  1. Where I was going and the point of the asking was to get information like you just provided, albeit without the ire and indignation. I'm sorry the "earings on a pig" which was an attempt at humor, was taken by you as an indictment of the Asian watch industry.
  2. Can someone please tell me what is so offensive about the questions I'm asking here? You seem to think, just by asking, I'm smearing the board with cynicisim and doubts about the authenticity of the responses or of the vast safehouse of knowlege here. I'm just asking questions! I got a wonderful response in this thread that illumined the differences between copies, licensed copies etc... but at what price to the general serenity here? Is simple question asking conveying the idea I need to be "convinced" to use your words?Maybe I should plaster smiley faces all over my posts to let you know it's being done in good faith. Do you really believe questions like this are driving old timers off this board?

  4. Josh even prints it in a special font http://perfect-clones.com/product_info.php...products_id=923 Movement: Swiss Eta 2892-2 Automatic Movement, Nickle Plated Machined Decorated With Insignia on Rotor
  5. Just asking questions my weasel labeling friend No one has been telling me different but I was VERY enthusiastic about picking up an Aqua Terra or Franck Mueller with these movements when I thought they were genuine ETAs and now, I'm not so sure. I have done a photo comparison between Josh's AT caseback and the genuine and from the photos, it's very difficult identify differences. BTW, Josh's clear caseback is VERY accurate to the original.
  6. After considerable debate, this is the one I have decided on http://www.replicacollector.com/members/in...showtopic=22668 The MWB LV is $350 delivered (although Luckyyy only takes WU transfers which will cost you $25 in addition) and has the best crown of any Ultimate LV or Ultimate standard Submariner rep I've seen. Josh's LV ultimate has a much more accurate dial (when you get into the minute differences between these reps and the genuine) but when you put the crowns side by side, it's like man vs boy. The flutes in the MBW are deep and crisp and the trademark crown is the correct proportion and well relieved. The crown on the Ultimate, (which BTW costs about $100 more but includes pre delivery servicing and adjustment as well as Josh's reputation and availability, and delivery, and return policy etc....) looks like it's been riding on it's rims for a few miles. Neither has an accurate pearl, the MBW is too domed and the Ultimate is flat and neither appears to get the color right but photographic nuances with this color green are pretty deceptive. What I'm hoping for is that the MBW is supposed to have a better feel. It is suposedly made from 440 grade stainless where the Ultimate is 316 grade. The bezel click number and sound on the MBW bezel are supposed to be superior and very close to the original. We'll see. I have nothing to go on here except for some RWG input, and photos. I have never dealt with Luckyyy and I understand him to be something of a tempermental artist so I'm taking a bit of a leap here. Joshua has been nothing short of "The Ultimate" in my dealings with him so far and I may end up endorsing his LV eventually but, for now, I'm going to take the MBW plunge. I figure if the dial and pearl inaccuracies bother me too much, but the case and bracelet are first rate, I can always swap out the bezel for a high grade generic and put a good aftermarket or perhaps genuine dial on it eventually. As you can see from the crown comparison photo's, Josh's crown guards are modified a little too thin as well. The MBW is closest to the original in this regard too.
  7. So I guess this ST-18 is not the precursor to the official "Swiss polished" 2892-A2 but rather a copy of that movement? What indication do we have that it is a high tolerance copy and not something manufactured to look like the 2892 but without the acuracy and longevity? Since the rotor hub on the 2892 is the signature landmark I use to identify it, how do we know Seagull isn't putting nice earings (rotor) on a pig?
  8. Oooooh I smell a comission!!! The tall case clock is my personal favorite followed closely by the highboy.
  9. Ahhhh having one's buttons pushed, not a pretty sight! I think having saved up some big time resentments from work and the stupid mentoring process there makes me have a hair trigger for this kind of stuff. Sorry for all the pit bull type anger Woodworking is a great hobby Here's a few links to some of my woodworking pics http://www.woodcentral.com/shots/shot329.shtml http://www.woodcentral.com/shots/shot293.shtml http://www.woodcentral.com/shots/shot368.shtml http://www.woodcentral.com/shots/shot489.shtml http://www.woodcentral.com/shots/shot697.shtml http://www.woodcentral.com/shots/shot552.shtml http://www.woodcentral.com/shots/shot376.shtml
  10. Hey guys, that's a 28,000bph new asian 7750 in there So glad to see these making it into other replicas. Have there been datewheel issues with them before? http://perfect-clones.com/product_info.php?products_id=1357
  11. Imagine that!!! I'm not trying to change the world here but I do think the well must have been somewhat poisoned from the start. An initial attitude can pervade any institution. When I was in residency, 36 hour shifts, no matter how tough, no matter how many mistakes were made by exhausted doctors in training, were the norm several times a week because that's how the old guard did it and damn the newcomers demanding consideratrion and a life, they are going to pay their dues the same way they did. This was the norm until some high profile mistakes in NY hospitals 15 years ago got national attention and now, hospitals that require more than a carefully restricted #'s of hours from their doctors in training can loose their accreditation. Some attitudes and traditions are just plain stupid. I thought we were here to share knowlege and ideas. If a new resident asks "How do I start this IV", I sure as hell don't tell them "Go ask a nurse kid, I'm here to answer the important questions" and believe me, I've run into my share of a-holes who would do just that. That attitude of "propriatory knowlege" has always irked me. What's the point in making a novice feel like an imposition as well as an idiot? OK, I am offically foaming at the mouth now!!!!
  12. Oi veh!!! BTW, I have read the information on Subs in the newbie section. It was posted 10 days ago and it is already somewhat out dated. I guess my gripe is if someone has a question that is too basic for your tastes, what is the compulsion with needing to let them know how "unwelcome" or "un-curteous" their post is? Let those of us who love to stand around the water cooler and chew on "How about those Yankees huh, think they're gonna take it this year?" for the umpteenth time have our air space. I didn't see anyone yelling "why won't they tell me what I want to know?" just some haughty disgust with "There they go again!"
  13. You just proved my point. No one is asking YOU. If your hackles get riled then stay out and save your precious time and typing fingers. There are plenty of other threads on this site worthy of your expertise. If your defense is "veterans politely treated me like crap when I first came here and asked stupid questions so I'm just following the intolerance tradition" then do us ignorant slobs a favor and step out. I'd sooooo much rather participate in a discussion thread where enthusiastic questions are asked than to be lectured to by 6 megaposters who berate me and others for being "too lazy to do a detailed search". I have searched the archives for the meat of the discussion here. Guess what? There is little if anything pertaining to MBW modern sub replicas. Questions and answers about the fluid topic of the best of the most copied watch in the world are not going to be answered in a 3 month old thread. I've been a period woodworker for 20 years and I can't tell you how many times the trade publications run "Best router for use in a router table" polls and articles. Know why? Because the product is always changing. What the heck is the problem in asking "Hey, does Luckyy really sell 440 grade stainless Submariners and has anyone out there had one in their hands recently?" other than apparently messing the hair of a few so called experts who believe "we've been there...done that".
  14. Well if that's how you react to a question from a newbie, that it's a demand for information, the keys to the kingdom as such, then you have an overinflated sense of what's going on here and the role you play in it.
  15. OK, I'll try to not get all frothy here again. (hey, I suggest YOU do a search for irate posters who can't understand why pompus posters get so incensed at newbie posters. By-Tor and I went 12 rounds over this a few weeks ago). First of all, if you think my posts in a topic dialogue were meant to pad my post count, then your many references to saving time and effort here are explained and itls pretty obvious you really don't know what a DISCUSSION board is all about. I personally have not visited a pizza and ribs DISCUSSION board but I would expect to find exactly the same kind of threads you so mockingly described. If you get so impatient with questions you deem below you, why don't YOU start "RWG3...The Expert Site". Using terms like "lazy" "Do your own work" etc do not apply here my friend. I HAVE done the leg work, I have done the searches. What I'm looking for is opinion and experience. Isn't that what we're here for? If I had a genuine LV and a MBW LV in my posession and posted a detailed comparison with photos, and three months later some 30 post newcomer had the misfortune of asking "Which is best?", call me crazy and an old f&%$*#$ softie, but I wouldn't jump down his/her throat for being a lazy and "search button challenged". I would actually get some satisfaction and pleasure from having the information they want close at hand. "A time saving thing"??????? What sort of hurry are you in here? "THE BEST IS SUBJECTIVE"????? No kidding genius, that's why OPINIONS are interesting, helpful, interesting etc.... Oh Oh...I'm starting to froth!
  16. Yes and be aware that every week, these lists will change. I just looked at Josh's Ultimate LV, Luckyy's MBW LV and, imagine this, Rolex's LV side by side in pictures and Josh's is the closest. Luckyy's CGs are way off and the rehaut is too deep. I just wish someone would make a submariner with a bracelet that feels original. That's why I was going to pull the trigger on Luckyy's 440 stainless Sub. Even the best appearing replicas fail the feel test.
  17. Just now, Josh posted an LV Ultimate for about $490 delivered, waterproofed and case modded, deep rehaut, servicing and COSC like performance adjustment in 316 stainless. Is this better than Luckyy's MBW LV in 440 for $350? Every minute moves the best target!
  18. ...and I submit, anyone who thinks another "who has the best sub" thread here is a waste of time needs to read these posts. This is an ever shifting target and never fails to inspire interesting dialogue. IMHO spending upwards of $800 for a MBW vintage that has the crap modified out of it is a waste. I for one would rather get a $500 Ultimate from Josh that can go in the pool, passes CG and cyclops muster and had a minor pearl issue but looks brand new than have an OEM compatable vintage that looks like it's been through the mill for the last 40 years. I'm just not a vintage guy I suppose. What's the point of having something that is indistinguishable from the original in a replica if no one knows what an original looks like.
  19. Questions that fall below an arbitrary line of infered thought push some major buttons in some around here. I just don't understand it but I'm a little tired of being put off by it
  20. Can you let me know what you think of Luckyy's LV. I want an LV and I'm this close to buying it.
  21. I have looked at Luckyy's available subs. The only modern sub he offers is the LV. Is this the one you are talking about? The rehaut is massivly deep like the genuine. The price is $350 delivered. He says it's 440 grade stainless. Is this correct?
