so one of the tab screws on my breitling blackbird fell off, and i'm wondering what people who have had this happen in the past have done. will one of our trusted dealers source replacement screws (i doubt it)? if not, has anyone found a source for screws that works for breitilng bezel tabs?
i searched and found that ofrei has a bunch of different boxes of mixed screws; anybody tried any of these before?
alternatively, if someone has a spare blackbird bezel they would be willing to sell (or even better, a spare screw )?
thanks in advance

yes, don't bother with a comex....

i agree 100% with watchmeister. sell the watch and do something else with the money.
if you're feeling bold, why not throw the money in TVIX for a couple months. who knows, you might be able to buy more a couple gens if the world falls apart

any suggestions on replacing the insert and/or adding a pearl?...or should i just let it be?...
i think aging the insert a bit and putting in a yuki or ofrei pearl would certainly add a lot to the watch, but maybe i'm just crazy & obsessed

wear it as a badge of honor
i would love to add "getting banned from a genuine watch forum" to my accolades as well, but i just can't be bothered to post anywhere else

fantastic review.
one suggestion re: the watch sitting high on the wrist -- try putting the DSSD on a nato -- i've found it helps secure the watch and feel a lot less top heavy.
thanks again for a great review

Pics would be great but if you get a chance to put your rep next to the gen and are satisfied with the dial then I am sold.
totally agreed.

As far as the color being darker, I didn't see that when I got a chance to see the gen today. Could be the lighting one of the posters was under when he made that observation.
so did you have the two side by side B? if so, any more thoughts / conclusions? sounds like this one might be a winner

as alligoat says, welcome to RWG
oh and be careful, you may soon need to change your login name -- lots of folks come here and things quickly get out of hand (hang on to your wallet!!)

One of the long-timers here tells a story of going into a Rolex AD and being called out on his Gen vintage single Red, because the Rolex sales girl thought all Rolex bezels *must* click and be uni-directional to be genuine.
A salesperson is a salesperson ... most of the time.
The story continues that an older gentleman behind the counter whisked her aside and took the watch in his own hands and almost wept over it. He knew his stuff, but she did not.
jkay you've got your story wrong
it wasn't single red -- it was double red!!

ps, no, it wasn't mine (unfortunately)

regarding your comment regarding the tiny bracelet for such a big watch, that is definitely the most common complaint about the DSSD -- it is topheavy and feels odd on the wrist.
one suggestion -- try putting the DSSD on a nato -- i've found it helps secure the watch and feel a lot less topheavy.
all the best,

love the look of that strap; where did you get it?

I know this is a little of the thread but wanted to know if a yuki dial considered a rep or a Gen that's been repainted ?
it would be considered a rep

thanks for the review; looking forward to seeing more pics

also if you look close you can see some light spotting (tiny white pinpoint dots) on the dial; i'm guessing this one was flooded at some pointed, at the very least relumed and as nanuq has pointed out, potentially repainted as well.
i'd tell your friend to keep looking; there are plenty of great 1675s out there. this one is a particularly nice set (albeit pricey for a normal 1675); throw some new hands on there and you have a watch for the ages

another random question (i keep forgetting to stop into my local AD to check) -- anybody know if the the cyclops has AR on it on the genuine?

something made me think of FLB, so i figured why not bump this thread for an entertaining saturday read for some of the newer folks that didn't get to experience FLB's brief time on the board back in the day

just kidding of course. welcome to RWG -- it really is one the most amazing (and easily accessible) resources out there. at first you will probably feel like you are drinking out of a firehose (especially with regard to PAM model numbers and various abbreviations), but worry not -- you will soon find yourself right at home (and nitpicking every little detail on the reps you end up purchasing ).
thanks for introducing yourself; don't hesitate to jump right in and join the discussion

i'm just seeing this thread; fun variety of pics TT.
re: the one above, obviously the girl in the picture has better taste in watches than the man in the picture. how embarrassing

ps, i think this thread would be better titled "twotone's pinterest board"
