  1. Yeah, with the 'strength' of the US dollar, its gonna hurt a bit more.... I agree, I like the old-un-improved version better. UNLESS....there is a member out there willing to part with theirs.... Have a good day! -K

  3. Greetings all, I have been lurking in the omega area for some time. I am particulary intrested in a full sized speedmaster moon. I have read with great intrest all of the wonderful reviews that everybody has take the time to put together with compairsons, what to look for etc... I havent been able to find anything about the possibility of changing the caseback to a solid, just like the gen. Did I miss it somewhere? can somebody direct me where to look, who sells the backs, do they fit? what kind of movement fits, what doesnt fit etc...etc... I am thinking hard about pulling the trigger soon. I think Ruby has the most accurate looking of all the examples I have seen. Any input would be apreciated and thanks in advance! -K
  4. I purchased Rob's VC Malte Chronograph. Awesome! Easy to deal with, good comunication A+++

  6. Thanks, Thats kind of what I thought.... Just needed some confirmation. I hope that the knock on the door isnt the guys in blue with a warrent in one hand and my package in the other .... Im kidding, but when your waiting, your mind begins to wander........... -K
  7. Greetings all, Just have a quick question that one of our more experienced members can answer.... I ordered a rep from Andrew at Trusty. No problems during the transaction and am waiting for my package to be delivered to the US. I have read that the tracking system is less than accurate and not to freak if there isnt a pinpoint, GPS locator of exactly where it is. No worries, as I checked about a week after I was notified that the package was sent and in the 'status' area, it read " Arrives in USA" at 0832 and " Handed to Customs" at 0833. That was several days ago... Is this normal operating procedure or something to be concerned about? Any input would be apreciated. Thanks in advance! -K
  8. Don't know. I ordered from Trusty via EMS Courier China on 8/9. I didn't even think of the implications of the Olympics and delivery times. I havent recieved a tracking number yet, was going to check in a couple of days. Stay tuned. This might be no big deal, or it could be really, really bad... -K
  9. A replica, that is.... I have been looking, but have yet to see one anywhere... Anybody else have any luck? Thanks in advance! -K
  10. Thanks for the advice.... wind, dont touch.... If I need spare parts, something has gone horribly astray... What could possibly go wrong? I will go and follow all his directions... Thanks again! -K
  11. Greetings all! Sorry for the question. I am sure that this has been covered elsewhere in the forum, but unfortuately, I get sidetracked so easily that I am loosing my way Everytime I get focused, I get drawn into looking at something else... "OOOOOOhhhh! thats cool! how does that work?" or "What does that term mean?"... So anyways, I have taken the plunge on a Rolex GMT with the Swiss ETA 2836-2 Automatic movement. I have seen Trusty's Q&A that answers many basic questions. Is there a link in the forum that covers more don't-do-that-or-your-gonna-be-screwed recomendations? I would like to prevent a major screwup strait out of the box.... Thanks in advance! -K
  12. Thanks for all the links and comments. I am not sure if I want to deal with the 'faux' part of the GMT, though I do like the pepsi bevel. Perhaps just a reasonable submariner would be a better choice for now... If I understand everybody correctly, the trouble with the movement is with the hand stack and the use of the 24hr hand, and not the actual mechanism, per se... Now, I have several more hours of reading ahead of me... when am I supposed to work? Keith
  13. Right now, its drying out a bit... Monsoon last night dropped about 0.25" rain on us. Cooled things down a little bit. It was still 100 degrees F at 10pm on my way home from work last night. Should be around 115+ today.... yet I digress... Am really excited to be here! Finding out that the more that I read, the less I know... How many weeks/months/years before one can expect to get a reasonable 'handle' on things? ... Too many cool watches, too many things to learn about each one.... Its looking like a lifetime of education.... Like I said before, I will try to keep the noob questions to a minimum! Thanks again for letting me play! -Keith
  14. Greetings all, This subject may have already been beaten to death, but have unable to find much in the archives about the ETA 2836-2 GMT models and their reliability/ movement. I read with intrest about modifications and their relative lack of reliablity, maintinance issues ect... but that isnt what my question is about... I am looking to get a noob Rolex GMT for a gift. I notice that at Trusty theirs has the ETA 2836-2 movements. I am not planning on any mods, as they would probably be lost on the person who is recieving it. What has been everybodies experinence for functionality, useablity, and longevity... Do the 2836-2's break at the first winding? Should I keep looking? Thanks in advance, and again, I apologise if this has been covered in detail elsewhere. Regards, -K
  15. Thanks!, A little overwhelming... too much info to process too quickly.... I want one of those... and one of those... and gotta try that... Oh... this is gonna be bad...... Should be fun, going to read about eveything for a week or so before I pull a trigger or 10 Any suggestions of where to start? Allready hit 'beginners world' pretty hard... Thx -K
  16. Greetings all, Just a 'Hello' from the temperate south west Will try to keep my noob questions to a minimum and 'lurk' trying to learn Thanks for letting me educate myself! Regards, Keith
