I've come across information that there may be another watchmaker who may be prepared to do this with the 7753 movement, he may also take advice on what kind of hands are required. Perhaps I can see if they'll take finepics' datewheel font and use that too, if finepics is ok with that? I'll make enquiries. By the way, this will have to have a minimum order, I am asking about this but correspondence is not always quick.

I'll post pictures tomorrow after work, should get to some sleep before a long day at work... it's almost 6am here If anyone has found this problem, please let me know.

I think there are a few reasons; i) The Asian 7750b1 can be used for this movement, minus chrono functions as the Arktos has, but would command a lower price than a fully functional chrono. ii) The 187 is a popular model wanted by many (as seen by sales by watchonpo at those ridiculously high prices - my opinion only). iii) Rep manufacturers seem reluctant to work with titanium as they have in the past. The Breitling Avenger Seawolf is out of production (Chrono Avenger to follow?), as is the IWC GST Chrono in titanium. The old version of the PAM192 in titanium is also out of production and is now brushed (or bead-blasted) stainless steel. Personally I would prefer more titanium reps as I am having an allergic reaction to the nickel in stainless steel during these hotter months in the summer.

I've had a look at the Omega Planet Ocean 4th Edition and it seems like the (purely cosmetic) Helium valve does not screw down fully. I've taken a pic that rocket posted in another thread (hope you don't mind) where you can see that there is a gap between the valve and the case. It also happens in the orange bezel version. I'll post pictures when I figure out where to upload them to. Here is rocket's picture. Hope this makes some sense as it's been bugging me.

Wish I could go out to the Gold Coast... or even Australia at some point. I'm all the way around the world in (say it quietly) sunny England. It's summer here, so it's winter there, though I'm sure your winters are probably still good. Hope it all goes well.

I almost went for it at one point, ignoring the screw down pusher at the top, the non-existent split seconds functionality, etc. The biggest thing that gets me, and I don't care if someone saw it and thought it was genuine or not, is the exact 2 same sub-dials on there. Also it is a manual wind "Venus"-copy movement, so the 6-o'clock subdial is not properly functional, more like a constant hour hand. If I had your same ability, I would probably use it as a permanent GMT hand too, but I don't It's still a great watch, and I would recommend it to friends. You are correct about very few being made, and very few would even know it exists, let alone if it is a rep or not (assuming the gold plating holds!). Very very nice watch, but I guess with all the chronos I have (RXW Milgraph, PAM188, 192, 196, 212, IWC GST Chrono, Zenith El Primero Rainbow, Breitling Chrono Avenger, possible PAM187 too), I prefer the simpler 231. Like you, I am a fan of GMT watches... where is that Arktos GMT you mentioned sometime ?

I know, but you as Hannibal from the A-Team with a pipe just doesnt create the right picture! -
No need to cream yourself

147 anyone? Seriously, I would love the Arktos GMT as well, and especially the 47mm 194 in titanium. The only 194 I have seen so far is in stainless steel and 44mm with the Arktos back and a 21 jewel Asian automatic movement!

Read the link posted earlier: "On 25. Febr. 1945 Ltnt. Keller took 16 men from the training center List to form the Group East. Their HQ was Ahlbeck on the isle of Usedom, from where they operated against the narrow Russian front by destroying bridges over the river Oder. The Italian were divers with heavy lead shoes, the Germans were swimmers with fins. For breathing they did not have air pressure bottles but devices with carbide to reproduce oxygen." So they were not part of killing political dissidents, gypsies, jews, non-whites, etc ?
-
I don't understand why they would need a diver's watch unless they were divers, in which case, I can't see how divers and underwater operations would have been involved in this?

I can just imagine Clive with his cigar while saying that -
I'm just figuring out how many are interested and listing them here, that way we can go to a dealer and say "X" amount of people are interested in getting one with an ETA 7753 movement. I'm also including finepics as he has said in the past that he is interested: 00 Chronus 01 thomasng 02 kruzer00 03 finepics 04 cwai02 05 Willith 06 4fun 07 laryea 08 olreon 09 cskent69 10 swemoose 11 M5Man 12 insane (dependent upon price) 14 Bignasty 15 gdaddy 16 Dario33 (dependent upon price) 17 jwrong 18 linkukbora 19 Nebakanezzar 20 speedy1 21 butterfly777 22 reprep 23 promotersf 24 DRVJA (under 700USD) 25 SportsPg 26 panerailord 27 RENOST 28 ehtolcad 29 sevomd 30 indenial 31 Chicken Manny 32 titoune11299 33 docblackrock (?) 34 watcher (?) 35 arska I count a potential 35 people interested so far, and this post has only been up today. Hopefully we can reach the magic 25+ number soon... I'd love to get it soon if it is truly available. edit: question mark removed from no.15 and 17 edit: for extra people added edit: no 13 removed edit: (10-Jan-07) added arska; I wonder how many will still be interested after waiting so long?

I remember it Great watch too but too many flaws for my tastes - mostly that 2 subdials are identical without numbering. I like the cleaner, simpler look of the 231

Message From My Jeweler's Rolex Sales Rep

It's the usual government scare-mongering. Which powerful government doesn't want more power? Especially over their own people (Patriot Act)? Watch the movie V For Vendetta, and observe in this story how the government releases biological weapons upon it's own people, blames terrorists to achieve their own ends, which also results in a strong Christian state with a virtual dictatorship, a true Big Brother government - the government itself terrorising and controlling their population through fear. Very much like George Orwell's 1984. Sometimes I wonder if he was prescient in writing that famous tale. Is this too far removed from reality ? Could this really happen in future? In our lifetimes? Remember, Power Corrupts, Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely . edit: valiantly vanquished errors of my vainfully vicarious verbose verbiage ad verbatim. -

STOP THE PRESSES! Message direct from the W(Sh)hite House: Not paying your TV licence funds terrorism. Avoiding tax funds terrorism. Paying your builder or plumber cash-in-hand funds terrorism. Please pay 100% tax and we will stop this terror! Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... -
Sadly, this is not something I can do "for now" It's 7753 or 7750... another 7-800 on a 7753 is far too much for me, I could have got a genuine Omega for the combined sum!
-
Hope so. The 7753 won't go into this Asian7750 version case, so I really hope so!

BS. 50 years ago, buying replicas would fund red commies, now the boogieman is a bearded terrorist. -
Or how about with PAM187 with ETA 7753 if we can get hold of it, I hope so!

A piece of advice, heed it well, don't buy Panerai! I first saw it and thought what is this ugly POS everyone is drooling over. I bought one. Guess what, I now have 10, with my eyes on a few more ... it'll kill your bank balance!
