I just got email confirmation from Trusty that there is indeed a new superlumed 16600 in the works and should be out in about a month! Hopefully the new release will correct the incorrect minute markers on the hands! I cannot wait as I just sold my ssd about a month ago and regretted it the minute I left the Post Office.

I was thinking of membership around the 10 or 15 and keeping it only in u.s. to avoid customs issues.

It really is a shame. However I think that with proper moderation and member restrictions it really has promise. I have been finding myself jonesing lately for a daytona but don't want to drop the loot as I know the yearning will pass as it has before when I bought a spinmaster wore it for a short while then it moved on.

I was sitting around on the fourth at my in laws house and was listening to my wifes aunt talking about a new handbag club she joined. Basically she pays a monthly fee to be part of a database of handbags that she can "check out" similar to a library. She also has her bags on the database that are available to others in the network. Well it got me thinking how if that could work here? Of course stipulations of membership to include references, nice watches to include in database to name a few. There could be a monthly due that goes towards a pool for acquisition and modification of watches to add to the network. Anyways, just a thought. I don't know how many times I have bought a watch to either decide that I don't like it or get tired of it. Let me know what you think. Joe

I am looking to add a Breitling to the box. I am interested in a white Super Avenger but would consider other chrono models and colors. I am looking to spend around 500 bucks but can pony up a little more if the right piece became available. I am planning on going Franken. If you have any advice or one you are thinking of parting with please let me know. Thanks Joe

Just an update. Job is done final payment received and on the way to pay balance due and pick up the watch. Photo removed. Have a greet weekend everyone.

The paper that the receipt was listed on was not the place where I got my materials. The sheet is from a larger distributor of materials that many dealers get stuff from. They just hand out the scratch paper as promotional items. So Falls City Lumber is not the place where I got my stuff from.

Im glad the job is done as well. On to the next one.

Just a little background info, I own a small deck building company. For the last 3 1/2 weeks I have been working on a rather large job and due to weather the job has taken longer than I had anticipated. That being said, I have had to cover payroll out of pocket when I was expecting to do so out of final payment on job. So I am almost finished with the project, just have about 4k worth of materials needed and about 3 days of work. Without going into savings which I do not like to do as I prefer to keep business accounts and personel accounts seperate I was about 2400 short on the 4000 in materials. I am friends with the owner of the main supplier I use and approached him with the problem. He offered to give me the materials I needed to complete the job and suggested I leave my "Rolex" with him for collateral. I think he watches to many of the Pawn Shop TV shows and kinda got a kick out of taking an item in on hold against materials. Well I agreed and took my watch up there to complete the order and so that he could put the watch in his safe. He has a few Rolexes, one of which is a 16610 Sub along with some Omegas, and Breitlings so I was a little nervous giving up my rep hoping he did not call me out, lol. Long story short, I got the materials and am completeing the job today. Hopefully I will be able to collect payment on the balance due and will be heading up to collect my "Rolex" and pay my bill. He is going on vacation next week to Hawaii and mentioned that maybe he could use my sea dweller to do some serious diving while out there, lol. I think he was kidding though. Anyways thought it was a funny story and thought I would share.

Ronin I would hope you would recognize the pic lol. Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I would rather not go with a replacment deployment. To complicated for her lol. Just lookig for a buckle preferably signed panerai.

So I got my wife a 49 from sillix last week. I honestly do not know much about Pams as I spend most my time over in the Rolex area. She has the white "leather" band and while trying to take it off she forgot to push the buttons and using her crazy strength broke a pin on the deployment and it promptly fell apart. She is not very keen on the deployment anyways and I was wondering I assume I can just use the bracelet and get a buckle for it. Can someone point me in the right direction where to get a good rep one or pm me if you have one you are wanting to sell. Thanks Joe

Just to clarify....... I do not own both the watches in the first three pics, just the one with the gloss dial. Also, ubi did not do the mods on my watch. The one with the faded insert was done by him. I do hope though that I can get him to do the CG's for me though!

db2, the gen insert used on the 5513 came from the 1665 GW I got from you. Since I was going for a serviced look on the 5513 and a little more original look on the 1665 your gen insert worked out great. I am replacing it with one that is a little faded. Your old 1665 also got a gen 24-700 crown put on it.

Cats, funny you should say that, I sold my gen cased 1675 to fund this build along with a MBW 1665.

This watch has been a long time in the making. The watch just got finished and these were the pics sent to me. The mods are: Gen Dial: To stay period correct for the L date code I went with a gloss tritium dial with WG surrounds. Clarks Tudor handset to match dial Gen T-19 Crystal Gen 24-702 Crown Gen Insert 2846 Movement Installed I have some 580 end pieces on the way but I am thinking of putting this on a NOS Tropic Strap. The first few pics are of the watch along side another MBW that has an NDT 5513 dial and was modded by ubi.

will a gen 16800 insert fit onto a mbw 1665
usmctowgnr replied to usmctowgnr's topic in The Rolex Area
I have a watch with Ronin getting some work done. I really need to find a new insert as the one I have is not good. I am also looking for a gen 39. -
I have a mbw 1665 and was wondering if a gen 16800 insert will fit? I have read some post on vrf saying it will work and some saying no. Also if it will fit what are the differences? I saw that the pearl may be bigger.

It seems like the ssd has a few dilemas. The lec is to large and to the best of my knowledge there are no alternatives. I wish one of two things. Either there were a better sl dial with the correct minute markers and just bite re bullet and use the existing crystal. Or a replacmemt crystal, no lec then I could go with the tritium dial and make a 16660. I know I am stressing the small stuff that 99% of re people wont notice but I will know and it will drive me nuts. I think I liked this hobby better when I knew less lol. I had a chance.to buy a gen 16600 sl dial a few months back but 450 was to steep for me.
-
One of them I was going to do. I am keeping my ssd.

I have been searching but cannot come up with a difinitive answer. I have a ssd v2 that I am going franken with. I currently have a gen insert and vintage 703 crown and tube for. I also have a bk dw custom overlay. My dilema is the dial and crystal combination. I would like yo stay with a 16600 sl version but I cannot find a correct dial with the larger minute markers. I ordered a sillix special that has the correct minute markers but everything else is bad so I am not going that swap route. I would like to get a gen dial but they all are tritium dials and since my crystal has th lec and I know of no way to switch it I think that wont work. So my question, is there a source for replacment crystals without the lec, or one for a sl dial that has the correct minute markers. Thanks Joe

The vintage PT watches are a great bang for your buck and turn out good. It is hard to pony up for an mbw and then spend more loot on mods. This hobby has a high price tag lol. I have a mbw 5513 I got from a great member for a reasonable price or I probably would be going the PT route as well. Still may have to go that way for a 1665 as I am having a hard time sourcing a mbw 1665.
