  1. I think you are giving the genuines too much credit here. No watch is waterproof. The only genuines that are truly water safe are those with a screw down crown and screw on caseback. Any other genuine with a water rating from 10 to 150 meters in depth have an interesting little disclaimer in all of the instruction inserts. Do not dive in them. This does not mean do not scuba dive, it means do not jump into a pool with them. Why? because the transient pressures a watch is subjected to when you plunge into the water are often far greater that those it would encounter static at depth pressure. There is also usually another interpretation of the depth ratings on watches, a guide to practical usage given the water resistance of the watch. Level one is casual water resistance, sweat, splashes. Level two is showering. Level three is swimming and snorkeling on the surface. Only a watch rated for 200m with a screw down crown is rated for depth and is level 4. I submit that dispite a lack of "guarantees" from the manufacturers, most of our reps are in the first three levels of resistance. With some tweeking, greasing and tightening, many here can attest to dive resistance. So what you are suggesting, that our replicas are not up to snuff when it comes to comparisons to the 30m water resistance of your Timex quartz, is just not true. You are assuming that a 30m Timex is a water resistant rock worthy of a manufacturers guarantee, and it is not. I have had 150m Seikos and Bulovas fog from playing in the surf or diving into a pool. As for taking reps into water, my thoughts on this are well known. I spend money on replicas because I have found a half dozen or so that look so close to the genuine that only an expert can tell the difference. I have no expectation of parallel performance. My reps are like beautiful classic cars, high and dry in the garage and rubbed with a soft cloth often.
  2. Just a few lousy pics of a genuine Breitling buckle I put on my GT with a BOB strap. Got it at gemnation.com for $25
  3. Ok so since you are aware of your purchase and the quality of it, I'll answer your original question less gently. Do I like it? Hell no! First of all, it's a copy of a limited edition (and I mean LIMITED edition) $150,000 watch. Who would believe any of us poor replica buying schlubs could pull this one off. You would need a lot more props to go with a Bentley Tourbie than just the box. Second, besides the case back disaster, I have not been able to find one with a date display at 12 oclock. The subdial positions and sizes are wrong and the faux tourbillion isn't even close in the positions and angles of the post supports and many other details. And this evaluation is from 10 feet away.
  4. Dear Lord... Welcome and listen. Wear your new watch proudly and enjoy it. Some day, it will be a very important reminder to you of your first visits here!!! Sufice to say the majority of what you paid for is that nice Breitling box.
  5. Why do they keep making watches that are 90% reliable? Because we keep buying them. The QC here is applied to the fidelity of the appearance, not the reliability. Can they make a watch that is reliable and rugged? Yes and many of the simple reps based on basic designs will give you many years of service. But buy a chronograph with 2X the working parts of an ETA 2836 and you are buying repair costs as well. I figure my reps have all the parts necessary to make them decent watches but a trip to Ziggy and a $175 investment is part of the process of getting them there. I don't see why this is such a tough concept to get one's brain around. We are the consumer of an illegal product. Who are we going to complain to if the cut of our "peruvian flake" is not to our liking. The bottom line is that this forum gives you all the information you need to make an informed purchase and from whom to make it as well as giving you the tools necessary to fix any problems that might arise. As long as our primary standards are cosmetic in evaluating the quality of the watches we buy, the mechanicals will take a back seat.
  6. Feels like the gears are missing when I use a standard motion to wind the watch manually. Out of a full rotation of the crown, it feels like only about half of the turn is engaged in winding. If I apply a slight outward from the case pressure on the crown and stem when I wind it, it engages fully but I have to do it very slowly in order to keep the gears engaged. Service call in my furure or is there something I can do. The full repetoire of my internal watch adjustment skills consist of bumping a regulator arm + or -.
  7. RD unveiled a very ambitious plan for the coming year at Basil 2006 as it is introducing 5 or 6 new in house movements and plans on being a leader in haute horology in house movement manufacturing. now if they could just get their heads out of their asses when it comes to designing the outside of the watch! Butt ugly pieces if you ask me.
  8. Thanks everyone. Just ordered the IWC GST Chrono White Dial Stainless from Paul for $225 including the WU transfer fees. I hope the wife isn't too upset I went about 11% over budget!!! Another new 7750 28,000bph chrono. That's three and still counting. Looks like, with a serious college savings/budget cutback plan in place during my son's senior year in High School, the next rep purchase will have to wait until about January 2007. Booo Hooo!
  9. Isn't this the dealer that many are confusing with MBW George. Some have reviewed positively his products based on photos but the proof is in the delivered product. Sorry about your problems. I, for one, would not spend that amount of money (not any more but let's not talk about my preRWG days) unless the dealer had a proven track record of longevity and reputable products. That watch is so bad, it should mark W9 as a scam site. It's one thing to deliver a watch for a premium price that has a manufacturing flaw or a problem with a movement. These are understandable "it slipped through the cracks" issues that all dealers have to contend with. But this thing is such crap, it has so many flaws, I can't help but think the site is in the business of taking as many as it can for $600 a pop before it goes away.
  10. Take a look at this movement and see if it fits your needs. http://www.clockspares.net/detail.asp?id=24327 I'm sure if you email clockspares with detailed measurements, they can fill the order for less than $20.
  11. Nice enough but just a little too "Cartier" for my taste. The bracelet thumb screws are an interesting touch. Are they functional? Can one size the bracelet without hammering out pins?
  12. I just have so much trouble concentrating on the topic when your avitar comes up! No wonder a pair of reps is so appealing
  13. Just an observation from the posts here. It seems more than a few replica buyers with the new 7750 in their chronographs are reporting problems with this movement. I have gotten several PM from members who know I have both a Link Chrono and a Bentley GT asking how chrono re-setting problems can be solved as well as date window alignment issues, watches running 2-3 minutes fast/day etc. This movement was a very welcome replacement for the old 19,000 bph 7750 which gave many buyers pause before they rolled the dice on a chronograph but the problem rate still seems to be high. Am I just focusing on the negative here or is this 7750 copy showing its' true colors after finding it's way into many watches in the last 6 months?
  14. Paul has this model, and the stainless black dial as well as the GST-Ti for $199. Are the two stainless models on a par with the Titanium GST chrono in terms of accuracy?? I think the dial has a slight lettering alignment issue under the day/date windows and there's the lack of lume on the hands but that's about it. I love the gold hands and accents on the white dial version. All three appear to have the new 7750 movement.
  15. Watches already incollection: Omega Broad Arrow 7750 White dial Replica Omega SMP Diver Chrono 7750 base caliber Blue Dial Genuine Rolex Stainless Submariner ETA-2836 Black std dial Replica Raymond Weil Don Giovanni Quartz Genuine Breitling Bentley GT 7750 White Dial/Cream leather strap Replica Tag Heuer Link Chronograph 7750 Blue Dial Replica Money to Spend on next purchase: (Which might be my last one for a while!!!) $200USD What would you do next????? My preference has been for high fidelity copies. I was thinking a 4th (or is it 5th now?) generation PO from Paul but that would give me 3 Omega's so..... All strong opinions welcome C
  16. Pull it out with pliers. And clear the table top for when it comes out because your pulling hand will go flying once it comes loose. These pins are a pain to get out but easy to get back in.
  17. After a morning of off and on searching, I found this site. http://www.gemnation.com/base?processor=ge...e&type=Btlg Pretty good selection but the prices are still high. I'm going to buy a genuine buckle for $25 (free second day shipping BTW) , put it on the BOB and call it a strap!
  18. I contacted my AD yesterday who told me a brown leather strap for my GT would run about $130 and croc straps would be $400 and up. There has to be a better way!!! I have a BOB strap and it's first rate but does not look original. Most of the after market straps I've seen, (and bought) with Breitling buckles are crap. Any suggestion about sources or vendors? Any sources for genuine Breitling buckles I can put on by BOB?
  19. My friend, a rusty bracelet is anything but an OK transaction. Rust stains or actual rust on the bracelet? This is supposed to be 316 grade stainless. For me, regardless of how smooth the money transaction went and how quicklly it was delivered, a rust tainted watch is simply unacceptable. if the bracelet is rusted, how do you know other parts of the watch haven't been compromised by moisture?
  20. Paul's all over it too offering a pre order price of $219 for all three models. josh has the white dial versions for $259
  21. Can you say "Lynch Mob"???? No wonder stoning was such a popular sport!!! We all love our dealers and Andrew is ceretainly one of the most repected so the rush to defend his honor is understandable but every story has another side and unanswered emails are not proof of malice or guilt. There could be a hundred reasons for what happened so before a vigilante replica retribution mob gathers momentum down under, perhaps we could all wait a little bit longer until this shakes out! 22. Just shop carefully. Paul/Chris is a good dealer and delivers what you buy quickly and in good faith but, (and this is not personal experience, just what I read and hear), if you have problems with a watch, the policy is kind of "it was working when I sent it to you". I believe refunds are not an option but exchanges within stated times or for warranted reasons are accepted. Just inspect the photos carefully. I was about to buy a VC Overseas from him until I did a side by side camparison with Joshua's VC and noticed Pauls was the older more flawed version.
  23. Absolutely. I lost the screw but replaced it with a bracelet screw from my Bentley GT bracelet and I put a little bit of crazy glue on the threads. Works solidly and perfectly. Also, don't forget to FULLY wind, at least 50 turns or more, the 7750 movement before you attempt to work or reset the chronos or you might have zeroing allignment problems. Beautiful watch and, after adjustment, my Tag is more accurate than my genuine Seamaster Pro Chronograph COsc certified chronometer. On the order of +- 3 sec/day!!!!
