801_001Ca.jpg Can this really be considered a new caliber or is just an old rewamped pocket watch calibre?..maybe The Zigmeister knows?..anyhow RGM watches are truly classic in their look and sorta affortable
  17. It should be a prerequistite for Noobs to ask dumb questions maybe make it a rule/customary that every newbie is expected and allowed (10) ten dumb posts at the start......that should lower their shoulders...kind of an initation rite
  18. Excellent post Andreww! Point1: You are probably correct but do we know for sure that people are buying less replicas now or buying less expensive replicas? One should think that replicas should become more desirable considering the economic downturn? Point2: Your probably even more accurate on this one concerning the most popular watches and that aiding is the prime objective now...but that was what TRC became also so its not a completely new thing That being said replicas have along way to go still and we must help in that process. More focus on brands like A. Lange and brands that so far has few replicas is still warranted.... I think RWG is now TRC (= a mature and civilized community)and lack of excitement is keeping the posting down. What is needed is new and vital members and maybe a change in style.....I remembered when the new RWG (this site) was created there was a lot of discussion to what extent a lot of posts was good or bad....members have to in some way feel that they are being rewarded or have higher status for posting a lot (even if that is to some extent silly also). This is a virtual place and people have to believe in the dreams and hype going on to become more active....
  19. Schuhren Time Pieces is like my age old dream for the RWG watch... I like them but what about the name di you think they would be willing to put another name on the dial like The Zigmeisterwatch?
  20. Now that is not good! The problem is getting people to reply of course! You don't want a bunch of topics with no responses. The occasional controversial one helps a lot. People are a lot more likely to reply to controversial posts than non-controversial ones.
