Corum is the better rep, no question about it. The currect F1 reps are from a second class rep factory, so i wouldn't go near one! Full of flaws and of questionable quality. I'm hoping one of the high-end rep makers are working on it and we'll see a much nicer replica sometime soon.

Same here! I've been waiting for a full ceramic King for ages and if this one has screw-in crown it could be made into an awesome summer watch! So far, only Connie got back to me, saying she can source it but was unable to provide me with real-life pics of the rep. I will try to get some more info and if it's convincing enough i'll pull the trigger.

Lume@12 looks reppish indeed... Date font looks ok to me though. I did notice the gen bezel markers have some bevel to them while this one seems to be without them, although it's hard to judge on such small pics. GEN: I contacted my dealer, hope he can verify the rep exists...

This looks too good to be true. I bet he's using gen pics. Besides, if such a good rep exists it won't be long before the rest of the dealers have it and you won't have to bet your money on some noob dealer.

I don't think he'll be able to tell but there's not need to take that chance! Mind one of the basic rules of the community: NEVER TAKE YOUR REP TO ANY AD!

Forgot one important mod for the front: get a thick crystal! The rep comes with a thin one and although the double AR is fine, thickness is not as per gen. Otherwise, yes, taka datewheel, lume and you're set. Rubber quality of V1 is just fine, the clasp needs some sanding around the edges, some like to reglue the rubber inserts of the chrono pusher buttons to insure they don't fall out, although this has never happened to me on a V1 before. Again, don't expect the watch to be the same as a 10k gen. But it's good. Very good.

The difference is a Gen will always be a gen and no matter how much time and money you spend on modding your best rep it will still get called out if you hand it over to someone who knows the brand. If you're not looking to fool people and just want to enjoy a beautiful watch, than V1 is definitely the best choice. The mods you listed will take the watch up a notch or two although it's very nice out of the box. Oh, there's a strange trend lately of installing V2 rotors on V1 watches, although the engraving on V2 rotors is completely off. V1 rotor with the ETA bearing mod done by Francisco will look MUCH closer to gen. You forgot to list the fine adjuster mod,which is a pretty big tell if you're looking to improve the back. Btw, you probably meant engraved bridge with H logo not "rotor" right? A rather big issue is the caseback, which is different in almost every model. Which V1 are you after? Next, you should swap the asian movement mainplate with a gen ETA counterpart to get the 25 JEWEL engraving like the gen. You would also want to change the black movement screws for silver ones... Another obvious tell. If you're stil not happy (and broke) you can change the whole movement for a gen ETA... maybe get real titanium H screws and replace those cheap SS bezel screws on the front. As you can see modding a hublot (as amazingly good as V1 reps are) is a never ending story. Decide how much you want to spend in advance and go from there.

Looks amazing, Deniz! Hope you get it soon and we see some more pics. I'll try to restrain myself from buying this until they fix the markers and give the lugs a proper all-round finish. Also, the DW seems to be unusuallly sunken on these V5s - definitely more so than V1!

That is wonderful to hear! I don't know why they even rushed out with this half-baked rep anyway?! Do they really think we will overlook obvious flaws just because it's the Holiday season?!

I think what makes them look deeper is the fact the later generation gens have AR on the cycloops creating that deepness effect. If factories fixed this flaw it would make a big difference IMO. Still, AP reps are among the best. Enjoy them for the beautiful timepieces that they are.

Chronopassion would be nice if they haven't messed up the finishing completely! Should be sand blasted not brushed. Now it looks like a Black Themes in Ti. Gen:

Unscrew the ones that hold the strap to the endlinks rather than those in the case. Afterwards you simply screw your new strap back on. Should be a straight fit.

Checked again and it seems they are both dark grey. On Josh's pics the TA dial looks black. Maybe it's just the light.. Gens:

Also, the Driver's edition has a grey dial whereas the TA dial is black. I really like the Driver's but once that orange stitch strap cracks you can't get a good replacement from AP Bands like you can for the TA.

Wonderful collection, Ian! And i agree - APs looks sooo much better with good double AR it's hard to understand why gens don't have it.
