  1. Yeah it is but the rotor is modified to look like the original SMP rotor which is actually on a 2892-2 movement. What doesnt look right is the display case back. I could be wrong but I dont think the SMP was ever produced with one. The rep mcompany probably installed one so yoy can show off the look alike rotot but rotor aside, the display back is a dead giveaway.
  2. Best rep for looks, reliability, accuracy of replica, price and dealer etc.... I have two sub replicas that I'm ashamed of. One is a 50th Anni. with the wrong date wheel font, a skinny minute hand and a lousy green copy bezel. The other is a black ss with a terrible dial. Please, all rep nuts, help me move up impressively for a reasonable amount of cash!!!!!
  3. Looks like I'll be able to buy a new one every 6-8 weeks with our current "mad money" budget plans. I am one lucky man!!!!
  4. I just ordered Josh's Asian 7750 SMP chrono figuring the subdials in the original config give me the best shot at reliability although from what I've read here, it looks like reliability regardless of extra gearing is a crap shoot. The one good thing about the 7750 original 12,6,9 running seconds at 9 configuration is that if it ever quits, for the same price of an overhaul I can buy a $280 Swiss 7750 from www.ofrei.com and have Ziggy install it without mods.
  5. That sounds great. I do not have much first hand experience with him as this is my second purchase but his reputation on these boards seems to be impeccable.
  6. Just got an email from Joshua who said he will be meeting with the manufacturers in a few days to discuss correction. He also said when an accurate replacement case back is available, he will send me one. We'll see!
  7. You mean SEAMASTER!!! Arughhh!! I guess this is hard even for us. To be honest, I thought I went over Joshua's pics with a fine tooth comb and I didn't notice the error. I have already emailed him to inquire about getting a seamaster case back.
  8. Well I'm really not asking the question as an indictment of their QC levels. I know what I'm getting when I get a rep. My question has to do with the specifics of the spelling and how this might slip by more often than other errors. For exapmle, from our perspective, supose we reproduced an Asian watch that had Chinese characters engraved on the back. Might we miss the significance of the difference between two characters that look exactly the same to our eye but which have a subtle difference in say the angle of a vertical stroke. Suppose this "angle" difference means the difference between Speed and Sea? Just a thought about the quirks inherent in the translation process between these two very different languages. I once recieved a piece of woodworking equipment from China that had an interesting translation in the user directions. Where it should have said "adjust the hold down screw" the literal translation was printed "adjust the hold down fu*#"!!!!
  9. I ordered Joshua's new SMP Chrono and it was pointed out in a previous post the case back is engraved "Speedmaster" despite a Seamaster seahorse/wave pattern logo on the back as well. This will be the second Omega I have with a Seamaster/Speedmaster substitution somewhere on the rep that is not the result of simply a mismatched part. Is this a language translation problem? Do the Asian rep companies not recognize the difference these few letters make. How could they reproduce a Seamaster engraved logo on a watch case back and then engrave Speedmaster on it unless they thought this was an insignificant spelling difference?
  10. For me, I own SMP Chrono so I wanted a close match for daily use.
  11. Arughhhhhh!!!!. How thw hell did I miss that? Well, ther're a few mistakes on the case back so I guess I will not be taking this off to show anyone. CK
  12. Just bought it, my second from Josh. We'll see it in the next few days. I already know my next. He has a new Sea Dweller that is exact thickness at 14.5nn for $250
  13. Actually, I'm wrong about the helium valve on the original!!!!! Go Josh. There is something a little funky about the machining of the case around the crown. It's rounded over where it meets the crown recess and the original is not quite like that. The engraved wave pattern on the back is too large in diameter and the lugs as they meet the case are different on the back side. The dial is spot on. I'd love to have this for rough wear and leave my $2500 10th anniversary gift in the drawer for work days!
  14. http://perfect-clones.com/product_info.php?products_id=1072 I have an original and just have quarrel with the length of the chrono pushers, (they are too short) and the helium valve is wrong (its not recessed like the original). The movement is an old Asian 7750 but the dials are un-altered so reliability might be better than old 7750's with added gears.
  15. I bought a Chinese automatic movement (DG2813 Asian) from cousins to put in a Sub using an aftermarket face. Sub hands fit it just fine(Min 1.00, Hr 1.50, Sec .17), but the date opening on the face was larger than the date wheel on the movement. Cousins sells a similar automatic movement (SD6D) with a wider date wheel but the hand sizes are listed with different numbers (Hands Ø - Min .80, Hr 1.35, Sec .21, ). What do these numbers mean? Do they refer to length or something else? Are the hands that fit the first movement interchangeable with the second?
  16. I never had a watch sent via "mail" stopped. This includes registered mail or any of the international priority mail incarnations. I have had several courrier shipped packages seized entering the USA from China. There are lots of customs guys in Alaska wearing replicas these days.
  17. Don't use Gorilla glue or any other foaming polyurethane glue. You'll have quite a mess on your hands. I har used 4-5 drops of gel superglue.
  18. http://www.clockspares.net/detail.asp?id=22894 I put a pic of the Miyota 8512 side by side and they look pretty close.
  19. There's a guy selling parts from an ebay store called x-jewelry selling asian 7750's for $199 as well. I don't know an asian clone mechanical movement to look at it but the price alone should be a tip off. The cheapest retail price I've seen for genuine 7750's is around $300 at orfrei.com.
  20. 316 stainless is a high quality stainless used in the best stainless watches but be forwarned, some watches claiming to be 316 stainless can be stainless plated over nickel. I don't know anything about andrew's watches.
  21. First replica purchase from fineluxurytime.com was a Daytona two tone for $250. Did not realize the chronos were non functional and that it contained a VERY inexpensive Chinese movement that sells at Cousins for about $10. Watch began gaining about 10 minutes a day after about 1 year of sporadic wearing. Omega Moonwatch from replica10.com for about $230. Again, non functioning chronos. About 4 weeks into owning the watch, the clasp pin on the bracelet, which by the way was engraved Omega SEAmaster, fell out. Miraculously, I got in contact with someone at replica10.com who gave me a mailing address for a return and exchange. Unfortunatly, the website went down while they had my watch and my repeated emails went unanswered. Never saw it or them again. In what I thought was a Godsend, I found the replica site buydesignerwatch.com run by Walter Wong. Walter answered emails, delivered what I thought was a reliable product, and was to me the best dealer of reps I had encountered. I probably bought a dozen reps from him, Submariners, Pateks, Vacherons, Glashuttes and Omegas. All three Submariners I bought from him suffered spectacular failures from bracelts popping to hands and insignia crowns falling off dials. I lost count of how many stems I pulled out of cases. What blows me away now is how much I paid for these wrecks. The Subs avereged $200 and I paid close to $600 for an ETA Submariner which I know now thanks to RWG had an asian ETA clone movement in it. Thank God I never crossed the line and bought a $1000 daytona from him since I'm convinced now his models were asian powered 7750 copies that Josh sells for about $250. I look at bestswissreplicas.com, goreplicas.com and their bretheren and see the OUTRAGEOUS prices they charge for what I now know is junk and wonder how many saps like me are being taken daily. Even so called replica informational sites like replicacenter.com promote the buying and selling of these pieces of crap for premium prices. I'm so glad RWG is here. I don't know how I missed it for so long. I figured I spent about $3000 over the past 5 years and got ripped off for just about all of it. Never again!!! Thanks RWG!!!
  22. Great, but let me pass on some hard learned lessons. Don't let your enthusiasm for the cosmetic reproduction fool you into thinking there is anything about this watch that will approach the ruggedness of the original chrono avenger. Water resistance is a meaningless rating for reps so do not get it wet. Inspect all bracelet and case screws and pins to make sure they are seated. Nothing crushes your enthusiasm more than having a beautiful rep go flying off your wrist on a concrete stairway to its' demise. Wind, set, and operate GENTLY especially chronos with asian movements. Look at your watch as a beautiful stage prop like having a great M-1 tank body reproduction over a Chevy chasis. You can intimidate the hell out of the neighbors but never take it into battle. If you treat it gently, a tall order with a titanium chunk like the Chrono Avenger, you will get your $300 worth.
  23. Water resistance means little. I know rep owners who wear them swimming with no problem and others who fog them washing their hands. Best bet is to avoid any water contact because without a repair warranty, where are you going to go? Close 6 and 9 refers to Rolex style fonts for the numbers in the date window.
  24. I wanna know who put that scratch on the bezel. Looks like someone put a lug wrench to it!
