  1. Our reps are amazingly close. But we all have true favorites and then gens are the only option. Everything is simply... well... perfect. I have noticed that gens don't make very interesting subjects for reviews... I haven't managed to get myself inspired at all (to write much about them). Rep vs. gen comparisons are great of course.

I really like your Link Chrono as well. And Bond Seamaster... is there a WIS who doesn't like it? Great gen triplets man.

It's very true, the gens are much harder to review that the reps, from a writing point f view and like you say, a motivational point of view.

Thanks for the kind words BT, just the holy mackeral of grails to go for me now....the Portuguese 3714, but I think that's going to be in another lifetime as that's rather out of my price range!

PS I saw a blue SOSF on TZ-UK a few days ago but it had just been sold...hopefully another will crop up soon!

  2. Unfortunately I'm in strap acquisition mode as opposed to selling mode. Just a couple of questions. Is your dial matte or glossy? Is the sliderule ring silver or white? And finally, can you give me an exact measurement across the bezel? I've always felt that the rep feels slightly smaller than the gen, although its probably just an optical illusion of having my face so close at the AD :p

I will go and dig it out this evening, and get back to you on those points. If I do get over to Canada, Il let you know, we'll have to catch up for a beer and a good talk about Breitlings :)

b16, the gmt2c was everything I hoped it would be and is everything I could want in a watch. I feel like my journey to find the best one ended quickly. I still look at my watch and it gives me the same feeling I had the day I picked it up. It is the truely best looking watch to my eye that Ive ever seen. It seems it was truely my grail! I got very lucky.

I bought a Canon 50D but havn't really done much watch photograpyh with it as i stopped purchasing reps and have just stuck with what I've got. As a result my activity on this board has dropped unfortunately, but since you asked. I figured I'd take a quick shot:

    Nice to speak again bro!

I remember when you first got it, I knew you had found your grail and that it would be with you for a very long time. As far as Rolex go, they certainly hit a home run with this one! Thanks for the shot, and good chatting to you too A!

  3. Im interested b16, how does your collection stand today? What happened to the UN etc?

Hey A, long time no speak how are you!?

UN has gone, I sold it when I moved out of home to fund a few things. It's certainly on my list for later in life though! How's the GMT2c going?

Here's a quick shot of the current collection, although I am considering selling the 008 as it's quite big on my wrists, and I like to keep a small collection :)

  4. gorgeous, b16!...really sharp!...

where did you pick it up?...

    congrats and thanks for sharing...

    R-

    Thanks R,

I managed to source it fairly locally, so it was a short train trip away and I was playing with it on the train home....the only think I miss is the quick date set function of an A7750. I was playing about with the time on the way back, and before I realised that I had changed the date it was too late, I had to wind it forwards and backwards many times to get the date back to the right one haha

My favorite watch right there! Very sharp looking example b16, I'm sooo jealous. You know, aside from the date window and font, the Navi rep really isn't that bad. The huge 7753 window and horizontal single digit numbers just stand out so much, and is just such a glaring flaw on the rep. BTW, your post has just inspired me to go upstairs and change watches ;)

I agree, the rep really isn't all that bad, it's just the little things that are different. On the wrist, the date isn't that obvious unless it single digits, where they are massive and face downwards. Apart from that, the replica is definitely very good! I don't suppose you have a spare strap you would like to sell, I might need to source one pretty soon as it smells a bit smokey

  5. @b16a2 I suspect we'll be seeing that one a lot. :whistling:

I'm afraid you may be right with that one! However, what's on your wrist is the one I really long after! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Sweet. Looks like you're enjoying it. I love the navi. My only problem with buying a gen would be.... which one! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Very true, there are some nice varities of Navi's out there, but in my opinion, the black panda on leather is the most traditional of them, so it had to be that one :)

You'll notice that there is a tiny mark in the AR just near the 7 marker.....it may need a trip to you for some Breitling beating AR :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  6. Many a moon ago, I picked up my first replica when I joined this forum from Joshua, and it was the tri-compax 21k Navitimer. I noticed that another member shared my passion for the watch....yes we all know who that is, Mr Navitimer himself (Andreww) who wrote this great guide to the watch;

    Today I tried to set up a light tent using some envelopes, a lamp, one piece of paper, and got the N95 out for a few snapshots of one of my favourite watches ever made;

  7. Pffft, to Bahrain, lets get to Quatar for the first MotoGP race of the year!!! Now there is proper racing!! There is over taking and everything!! *gasp, shock, horror*

Almost like what F1 used to be before they turned it into a nancy boy club!!

Bikes everytime, Isle of Mann TT, real men doing MAN THINGS!!!

    Sixx :bones:

:bicycle: ah no, there's a biker in the house ;)

... begrudgingly, I am inclined to agree. I love watching the F1, but last season I also began to watch the Moto GP, and some of the racing that took place was actually unbelievable at times. I will certainly be watching the whole season this year, it makes for great viewing, even if like me you're not really that interested in bikes themselves :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  8. Damnit.. I meant the Breitling was a gen. :whistling:

I've never seen that until now. Is that the latest aquaracer from TAG? Which dealer did you go through?

    :)

Yes, it's the new Aquaracer 500m that tgas has released (last year I believe) For me, it further reinforces that Tag is moving in a really good direction with regards to it's designs. In the flesh this is a really nice watch. I have always fancied a SMP 2254, but they don't come up that often, but this Tag is a really good substitute! It captures similar characteristics of the SMP 2254.

I bought mine second hand from a guy on RepGeek, but it originally came from PreciousTime, and I almost bought one from him until this one came up for sale on the sales corner over at RG.

  9. That Aquaracer looks gen :whistling:

It is a replica, but it certainly is built like a gen. I'd compare this to the SOSF in terms of build quality and how it feels on the wrist...it really is a must have for rep collectors

    ie. It's a gen.

Indeed it is :) Good to see you posting again Pug!

  10. Very nice. Is the Navi the one with the newer movement with the "less sunken" datewheel?

I would like to hear your thoughts on the Aquaracer!!

This Navitimer is the newer one with the Breitling Calibre 23 movement ;)

Il be doing a review of the Aquaracer over the next week, but in short.....it's amazing! Tried the gen on, and genuinely cannot tell the difference in fit and finish....the bezel is slightly looser on the clicks, but that's something that applies to all reps. Apart from that, it's a very good replication.

Still looking for the poor photos....????

The Tag looks very nice,i dont look at them often but ive never seen that one before. :thumbsupsmileyanim: :thumbsupsmileyanim:

haha thank you :) This tag is a real looker. It has a really nice feel and look to it on the wrist, would thoroughly recommend one!

  11. That is a really nice pick up, B! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I really like it. It's like the chrono version of my oldest rep!

What is the model #? And what is a fair price to look for on the pre-owned market?

Thanks P4GTR, nice Tag you have there too!

The model number is the CT1110, but most searches will turn up the newer stick marker version.

As for price, the stick marker version, and blue 'Bourne' versions sell for anything between

  12. Just picked mine up from the post office....holy smokes Batman.

I tried the gen on a couple of weeks ago, and this is a great replication. The bracelet feels similar to a Rolex bracelet, and the replica is exactly the same.

If you love the Omega SMP 2254, then this is a really good substitute.

Expect pics to follow, and a review at some point soon too :)

  13. Wow, terrific write-up. Thanks for taking the time - not much previously published about this one

I know that's one thing that really puzzled me, as I know it has a great reputation for being a very accurate replica, however, I couldn't turn up much on it, so hopefully this review will provide a bit more info for anyone who is interested in this watch :)

Thanks, that was a couple of years ago I think! I found the pictures B)

It is one of the most accurate replicas around that's for sure! :D

It was an old post, but one of the best ones out there for this watch :)

Great write-up! :thumbsupsmileyanim: Thanks from another owner!

Thanks Hike, wear yours well, I think mines going to be on my wrist all this week!
