  1. Awesome leather and great stitching / finishing. Have you used a 26mm punch to finish the tail, or is it just careful cutting? Nice buckle, BTW
  2. What's the engraving on the back where it now reads The British Masters? It ends in 'London Greenwich', which I have never seen before! Great image, when was it taken? I've got some of the original pre-production designs from this era, I'll have to have a hunt for them.
  3. That was perfect, thanks for your help! Watch this space for further developments
  4. Cheers Rob, that's a great link!
  5. Could anybody who owns a new Graham Chronofighter Oversize let me know roughly what diameter the dial is? A rough measurement of the crystal / bezel would do the trick! Also, if anybody know the sub-dial spacing on a 7750, that would be appreciated. I think it
  6. Here are some of the new Graham models from Basel / SIHH 2008. Some of them look quite promising, although the standard bi-compax look that Graham are known for seems to be lost with some of the sub-dial / date configurations. Chronofighter Oversize SAS Chronofighter Oversize Airwing The models with the curved pusher appear to have a new case, I'm assuming these are 43mm Chronofighter replacements rather than the 46mm Oversize cases. Chronofighter Oversize Diver 1000ft And the Swordfish Ali-Baba... Maybe we'll see some here in the future?!
  7. I'm not keen on the metal braclet on my 3717, and am thinking of putting a kevlar strap on it. I'd rather spend a bit more and get a better quality kevlar strap (like Ted Su's ones), any ideas where to get a 21/18mm kevlar (not patterned rubber like on the bay)? Also, has anybody seen any straps for a 3717 shaped to fit the lugs? The huge gap left from a skinny kevlar strap always looks a bit odd! Cheers.
  8. There have been several conversations regarding Rolex / Vintage watch parts from Palo Alto, but the general consensus is that you don
  9. I was browsing puretimewatch.com, and noticed that Angus has got a black/black Chronofighter oversize, pricing for the Swordfish and a 'placeholder' for the Chronofighter Oversize Diver!! Looks promising...
  10. Looking good! The bezel on the WM case is what really sets it apart, it is truly awesome. The project looks great, the subtle ageing on the hands / dial really compliments the movement - not over-the-top, which is always good to see! I've been looking into getting a 1:1 engraved caseback made, but I think this would be too expensive - if the idea ever comes to life I'll let you know, although the non-branded case is probably a better option.
  11. The cost is in the setup - if you photochemically etch the dial, you're looking at maybe $200-300 for the screen. Then the pad printing tooling, maybe the same again. From here, it really is dependant on the company, the material cost is next to nothing
  12. Is that an engraved movement? I thought you could only get the stick-on aluminium plates, have I missed something?! EDIT - just realised Angus had the engraved 'E' series movements, ignore my question.
  13. ... Something about that sentence made me chuckle. I hadn't noticed the A's until a few months ago - they are very noticable when you know what to look for, and are frustratingly easy to correct (in Illustrator, convert the text to a path and change the location of the horizontal bar. Not that difficult really when you look at the lengths rep makers go to!)
  14. A nice dream though! The Pilot watch would be awesome - some of the old Laco's are really nice, but a bit big (55mm IIRC!). How about something unique like a Hamilton 'USN Buships' Canteen watch? Certainly a head turner with a lot of historical value - it was a 40's US Frogman standard-issue watch (same as the 3646).
  15. Buying a gen?! When you say a 'premium', you do realise that a fairly average 3646 would demand around $60,000, whilst a 6152/1 with an Angelus movement could be anywhere from $100,000 upwards if you're looking for a decent model? That's a lot of money for someone who hangs around on rep boards!
  16. That's a good looking watch. Still undecided about the AR - I think I'll send it off to The Zigmeister, and once it's had some wrist time decide if I should get it AR'ed (K2222 is in the EU, so this'll be fairly straightforwards!). As for the strap, I'm considering getting a Delaurian - I've seen some awesome straps that'd be perfect for the 082 that he's produced (I can't pull off exotic leathers, so prefer to go for a calf strap).
  17. Thanks for the comments - I agree that double AR would look awesome, but single sided / no AR would be much more durable and accurate! Tough decision.
  18. I'm working on an 082 project - the dial has been vac-lumed, the case is the old style 036 from Joshua with good CG / thick crown, and the movement is an asian 6497-2 (high beat 21kbph) - the movement is visually wrong (OPXI? instead of OPII) but this shouldn't matter with a closed back. Everything is perfect on the watch, other than the canon pinion, which could do with having a flat top if I'm really picky, and the current crystal. I'm sending the crystal (3.5mm sapphire) to get the AR stripped off - I stupidly scratched the AR whilst reassembling the watch. Does anybody know what the 082 should have? I'm tempted by double AR, but my guess is that the genuine would have had a single-sided coating. Any comments appreciated, as I'll be sending the watch off in a couple of days!
  19. If anybody's having difficulty with the torrent, I would have thought it'd be available for free on 4OD (see the Channel 4 website).
  20. I'm working on some dials for an Angelus movement - I have found somewhere to create custom made engraved dials to my specification (if all goes well, there will be a small batch produced and any spares sold off on the forums). What I need to find out (rather urgently) is what is the correct sub-dial spacing? I've measured 9mm on the movement, 8.6mm using a template and Davidsen states it's 8.2mm! I want to make sure the dial is correct before I produce it, as the setup costs are rather high! Before anyone PM's me asking for the details of the engraver, it's being done as a favour and they won't deal with trademarks - so no 1:1 111 dials this time!
  21. Must of been the result of mis-reading the thread - Bryan Pannel is a no-good Texan scammer who goes under the name submersible24g / base / several others. Crippler is yet to be confirmed a scammer
  22. Tourby looks like he's doing fairly well with business, and trades on many other boards (and strictly does not sell replicas), so I doubt Hammer would spend time on RWG. Looks pretty nice, that Maurice Lacroix movement must have cost a pretty penny.
