  1. Received superlume from a customer and I will try to lume it, if it is possible and I will convince the watch maker to use superlume for all production or at least for my production, heehee

angus, this is great news. if you really are using superlume, i think you will find that the demand for this watch will be overwhelming. :Jumpy:

    thanks for the update!!! :victory:

  2. this is a repost from the other credit card thread (which isn't getting any love these days -- silly to have two threads -- i seemed to have picked the wrong thread to post in)...

i've been meaning to ask in one of these threads -- how do yall feel about a bank wire as an option -- is it better or worse in terms of disclosing information than a credit card processor? apparently washington mutual here in the states has free international wire transfers....

anybody know the answer to this one? to be honest i don't have a clue....

  3. if the concentric subdials are definitely noticeable from a distance on the genuine and hardly noticeable :cc_detective: (i just looked again and could see them faintly) on the sample dial with relatively close-up pictures, it would seem like they need to be adjusted on the sample dial. is it possible to make the grooves of the concentric circles deeper? :g:

also, no commentary on the lume on this watch doesn't give me much hope for the possibility of superlume... :wounded1:

  4. @ v, sorry to hear about this. i think pugwash's suggestion re: trying to get people to post on the forum instead of PM'ing would be a great help to all of the more 'visible' members such as v, pugwash, etc. i'm sure your inbox is flooded by PM's; it must get tiresome going through them all (particularly w/ all of the newbies that don't know how to use the search function).

@ tt, the moment i read 'asshat' from cj's post, i was thinking (and hoping), i bet tt posts one of his (fantastic) asshat photos. keep up the good work -- let no asshat comment go unanswered.

  5. hi angus,

i hope you've had a good break over chinese new year!

there are only two things that i can see at first glance (and one of them may be an optical illusion):

    1) not sure, but it looks like the two squares above the 12:00 subdial are a little crooked. hard to tell for sure.

    2) the marker under the 6:00 subdial looks like a (vertical) rectangle; from the pictures of the gen it looks like it should be a square (ie. it is too tall).

now for the question i've been dying to ask: is there any chance we could get this watch with genuine tritec superlume?

given the unique lume of this watch (see picture below), i started a poll re: superlume here to gauge members' interests in the watch with and without superlume, and for nearly half of the voters in the poll (currently 46%), having superlume on this particular watch would make the difference between buying the watch and NOT buying the watch. i think this is pretty compelling. also, it would appear people would be willing to pay extra to have this watch with superlume, with the majority of folks willing to spend somewhere between $25-75 extra to have superlume.

what do you think? is it possible to have real superlume on this watch?

check out the lume on the genuine:

as always, thanks for letting the community participate in the replication of another amazing watch!

  6. whoooa....slow down there, guys....Eddie is not going anywhere....he needs a short break to sort some things out and he will be back ;)

this is great news. i would have missed EL's sense of humor. where else on the forum could you get a lifetime battery guarantee for your watches? or viagra blue AR coatings? or a 50 meter dash in the rain waterproof guarantee? no other dealer here provides those types of services sunshine.

  7. If this keeps up, prices will continue to rise and quality will continue to fall.

quality will continue to fall? maybe i'm crazy but in my mind the quality of our reps have only gotten better over the past year(s)... :g:

  8. It will be nice to see this with superlume ...... though I think what we say ...... counts little.

We all know that CHN rep makers are deaf to our wishes.

Really? How do you explain all of the improvements to the HBB and BCE that the members here have contributed to? Angus in particular (who is the connection to the factory creating the Costeau Diver in question) has involved the forums in creating some of the most accurate replicas to date, using members' feedback to help correct issues and/or mistakes in the prototype versions.

What do others think? Can we make a difference in the quality of replicas we see today?

  9. I don't care, mainly because even the good ones fad after a while

not sure if i'm interpreting your statement correctly, but real superlume doesn't "wear off" over time (meaning you won't ever need to re-apply the lume).

if you mean that the luminosity decreases after being in the dark for a period of time, while this is true, you can still tell a meaningful difference between superlume and rep lume (not sure if you've ever compared the two -- such as a panerai w/ superlume and one without). in the dark you WILL be able to see the lumed surfaces (even several hours later) with superlume, whereas you won't be able to see the lumed surfaces (eg. hands / markers) at all with rep lume.

  10. Given we're in the chinese new years waiting period  , and this model is due to be released in the months following chinese new year, I figured it might be a good time to start a discussion about the superlume on this particular model. Hopefully if enough people express their opinion that getting the superlume right on this watch is important to them (potentially important enough to influence the decision on whether or not to buy this watch), then Angus will work with us as he has in the past to make it happen. I've pasted a picture below of the watch and also the lume (thanks sailboat641) on a genuine aquatimer; it is (in my opinion) a pretty unique and important part of this line of watches.

What do yall think? How important is superlume to you on this watch?

  11. i definitely think at the very least that for new watches created / posted, the dealers should comply with the decided upon standards. i think an effort to comply with the most popular / top selling watches would also be appreciated by the members, regardless of when they were posted.

i also understand the logistical nightmare it would be to update every single watch on their sites -- it's just not a good use of their time.
