  1. i'd be pretty skeptical on this one......that seller account is suspect....the last feedback is from december 2001; they've never sold anything on ebay (all 22 feedback are from sellers)....buyer beware....if it feels too good to be true, most of the time it probably is....

  2. Out of curiosity, where would be a nice place to get the PO? I am just thinking, but these rubber pics are making me a convert.

i went with the ultimate PO lite from josh and the rubber strap from silix; i have to say i don't think you can find a more attractively priced combo for a great, sporty watch. the bracelet has a quality feel to it, but i like the watch 5x more with the rubber strap. you should know that the uPO lite has a slightly different (asian) datewheel, so it might not be for you if you're picky about perfect date fonts, etc.

  3. i'd keep the 42mm watch (unfixed) and put the dollars towards a new one. then when you eventually send one of your watches to ziggy for mods/servicing/whatever, see if he can fix it for less (ziggy does incredible work for much cheaper than you'd expect).

  4. jules borel has TONS of parts and ordering is super easy (click here for their website)....after you place an order for the first time, they give you a call and get your credit card information; afterwards, they will fill your online orders w/o any additional follow-up.

to find their springbars on their site, click "horological" along the left side, then "spring bars - all types"

    hope this helps.

  5. I had the same problem (strap flexing away from the case) with my strap. I solved it by squeezing in a thicker springbar, 1.78mm I think. That solved the problem. Now, I can strap it thight on my wrist with no flex whatsoever. :)

interesting. i noticed that the springbar was loose on mine too and figured that was the problem (the other side of the strap didn't have that issue & the springbar wasn't loose); i tried wrapping my springbar in masking tape to make it thicker, but couldn't get it to go in the strap without the masking tape peeling off. now that you've confirmed that this fixes the problem, maybe i will try some more sturdy tape this time :g:

  6. So add in the cost of re-luming, servicing the movement, putting in a new datewheel, just to get this rep up to par

    up to par?

have you seen any/many of the new reps out of the factory that's making these super reps lately (ie. HBB, chronomat evolution, steelfish superocean, probably EL's iwc 3717)? they are IMPRESSIVE right out of the box far beyond most other standard reps. i think the costeau divers will be no exception.

but to address your other thoughts/concerns:

re: lume, i'm the first one to hope for quality lume on this thing -- i think it is an important part of this rep. will it be super luminova? doubtful. but if the lume is the same quality as EL's 3717, i think i'll be satisfied.

re: servicing the movement, this is a "to each his own" type question. i haven't had any issues with any of my new asian 7750 movements (know on wood) out of the box. if/when i do have any issues, i'll have them serviced, or better yet, put in a genuine eta 7750 (ziggy put the myth that this isn't possible to bed in his post here).

re: new datewheel, the datewheels are very expensive from cousins (maybe $5), and not all of us are that nitpicky....

    just my $0.02

  7. i'll confirm i have this issue as well (was going to post about it but didn't find the time)....however, it doesn't really happen on mine unless i squeeze the strap at the lugs (to try to make it conform to my skinny wrists!!)..

  8. A fair complaint that is yet to be resolved actually. Some members continually moan and I'm getting pretty sick of reading meaningless irritating posts about nothing but rubbish half the time and I'm slowly loosing interest in this particular board as a re others I think!

if you look at the original post, he wasn't moaning or complaining at all -- he was asking if finepics is willing to take on any more work.

i actually agree with you about the whole complaining thing....just thought your comment was a little ironic given you have a whole thread where you've been complaining about having issues with getting your iwc 3717. this is not to say that your frustration isn't warranted -- i would be frustrated too if i were going through the same thing.
