  1. I'm not sure of the value of this model but if it's higher than his start bid this could be a good deal for someone who lives local to the seller, it looks dodgy so probably wont get any bids, and he says he doesn't expect anyone to buy it unseen, so make the bid and if you win you don't pay until you can go with him to Watche of Switzerland and pick it up.

i was thinking the same thing. you can find some good deals on ebay if you know what you're doing....

  2. DOH! Okay, I'm an idiot... I was depressing the button but wasn't pushing the pin out... was just trying to pull the bracelet away from the case... completely forgot about pushing out the pin... thanks so much!

    Cheers!

    Kirk

you're welcome! :victory: happy to help.

if you get a chance, take some pics of the ingy ti chrono on the nylon strap when you have a chance -- i'm curious to see how it looks...

  3. you're right -- the series speciale navitimer with seconds at 9 shouldn't be shiny (polished). it is possible to brush a polished case and/or bracelet, but you need the necessary tools. i would go and talk to your watchmaker and see if they would be willing to do the work for you -- they should have the right tools.

so to answer your other question, yes -- if you can find someone to do it for you -- you can get the polished version that you are looking at from andrew or eddie and have your watchmaker brush the case.

    good luck....

Now wat u said regarding polishing or scrubbin the braclet wat does dat mean bro...didnt quite understand that....pls help me with that....THANKXXXXXXXXXXX pls dun get mad about my questions its just gona help me choose my best watch....which is appreciated by moi ;)

    my response:

the series special navitimer (the subdials at 12, 9 and 6) should have a brushed case, similar to this watch that joshua sells. if you look at the those picures compared to the picture you attached previously [url="http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e186/300thomas/BREITLING%20GALLERGY/NAVITIMER/?action=view

  5. wow....that was quite a rant.

i have a navitimer and am happy with this watch (and haven't had any movement issues). if you are really concerned with movement issues, i would suggest a series speciale seconds at 9 navitimer (note however that the cases on these apparently should be brushed, not polished).

my biggest suggestion to you would be to go to a breitling AD and look at gen navitimers so you know what they look like in person, on your wrist. study the minor details (subdials, rotating bezel ring, etc) and then look at all the pictures on here of navitimers and see if you think you would be happy with the rep. some people just won't ever be happy with reps; it is important to have realistic expectations -- remember these watches are being put together in china with (in most cases) very little quality control.

    hope this helps,

  6. randy your knowledge about this stuff is incredible -- seriously. can i ask one last question (i promise it will be my last)?

what should i be looking for in an end link to make sure it will fit properly? for instance, i found these two ebay auctions for 78350 bracelets with end links that don't appear to have the springbar notch, but are stamped 557. any suggestions on how to determine whether or not end links stamped 557 (or any other number for that matter) will fit/work with the 6263?

    thanks again,

  7. So I was preety happy when she later gave me "green light" to pull the trigger. But this not enough - the very next day she suprised me with a genuine blue diverstrap!

wow -- your wife sounds like a keeper. great pictures of a sporty combo -- i think it looks good...

  8. I can get you genuines... Those will run $150-ish though :(

yikes!! :o i don't think genuine 571's are in my future....

Alternatively... You can probably pick up a genuine 7835 or 78350 bracelet (correct for a 6263/5) with ends on eBay for under $300.00.

i generally have pretty good luck finding deals on ebay, so this is probably the route i will go. quick question though -- should the endlinks for any 7835 or 78350 bracelet work? for instance, if you look at this auction, there is an auction for a 7835 bracelet, but the endlinks are stamped 357. i'm guessing i need to find a bracelet with endlinks stamped 571? if not, which numbers would be (most?) compatible? there is also currently an auction here with 19mm endlinks stamped 455....

As for the crown/tube... Just the standard 7mm Triplock would work. 24-703 and 24-7030. Ziggy probably has these in stock.

perfect. i'll have ziggy take care of the crown & tube when he puts the new crystal in.....

thanks for all your help randy -- i really appreciate it.

  9. wow -- great pics wolf, and beautiful watch. :victory: this iwc just keeps growing on me.

i'm curious -- did you do some polishing of this one with a cape cod cloth before taking these pics? the watch looks a bit shinier than other pictures i've seen.

  10. thanks a bunch guys -- the t-21 in question has been purchased.

@pugwash, after a trip to ziggy (i don't have a crystal press and probably wouldn't trust myself to do it even if i did), this one will definitely have its fair share of coffee table photos -- don't worry.

re: getting the other parts on ubi's list, do these vintage models use special crowns/tubes, or will the genuine crowns & tubes that ziggy has/uses fit the bill?

@ubi, any suggestions for finding some 571's? i looked on the 'bay of course and at jules borel (i may not have been using the search function properly, but the 571's didn't show up on the part list for a 6263 case), but no luck...

thanks guys for all your help,

  11. so i was fortunate enough to pick up two tone's dw daytona, and i think the first thing this puppy needs (as ubi suggested) is a genuine t21 crystal; a quick search on ebay found several available, but this one is priced notably cheaper. am i missing something, or does this look like a pretty good price for one of these crystals?

would appreciate any thoughts / opinions....

  12. here's a quick tip on searching through threads: let's say you want to find out about your 7750 chronograph question.

first click on the search link up on the top right hand corner of the page, then type in the search by keywords field (without the ' markers -- i'm just using them to denote what you're inserting in the field) '7750 and chrono and running' -- note that by inserting the and between words, it is looking for each of the words individually, not in a string. if you just type '7750 chrono running,' you are only searching to find that particular phrase. so if you use my search string (7750 and chrono and running) and bang, you have seven pages of threads with those three words somewhere in the thread.

so you say to yourself, that's a lot of pages to look through -- there has to be a better way. well, there is a better way. you can limit what areas of the forum to search in by going down below to the "search where" box and click on any area of the forum. given your question is technical in nature, the technical info, how-to, movement reviews section seems like a good place to start. so click on that section, hit search (with the same keywords - 7750 and chrono and running) and poof, one page of relevant results appears.

you may already know all of the above, but if you didn't i figured it could be helpful.

  13. The second one is a new MX tan with logo buckle. The owner took off the logo buckle and put another one and the strap was brand new and a bargain. [...] Colour is not so orange-ish like the photos..

is that the strap on that was on paneristi a little while back (i think he replaced the buckle with a simona buckle)? i thought about going for it (definitely a really good deal), but i wasn't sure about the color....i'm glad to hear the color isn't as orange as it looks in the pics....

    great finds!! :victory:
