  1. I started that thread and I am essentially done with RWI over the treatment of it. That thread had a TON of replies and views. It was a very popular thread, but apparently it wasn't good enough to keep. I even donated (quite a bit) to RWI. I'm calling RWG my new home. Z
  2. gen. How much did it cost?
  3. It was a joke, meant to tease you. Most people that love vinyl are rabid about it in a psuedo-religous manner. I guess it worked a bit more than I thought. You may want to have your meds dosage adjusted. cheers, Z
  4. I should just stay out of this, but for the benefits of the kids. No one "gets it" better when you are rude and yell. In real life or in teh intarnets.
  5. that was me. I think I was the first to do this. the watch is perfect now. I love it. No pics right now, sorry!
  6. I told the seller it was a fake and sent pictures of the real deal movement. here's the response: "thanks you're right turns out all the panerai's we have instock were not authentic except 3 or four of them" I can't say for sure if this is sarcasm, a joke, or serious. Z
  7. Update: Thanks CLS for the good eye and pics. I got a very large hires scan and tweaked my printing: - the M and N were too wide. Fixed that. You were right - the R was a little too wide. Fixed that. - Angle on A was wrong. Fixed that. - O was too oval. Fixed that. - actual spacing on characters was a little off, the LUMINOR and MARINA do not line up directly under each other. That was fixed. I sent the files to Davidsen.
  8. If something is worth doing... it's worth doing right. Davidsen has been very receptive to any help we can give to make the dials "perfect". I don't think we're offending him, I think we're recognizing that not only has he done a kick-ass job building a dial, he's got a GREAT attitude towards other people helping him perfect it. Kinda like open source software, lots of eyes make any bug shallow.... lots of eyes make a perfect panerai dial Z
  9. I used photoshop to cut the "N" and "R" from the "LUMINOR MARINA" on the top part of the dial and pasted it into the "PANERAI" on the bottom. the font heights look the same to me, any small discrepencies can be explained by the angle of the picture and the resolution, but there really isn't any difference in height that I can tell. What we really really need is a high res large picture of a gen dial.
  10. not sure exactly what you mean. Please send me the gen dial scan and I'll alter my work. I overlaid the work I did on the best version of a gen 111 dial I could get but the 111 picture was not taken head on.
  11. date wheels are hard to make. It might be easy to make/alter a font, but building the datewheel is a pain in the ass.
  12. Hey guys - here's my first go at the proper font and font spacing. I used the Sveningsson font, but I had to use FontLab to alter the L, M, N, O, P, R I had to use FontLab to adjust the weight of the font since it was a bit thin Then I overlayed the font on top of the dial (the best picture I had) Then I had to go in and manually adjust the kerning between the fonts to get the spacing correct. I think overall it looks pretty good. Any suggestions? I can alter the font or the spacing if required. I have the files (TTF, EPS, AI, JPG). PM me if you want them. please comment and I'll get this thing nailed and sent off to D.
  13. The movement is a lot nicer than the old version. There was a minor improvement in the tachy ring, but it's still not correct. the font is off. The gen has a slighly more vertically compressed, less bold font. The other problem is the 1 on the chrono @ 3 is serif, on the gen it's san-serif. Man - if they fixed those two little problems (and maybe used a better blue paint onthe chrono hand) That would be one of the best pam reps out there.
  14. i have an email saying not removable. maybe the removal tool is for something else, but it isn't for those 1.3mm hex screws in the back.
  15. the screws on the back are there to hold the lugs on. The lugs are removeable on this watch. The lugs on the rep will not be removeable. I was and am still hoping they drop in some real hex screws on the back even if they don't hold the lugs in.
  16. where did you guys find reference to the size of the gen? I've looked and found a couple different sizes (including amazon listing it as 38x38) please post linkage. Z
  17. I got it from TWG - he has offered to get it fixed/replace it so I'm happy about that. The only issue for me is whether this is endemic to the design and if the new one will come with the same issue. Z no pics of the problem right now, maybe later
  18. mine has the same problem. I was NOT able to unscrew the tiny screws. They were stuck in there pretty much permanently. I took the movement out and tried to figure out a way to tighten down the bezel, but didn't have time to figure it out. Anyone have any experience with this? Are all GT's experiencing the loose bezel problem? Z
  19. Take a nice small screwdriver and pry up each side bit by bit. I then had to cut the feet off with a razorblade. Then I re-flattened the cross and glued 'er on.
  20. I did this mod and it turned out fine. If I was doing it again I could do a better job. Removing the cross isn't the issue, putting the right amount of glue and re-attaching the other better cross is difficult. I plan on making flavorflav's mods soon to have a 99.9% perfect vc overseas!
  21. How many people here would pay more for superlume? Show of hands - I'd rather have it printed on, then hand-painted on. It'll look much better, and actually cost less. If you end up printing more dials due to demand, the price should actually come down as there will be significant setup costs that will be mitigated over the number of dials printed. Please consider Superlume! Z
