  1. I really like them both Tony! Beautiful watches man.
  2. They aren't too expensive. The P2 is just over $1K. But I think a lot of what makes the watch interesting is the dial and the construction of the dial. The movement itself is nice but I think it would turn off some people given it's a Japanese movement. That said some of my best time keepers are Orients and Seikos ... so adding something from citizen group rounds out the trifecta!
  3. Hello everyone! Thought I'd share a few photos I snapped this afternoon of the Sevenfriday P2. From what I know this is a pretty new company that makes 3 models. This is the DLC case with copper accents on the dial. The dial is multi-layered and a lot of fun to look at. This is greatly enhanced by the beautiful sapphire crystal with AR on the underside. The perlage on the exposed metal parts of the dial really sing in the sunlight, one of my favorite features. The movement is actually a miyota 21J automatic, and mine is about 3 seconds slow during 24 hours (8 hours of wear and then 16 hours on the winder). Overall I'm really pleased with the quality of the watch, the details are fantastic, and it's very comfortable to wear. It is a big one though at 47 mm, so be prepared for some major wrist presence. Thanks for looking!
  4. That looks gen to me, that date wheel was not available for reps and the reps came only with 7750 which had a sunken date. Not sure about the mechanical issues you're having, someone else hopefully chimes in! Good job cleaning up the strap, looks nice!
  5. Service - You can get it serviced but a lot of people just wait until a service is needed. You can check timekeeping yourself by setting the time according to timeanddate.com (or similar site) and then checking it the next day to see how much you've gained or lost. Less than +/-20s for most asian clone movements. Then you can wear the watch for a whole day and then let it die to check the power reserve. A fulls day wear will most likely completely wind your mainspring. Most asian clones will have a PR >30 hours after a full days of active wear. If you want to send it to a watchsmith then there are good ones in both US and Europe who are rep friendly. Depending on where you live you can look them up here and on other fora. I also have a local person who works on reps, so that's an option if you find someone in your town/city. The average price for servicing a 3 hand asian movement shouldn't be more than 100-150 USD. Speedy G is who I use and is closer to the 100 mark. Date changing - Since your watch is a 3 hand non chronograph movement you can change the date whenever you want. It's only with 7750 movements where you have to worry about this issue. Search the forums there's a lot on it (you can google as well and find a ton of info on changing date of 7750). Magnets - generally yes. If your watch comes in contact with a magnet and brushes up against it repeatedly or is in a strong magnetic field for a long time then parts of the watch can magnetize and throw off time keeping. Watch companies shield their watches and the rep makers claim they do, but i'd generally keep all my watches away from strong magnetic fields. Power reserve - As per the service section you will get something like 30-50 hours power reserve out of your asian movement. Straps - everyone will have his or her advice/favorites. Check out peterwatchacc (you can find him on timezone or wus) as well as thewatchboys.com ... Peter is a bit more expensive but many say they're better than TWBs offerings. Good luck with the watch, post some photos man!
  6. ^^^^^ Super 3717-02!! For a sunny day I took out the newly acquired 243
  7. Yep case diameter is 41...but still an understated watch
  8. Thanks for the thoughts docthor. I feel very much similar to you... Most of the time. Your course is quite rational and straight thinking. !
  9. That's exactly my situation. The 3714 is a watch i've loved since I started loving watches. I've owned the rep, poured money and time into it for several years but always my rep 3714 story ends in sorrow ... and after several years, it's time for the gen. I don't think I would have made this decision unless i'd have gotten into reps (which I will always collect as well!)
  10. I'm ok with "(Not my own picture...)" Thanks for letting me know!
  11. I wasn't a person who was going to buy a luxury gen. It's not that I can't afford one, I just didn't (maybe still don't?) see the value in the brand name non-complicated watches. I rather have 10 watches with three hands and a date window than 2. I have a mix of "low and mid range" gens (think seiko, orient, sevenfriday, steinhart) and several reps, but somehow this hobby has made me want to purchase my first "luxury grade" gen. Before I found reps I knew only a little about watches, but mostly that I liked how smooth the sweeping second hand is. I definitely understood automatic, manual wind, quartz, the stuff my non WIS friends know. However as i've matured in my WIS-dom ( ), armed with new knowledge and obsession, have owned more watches than I care to count. There is a growing part of me that can now justify spending several thousands of dollars for a genuine luxury brand watch which I've loved for several years. I actually know it's not worth that money in my head (from a purely practical and return point of view), but my heart wills me to go for it. Am I alone? Has anyone else gone through this? The replica hobby/community/industry has made me into a customer of genuine swiss luxury watches ... I give up!
  12. I think sevenfriday sells their watches around a grand or a bit more, but again this might be too low of a web presence for you to care.
  13. Try Ryan over at intime ... Last week he had a few swiss in stock. Might still!
  14. Thanks a lot! I really hope people don't mind the repost ... Not a super well known rep, but one that's close to my heart
  15. Hey guys, this is a repost from other forums. Since some may not frequent the other forums I thought some here may gain some use from these photos: Hello everyone! I just got this watch from Sead, and wanted to share some photos with you. Sead did a great job finding me a clean watch with perfect marker alignment and dial. First off I didn't think i'd love this watch as much as I do. I was kind of like i'll give it a shot, looks to be pretty accurate. What impresses me is the feel of quality when you've got it in your hands. The texture on the dial, the crispness of the dial numbers, the even lume application. Really more than I expected. Per my conversation with Sead, these are not Noob factory. This is another maker (which has made some less nice watches in the past). This is by far their best showing. These two shots are just an overview of the watch. Not too busy with nice date triangle accent, which gets me thinking about old school altimeters: This next is just a straight shot of the dial with indirect lighting. Gives you a good idea of the strength of the AR which is very strong with a light blue hue. It looks very very close to the gen which I handled this weekend (in anticipation of getting this watch): The font on the dial is nice and sharp: One of my favorite aspects of this watch is the dial texture. It's not pure black, it's textured. It's certainly not gray, but it somehow shimmers in the light. This is uncannily like the gen watch. Really impressed with this dial: The date cut out is extremely sharp with a nice two step ledge down to the date wheel overlay. Great attention to detail and very clean edges: Finally here's an obligatory wrist shot. I have a 7.5 inch wrist. This is taken a bit wide obviously, but it sits very nicely on my wrist. Not too big and not too small! One thing I do feel is very very weak on this watch is the strap. It's atrocious. Will get a rivet pilot style strap and see how it looks. Thanks for looking at these photos, really enjoying this watch!
  16. Some of you may know me from other forums, but i recently rediscovered RWG ... LOVE the functionality here. Nice lay out and easy to read. Good forum tools and nice web 2.0-y interface Thanks for a great place to waste tim....I mean hang out
  17. Tonight's a glass of Yamazaki 18 year bought two years ago in Shimamoto ... Only a few weeks until I can go back for more stock!
  18. Thank you very very much for this reply. Really appreciate it. It looks like the spring goes on the frontside of the movement!? How did that get in the back compartment with the rotor? It looks like the metal piece that has come loose is part of the "chronograph cam" 55.200 on the diagram you linked me on the disasembly animation.
  19. Yea I can make it fit in there, and push it down to make it tighter, but there's no good way to fasten it ... and the wire clip, i'm not sure what to do with.
  20. Hello everyone, Was hoping to get some advice regarding a UN maxi marine chrono i have. some background; i've had it for about a month. bought it from another member who hadn't worn it (still blue tap on the watch). i've used the chrono functions before this event about 40 or 50 times. Here is what happened in chronological order: 1. I started the chrono. 2. 27 minutes later (at the end of what i was timing) i stopped the chrono. 3. I hit the reset button and the seconds hand of the chrono reset to 12, but the minutes counter is stuck at 27 minutes. 4. simultaneously the running seconds hand is stuck. 5. Sometime later maybe a couple of minutes i noticed that the rotor (display back) also does not turn anymore. So I opened up the case back and found these two pieces loose and jamming up the rotor. The wirey thing was kind of free under the rotor it was the small metal plate with pins that was holding up the rotor. This first pic shows the two loose pieces: This second pic shows where i think the plate should go (two holes) This third one shows the piece in relation to those two holes.
  21. Hey Toad, great review thank you very much! I've heard a mixed bag about the movement reliability of the modified dg2813 that goes in these watches. Has yours held up since april? Did you ever end up getting the correct case back crazy dreams version?
  22. Just upgraded to supporter! I certainly do enjoy this place .
  23. Thanks Lanikai! I actually decided to take a toothpick to the pearl edge and see if i could clean it up. This is how it turned out. What do you think? BEFORE: AFTER toothpick attack:
  24. So I spoke with my dealer regarding the tab - and he can't source one. If any of you have one for sale, i'd be interested
  25. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll ask if he can source the tab. That would be perfect! Lucky that the BCEs come with a tabbed pearl i guess
