  1. That's a fair point, the GST is possibly the most accurate of the 'pre-super rep generation' and that was avaialbe for a very reasonable price!

    If it's not cost push, it's definitley demand pull! People are prepared to pay the price, so the price increases. The IWC may have been cheaper as it wasn't a well know brand on the whole, and it didn't have the hype that these new watches are receiving. I believe that if they had released that now, it would be sold for around $300, because they know damn well that people will buy it at that price.

  2. Im not so sure. I can see your point that these reps are expensive but this is my view;

    My first rep was a Navitimer that cost $328. Compared to the new reps available it is no where near the same high quality. The new IWC is only $70 more expensive than the Navitimer was, but is a massive step in terms of accuracy. Ok QC may not have improved substantially, but the movement is better (as said by The Zigmeister with a service there is no reason why it won't last like an ETA), and the quality of finish is leaps and bounds ahead of what we had available just a year ago.

    I cant remember but I am pretty sure the ETA movement watches have always sat around $220 mark, and the new Ultimate PO is only another $10 more, and can be found for less from some dealers.

    Overall the prices may have risen, but I believe that what we get for our money is worth it. There are exceptions though, I think that some of the AP ROO's are ridiculously priced!

  3. Hey Teejay, nice purchase, and for that price it looks excellent! Like you say, there are a few flaws, but what a lovely watch, and being someone who doesn't mind accuracy I will leave this post on the note of; wear it well!

  4. Price is a consideration for me, but for a slightly different than Vnema's point. It is a good point, if you work within a certai salary and turn up wearing a watch that is worth half your years salary there will be some curious faces! However, on another point, if a watch is out of your price range, and you can afford the rep, then buy it. You will get a feel for how the watch looks and feels for a fraction fo the price, and wear it as a rep. (not saying that you would wish to fool anyone etc...) You will probably find people are amazed at the quality of it. Just don't go flashing it in the face of the board of directors, they may get a little jealous ;)

  5. You have PM Stephane.

    Deltahoe are you trying to bankrupt me, that is gorgeous :thumbsupsmileyanim: My rate of buying reps has been quite low, but I think this month is going to be a big spender! Is that the IWC from Eddie? I can imagine that the IWC on a strap would be a very nice dressy watch, even on the bracelet it is very classy!
