Ahhh... I did look but rather confusingly Josh's old site is still up at the top. I know they change from time to time but as I saw that existing site still up..

Is it me or have both sites vanished? Anyone know what's up? Apologies if someone has already posted this topic. -Robsa

Lani, useful as ever! Thanks for the info! Sounds like a fair bit of work to build... Maybe a long term project for me, or maybe a gen would be simpler! It begs the question, would it be a popular rep for the factories to produce??? PS: It looks like someone is taking the trouble to build frankens: http://www.deskdivers.com/Site/Snowflake.html

Hi guys Does anyone know if the Tudor Snowflake rep are still about? I would love a blue one, but the only Tudors I can find are the new ones which are nasty (IMHO)! cheers Robsa

What tools needed to regulate some watches
robsa replied to hypeiv's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Sweeet. I really do need a decent caseback remover for my Rollie Reps. I currently use gaffa tape which is hardly ideal for ensuring a good seal... -
What tools needed to regulate some watches
robsa replied to hypeiv's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Sounds very nice, too. But will you post to the UK?! I learnt from bitter experience that a good set of scrwedrivers are an absolute must for any watch maintenance work. Regulating watches is usually pretty easy, I've done it a few times. -
Opinions please! It looks dodgy to me - just doesnt reek of quality in the photos, and the screwheads look a bit nasty. Also no photos of warranty papers and box and so on. http://tinyurl.com/ygsuoot If it is a rep, this man needs to be visited by the 'Patek Heavies' and have his b*lls nailed to a tree whilst still attached to his body!

If that is true.... ah, the irony! The cheeky beggars have nicked his pictures!

Was browsing the interweb and came across this site: http://www.hr-biz.cn/RLDS10043-LE-Black-Dial-Diam-MarkersBez-Running-Secs@-6.00_p_12992.html click on a picture... perfection clones!!!! Must be a rep of a rep site. Does that make the watches replica replicas I wonder?! EFA.

Ah well, that's nice and easy then.. all I have to do is buy 5 or so Rollie's to get a crown for my rep! Thanks for the info guys. Anyone happen to know a friendly rolex service agent, say in the Brighton area of the UK?!

I feared as much. And if I had a gen on my wrist? I assume the answer would be the same - take the watch to an AD as we dont sell parts because of the rep market...? MEH!

Loads of good advice here. However, as a fashion fanatic and hearing what Armin said I would suggest thinking about getting a classic cut of jean first - fashions come and fashion go, a classic striaght-leg fit will always be accepted. Personally, I have always found the traditional US companies make the best balance of high-quality denim/fit/value; Wrangler, Levi's and even Lee (I have a pair of $20 Lee jeans which fit me better and are far nicer than $500 Dior jeans which I have owned). I always like 501's, although button fly's do take a while to break in. If you want something 'trendier' CP company are nice, although a little pricey ($300ish). Soft, brilliantly styled and uniquely coloured, although don't expect them to last more than a year with any use (see what I said about US jeans?). If you are talking about looking smart though, jeans are only part of what you should be looking at. If you want to be a 'proper chap' there are certain items which you need in your wardrobe, and this includes trousers! Tailor-made is best if you can afford it, there are websites which offer tailor-made suits, shirts and even jeans - just google it. Consider materials such as houndstooth, prince of wales check, high quality cottons and maybe muslin if you live somewhere hot or want something cool for the summer. And Khakis are a must along with the jeans. You will also need to get some decent, well fitting shirts too - English makes such as Thomas Pink, Jermyn Shirts, the Savile Row Company and so on will last you a long long time but make sure you measure your collar. Nothing like an overlarge collar and poor fit on a shirt to look awful. I like tab collars myself, but then I like wearing ties. Of course, next you will need some jackets - I like a nice boater, but any blazer really, a nice Harris Tweed is always acceptable for bad weather if you can afford it... jumpers - Scottish Arans are timeless, comfy and very warm but you will also need plain cashmere or pure wool ones, a smart cardigan, especially if you can find one with suede panels on, turtlenecks are nice too... Then there are the accessories - its no use you dressed up to the nines and then pulling out a nylon and velcro wallet is it, Sir?! So you will need to budget about $200 for a nice wallet. I particularly like prada wallets myself, but any kid leather one will do. And then there are shoes... don't even get me started here! If you look at your wardobe and only see trainers.... then you are a very bad man! Not that trainers are bad per-se (I love trainers) - I like to wear a boxfresh pair with a suit sometimes - but every man needs a fine pair of brogues or chelsea boots. Loafers are a must too and I always like to have a desert boot. Remember you will need black and brown pairs too depending on whether you are wearing jeans or smart stuff. Then on to coats - a nice crombie or raincoat is a must. Aquascutum/Burberry do some lovely lightweight raincoats for about $700. Dont forget belts, cufflinks and a nice pen too (Montblanc, Cross)... oh, and don't forget the watch of course! Try searching google for 'essential men's wardrobe' I am sure you will find plenty about it. I absolutely guarantee to you that if you start taking care over what you wear and look like you will feel so much more confident in yourself. Women will also look at your differently. Finally, you will also become addicted to buying classy gear too! Mmm.... shoes... Good luck! Robsa

Hi guys I was wondering how people get gen parts for their reps e.g. crowns and such. I would like to maybe fit a gen crown to my rep GMT II Ceramic WHS to improve its look but I'm not really sure where to look. I assume walking into an AD and giving them some old flannel such as 'would you believe it, my brothers GMT II ceramic's crown drpped off so I thought I would buy him a new one" would not work and only lead to uncomfortable questions about why he isnt bringing it in... and looking on fleabay there aint exactl swarms of them floating about. So, is it easy to obtain one? thanks!!! -Robsa.

Hmn, yes, I bet Patek have a leather-bound one for paying customers... or maybe not. Maybe they dont need one! Just been drooling over the new 'vintage' aquatimer. Verrrry nice.

Hey guys Well, I requested a catalogue on the IWC site. Just got it from the Post Office, didnt cost me a penny and it is truly a work of art! Hard-backed and fantastic! I am now settled on the couch with a ginger wine in my hand, all the housework is done and I am looking forward to perusing it for an hour or so! Good old IWC. The Rolex catalogue is nice, as is the Omega one... but they can't hold a candle to this one! Anyone know of a better catalogue than this?! -Robsa Oops! Just noticed I left my address on there... don't look too hard OK!

I strongly suggest full Waffen-SS winter pea pattern uniform and equipment with a fully live MP34 SMG. Wait. No, sorry, what was I thinking?!

Hey all I have been working in Harrods recently and saw a great clock in there- it was maybe 6' tall and had watch winders inside all the way down each side. It was fantastic! I was going to look it up but forgot who made it. Anyone know? -R

How to get rid of heavy scratching in a bracelet
robsa replied to FxrAndy's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
What a great tutorial. This is my next job! Andy, you are a star Sir! -
It was 1989, and in the UK the endowment mortgage and selling personal pensions were big, big business. Cue me answering the phone one evening... "Good stuff, chap, yeah, how would you like it if I told you that the government would give you a brand new chart CD every WEEK if you just sign a small piece of paper?!" I pondered this for a moment. Being 21, and this being a mate who I trusted, I told him that it sounded unbelievable. "Well it's not! I will be round in a minute and sort it out for you. Good stuff." With a screeching of tyres, Mikes XR4x4 appeared in the drive of my parents house. Mike unfolds his 6'5" frame from the car and, adjusting his horn-rimmed Calvin Klein glasses gives me a winning smile. "Wow" I said, running an eye over the black Sierra and the exclusive red stickers on its A panels. "Is that a Turbo-Technics?" "Of course" says Mike, flicking out his wrist to shake my hand and revealing a shiny gold watch. (I later found out his car was in the garage just long enough to have the stickers put on the car). "Wow, A Rolex!" I said, eyeing the flashy gold watch on his wrist. "My brother has one, but his is only stainless steel. And hey! Yours ticks, my brothers doesn't." "Yeah, this is one of their ones that are usually worn by Presidents." Mike explained, uncosciously picking one of the many spots on his face. "Stick with me, Robsa, and you will be able to get your own one in a year from now.... now, have you got life assurance?" "Errr..." I saw that watch a year later when Mike had upgraded to an Esprit Turbo and was probably wearing a real one. He had sold it to a mutual friend (Along with life assurance and a

If you don't live at home, where do you live?! My good lady thinks it is a stupid hobby too. Pfft, you don't hear me complaining about her collection of xbox 360 games, do you? -robsa PS Love looking at the american metal. All I can say regarding swapping the 'vette for a Fezza is... are there any curves where you live?!
-
Err... nope, that's not it. Its the buckle you use to close the bracelet around your wrist which is scratched. You know, you fold the little piece over it with the Rolex crown on it to secure it and prevent it from popping open. The un-brushed centre piece is scratched as it protrudes slightly from the rest of the bracelet. If I get time I will put a picture on to show you what I mean. I was wondering whether jewellers rouge may take the scratches out? Robsa

Hi guys Well, due to desk diving the clasp of my new Rolex GMT master II (the ceramic bezel one with WHS) has become a little scratched. The centre of the strap is not brushed ali, it is shiny chrome. I was wondering whether anyone had any top trips to buff it up nicely again and haveit looking spanking new again? Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere; I did do a search but could not find an post which covered my needs exactly kind regards Robsa
