^^^^thank you aligoat for clearing up our confusion as to the problems with the case back. I have no probs with it, it was just a surprise to see it was on the euromariner with the bigger price tag than the noob, that's all. Glad to hear yours was problem free. After taking off the bracelet and putting it back on I noticed my bezel insert is spinning freely in the bezel. I have no probs with glueing it, but I thought these were supposed to snap in, and not need glue. (in case I want to switch to a gen or jewleryoutlet in the future) Obviously not I guess. Anyone else have experience? Agreed, as I am sure this will be resolved as well. As of yet, I have yet to receive a resolution for my problems.

Since we are noobs, and you are proposing to have superior prospective on this matter since you have been here longer, I will spend a moment to respond to voice for the noobs. I do not agree with some of the things you have written. Moreover, the tone of this post is disappointing from a member such as you with more seniority. We paid for something and we did not get it. We paid for a QC'd watch. None of us would be a bunch of nitpicky little babies if we ordered a drop shipped $98 noobmariner. Let me remind you or the seller's QC service that we PAID for since you have been on this forum so long and your memory may be slipping. First, you are mistaken about the case backings. Here is a link with Chris's NOOB with the 2813, and with the CORRECT case back. I would have assumed the more expensive euromariner with a 2813 would have had at least the same quality or if not better than the noob, since it costs more than twice as much. http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn154/e...r-black-685.jpg A year ago, a sub rep with eta was not $500+, was it? Most people mod their watch to enhance their watch, NOT fix things that came broken on the watch, especially on a EXTENSIVELY QC'D WATCH. Here you go again failing to recognize that we paid for a service that we did NOT GET. No one is complaining about having to mod their watch to enhance it or to "make it kick a$$." We all should have the Clark's crystal already, which is standard on the euromariner. $$$ is not the only way to contribute to this forum. In case you haven't looked at the pinned section of the rolex area, information seems to provide a good avenue to support the community. Let's face it, most people become supporters to sell their stuff anyways so please be careful you don't fall off your pedestal. I hear it's a long way down. Can you please list the problems that came with your euromariner and post some pictures? Did you get the polfy caseback? below is the noob from Eurotimez

Ok, thanks. It's not terribly inaccurate ,loses a few minutes or so a day. I wonder if the eta's second hand are a little jittery as they move around the dial. I know they tick 8 bpm, but it doesn't look smooth on the 4813. (this is only under close inspection of a WIS of course!!!) It the eta's have a nice smooth sweep I might invest in one in the future. Hope Chris from ET is doing ok. He is an asset to this community and is missed!

well, seems as everyone has there own recipe. Some use 3 in 1, cooking oils, etc. Here's the recipe that I like I use this when I am working on my friends watches before I hand them back. A nice bracelet tune up if you would. I buff the corners with a polishing compound on my dremel on low speed. Then, I clean it really well with soapy water to remove grime. I use a toothbrush. I use wd 40 first and really soak the bracelet. I move the links around till they are nice and freely moving. If this is a new bracelet, I am not afraid to give it some love and pull on it a little to stretch it out if the movement is restricted. Then I clean again gently. Next comes the olive oil bath. I let it soak as long as time permits. I also move the links while submerged. Then I GENTLY clean with lightly soaped water till almost all the oil is gone. Then I dry using a polishing/cleaning cloth. And viola! Enjoy!

From one noob to another, How about you contribute to the forum by going out there and doing it yourself, and then share with the rest of us? Cheers mate!

QC sounds like a good way to go to avoid drop shipped problems. Only problem is, there are several others besides me who ordered from a qc'ing collector and received sub standard quality reps. I have only ordered one rep, and I ordered it from one of the few collectors on here who claims high qc standards, therefore product takes longer and costs more. Mine arrived after 2 1/2 weeks with glue around the pearl, scratched bezel, a crooked dial, (and what's looking like a crooked bezel as well) and a crown that is a pain to screw down. So much for the QC theory. I agree, the poor quality is a huge deterrent for the rep business. I don't think I'll ever buy another one, and have only bought 1! What attracted me to watches was the time and precision that went into making them. The rep I have says "I don't care about quality, I just want to make $$$." And quite frankly, I don't want that kind of crap on my wrist. I would rather spend my +$300 on a nice seiko automatic in the future.

Oiling would give it a silky feel. When you are rinsing the oil, don't rinse 100% of it. Leave like 5% oil on it and it feels gooooooooood. Also, move the links around while submerged in the oil.

^^^^they are. Mine is a noisy 4813 that I can hear ticking from a mile away with a rotor that makes all kinds of racket. I should have went with the wm9 when it was on sale.
-
Mine took 2 1/2 weeks to arrive. Not too bad I guess if it got all the qc I thought I was waiting and paying for. However, mine arrived with a scratched bezel, glue around the pearl, a crown that I can barely get to screw in, and a crooked dial. I have yet to hear a response in regards to my situation, all I received was the standardized email saying how busy things were etc, let alone "compensation." In a couple of days, it be a week since I received the watch and have had no specific response to these problems. So 3 1/2 weeks and +$300 for a watch that just sits in my drawer kinda sucks. anyways, your v2 looks nice. I would sand down the bracelet edges and let it soak in some oil.

Wow BT! That new GMT II looks great! Maybe a review is in the workd? Which collector did you purchase from? Your white dial franken is still my fav though! Very classy indeed.
-
dood, why did you quote all the pics, lol? They are RIGHT above your post. Anyways, watch looks nice! Rehaut engravings look pretty good actually. How was your experience dealing with PT? Shipping time, communication? I think I need to find a new collector to purchase from in the future.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I've been practicing on a few cheap watches. I really enjoy taking them apart and reassembling them. I rotated one asain movement slightly and it screwed the crown all up. It would not run when you wound it down, or it would start and stop and weird times during the time/date setting procedure. It seems that the tolerance for the stem line is very small! This makes me afraid to try it on this watch. How noisy should a DG4813 be? ticking? rotor? Mine is very noisy. I can hear it ticking from a mile away. Oh well, still waiting to hear back from Chris. Until then, I'm out over $300 and 3 weeks for a watch I wouldn't even wear.
-
Well, my crown doesn't fit so well. It's is a pain to screw down, almost like it's impossible to. So, hopefully this symptom is stemming from the rotated movement issue. lol, me too! Well, I'm going to wait till I hear from Chris before I touch anything on this watch. cheers!

well, I borrowed this pic (thank you toad!) to illustrate this for verification in case I am to be adventurous. All I need to do is loosen these two screws? Seems pretty easy...(says the noob!) And if goo gone will clear up the bezel, I think I should be in good shape. The pearl itself doesn't look too bad. I already bought a WM, but it looks like it wasn't qc'd very well either, so this one looks ok IMO. Anyone want to drill bigger lug holes!?!?!

Thanks guys. Also, feel free to post up and add to this if you'd like. cheers

A Funny Thing Happened on the way to Leave Feedback

Which sellers went down?!?!?! This is going to make hunting for parts a lot more difficult! -
Fake box sets are still being sold on the bay as genuine, so watch out! Most of the flaws are obvious but I thought a side by side comparison would be nice for future reference. Quality is probably the biggest difference. On the sleeve, the color can be a dead giveaway. Some reps are too green... This example does not have the Rolex Oyster print in the correct lower left position. Gen vs rep The gen pillow and cloth should have a nice suede-like texture to them. Rep is some flimsy foamy cloth. Most fakes will have the ROLEX printed in the center on the inside of the box, they are easy to spot. It should be in the corner. This particular example goes to that extent, but the differences in font etc are noticeable under gross examination. gen on left rep on right Quality is absent. gen on left rep on right gen on left On the outside, the wrong material, stitching, and logo are present on the rep. Gen left rep right Hope this is of help! cheers!

Yeah, now that you mention it and I think about it, this explains perfectly why the crown is a pain to screw down. At first I thought it just had rep gunk on the thread, but after cleaning (which helped a little) it was still not remedied. It takes several times to get it to go. Sometimes I don't even close it down because I am afraid to strip the crown tube or crown itself.
-
Yup, it has a little handwritten qc sticker on it. Currently I'm waiting on his reply. If it's easy (for a noob mind you!) to adjust the dial and remove the glue without harming the bezel; than I'd rather do that than send it back and wait another 3 wks for a replacement and give him the hassle if it's unnecessary.
-
Crooked dial is the big one....and the scratches on the bezel give me the impression it's pretty delicate. Any suggestions as to what can I use to take the glue off that won't hurt the bezel? Goo gone too strong?
-
Just arrived today. The Clark crystal looks pretty good, and the bezel doesn't sit terribly high. \ gen for comparison Since this is my first rep, I was wondering are these easy things to fix and are these normal variations to find on my watch? And, are the noob bracelets notorious for being a pain to open the clasp? (my thumbnail has battle wounds already lol!)
-
Yes, I ordered from eurotimez. It's looking like it's going to be in no sooner than the 3 wk mark before it arrives according to EMS. The difference on the dials is your opinion. To me, it's not a terribly obvious defect in the lighting that it was photographed. I would like to see it in broad natural daylight though. ok, enough threadjacking! Apologies!
-
Wow, looks great! It's difficult to see the incorrect hand stack. well, seems as though he ordered it from Chris and it has grime, I would assume yours would too. I placed an order for a single watch 2 1/2 weeks ago and it's still in route to the CONUS via EMS. The white face should have black surrounds on the hour markers gen noob
