  1. The thick case looks like King's version...but her crystal had coke bottle distortion...He valve does not look too great but the crown guards are a big improvement. Wow all the links are removed...i thought I had small wrists :)

IMO, the worst aspect about the watch is the thick case...it just does not sit right on the wrist...especially with thin wrists.

I've given up trying to find a decent SMP.

6.5 inche wrist - what can i say? THe bracelet links are larger than usual too. I compared this case with one from the older closed factory version and it is only thicker but a tad. Just looks chunky.

I'm actually going to try and put a quartz into this watch - have the Omega movement sourced and hands obtained. Just need the dial. Only problem now is that the case is much thicker than I thought so I will need to really work on this to make it fit right.

  2. Nice pictorials but I would still say that the He valve is not located at the correct position. Somehow lug to lug distance looks compressed/shorter than genuine too.

Yes, its not as good as the original, nor the closed factory models. But it is better than the usual direct 10 o clock casings.

Thanks for the comment. I can't seem to correct my original post to reflect your comment. Any ideas?

  3. Hi everyone, its been a while since I've written something for RWG. Some of you guys remember that I have a love for Omegas and have assembled pretty much most of the Omega variations - SMP, SMP 007 Limited, SMP Black, SMP GMT, SMP ELectric Blue.

Recently, I was able to source a SMP - relatively newer model - which differed to what most collectors offer. Well, it came in the post yesterday and some member's requests, I decided to write up a short review of this watch.

    1. CASE: An overall very solid watch, casing is heavy and areas that should be polished are polished. From first impressions, it looks quite good but it is a little thick.

    2. DIAL: Details are quite accurate with no oversized "300m/1000ft". However, the lume is not as strong as other SMPs that I've come across. The wave pattern is quite prominent, my pictures do not reflect it though, sorry about that.

    3. BEZEL: This part of the watch has its good and its not so good. The biggest improvement is that it is 120 clicks which is true of the genuine. Also, the shade of blue is accurate, it is more accurate than the SMPs that Paul, Silix, Trusty offer. The not-so-good side is the bezel pearl, which was a little oversized, I have replaced it with a much more accurate pearl.

    4. CRYSTAL: Nice sapphire crystal with no distortion. It sits very snuggly and does not protrude above the bezel - very fitting.

    5. CROWN: Oversized. This part will need to be replaced to make it more accurate. Replacing will not be hard.

    6. HEV: Located quite accurately, slightly above the 10 o clock marker.

    7. MOVEMENT: Gold-colored ETA 2836 (most likely an Asian version)

    8. BRACELET: Details are decent. The endlinks are not a 9 piece construction, but rather one piece.

  4. I remember a while back when one of our members linked us to the website of the ETA Sa Hong kong site which had all of the breakdown of the various movements available.

Does anyone have that? I ran a search but didn't get anything and I remember it was in the knowledge base section but I can't find it in there either.

    Thanks in advance.

    ^_^

  5. I would not worry about any issues with PP if the money has been in your account for a while already.

I used to actively buy and sell on the bay and had no problems withdrawing close to $5K USD onto my account.

Thanks for the quick reply Anton,

Payment was just made via paypal from a buyer from the bay. Would that make a difference? I've heard stories of people having as little as $600 withdrawn, get their accounts frozen or security checked.

  6. Hey guys,

Sorry about the title, made a mistake but can't edit it now.

Love to hear some expert advice. I have over $1000 AUD in my PP account at the moment and would like to transfer into my bank account but dont want to encounter any frozen account issues or the likes. Can someone please advise how to do so? as in what is the most i can transfer out under the radar?

    thank so much.

  7. Very true....still stupid though :D

Not sure how that makes it stupid........Its perfectly possible - running seconds hits 60 seconds, the chronograph seconds hand is making its first minute, therefore the minute tracker hasnt shifted.

    hmmm.......

  8. We make up less than 10% of the replica watch sells. How do you expect a minority group to have any impact? don't like it? blame democracy! haha.

Simply put, you know what you were in for when you got hooked on this hobby. Getting faulty illegal goods doesn't technically give you much right to call foul - as in you won't be able to hand in that receipt for exchange - this aint walmart. Plus the board cannot possibly police thoroughly the dealers who we can only assume are doing their best to make these items possible for us.

Lastly, our standards have increase exponentially. There are people asking for refunds for a scratch on the bracelet or no AR on the crystal when it was advertised as having. We all need to learn to compromise - and put in perspective what is actually important in our lives - WTF is watches on a large scale? jesus...

  9. I've actually been looking at doing the bond quartz for a while now. But i've yet to encounter a 2nd hand quartz dial on the bay. They use to be so many but now no more....strange....

Otherwise, the movement is easy to get a hold of, I have a source that I know which is quite cheap, and the hands shouldn't be hard to source either. Its just the dial at the moment.

  10. Not a good idea i'm afraid.

I would recommend you take down the information as i'm sure this particular watchmaker does not want to be associated with replicas considering he works on and may be authorized dealers of certain swiss brands. Although your idea is a great one, we don't want to create trouble for these authorized watch places.

We will have to work on gathering a hidden list of some sort.
