  1. Beautiful piece. And how do you guys all have the same kitchen countertop?!?
  2. definitely a lot of interest in this one as judged by the other 253 crystal waiting list. How does this AR coating compare to OEM and also to chieftang? I'll probably be down for one either way...
  3. I just watched this and thoroughly enjoyed it, but at times it seemed like an advertisement for Rolex. Seriously, these exotic collectors have unlimited wealth, and all they are looking for is more variants of daytonas? How about something with rare complications from the big three? Or better yet commissioning a unique original from an independent watchmaker? Or sheesh, if I was the guy living in the castle, I would be hunting for a Breuget worn by Napoleon or something. And then the dealer guy says something like "Richard Mille is the only maker who inspires me." Dude, get a Basel catalog. Still lots of fun and worth the watch just to see those crazy rare models.
  4. Looks like he added it just a few days ago. http://www.1-pc8838.com/0pn21401-214h-radiomir-rapp-chrono-ssle-a7750-p-9605.html Pretty exciting to see a rattrapante, even if it is faux. I can't see the flash video from this browser. Could this be up to the 288 standards?
  5. Looks awesome. Also, are the "shoes" pictured for sale? I could use a pair...
  6. anyone know where I could source hands (actually just minute hand) for a PAM 309/322?

  7. Damn I need bigger pipes. My 253 doesn't look nearly as cool on me.
  8. I don't think anybody does a proper phantom (if you look at the gen, it's basically black on black on black, super chic). However, I've been considering getting a gray or white-handed version and having someone like The Zigmeister paint/lume with the appropriate dark dark gray superluminova. I think that could be done.
  9. This is great stuff. Of course Biver is upset, because reps undermine all of the money and effort he is spending to create a "brand", which is itself a fake concept. Our fakes cost less than his fakes. I'm reading "Masters of Contemporary Watchmaking" right now (fantastic read!), and it's changed my whole perspective on watches in the $20k range (having tried on a $20k ice bang at AD). If I could afford it, I don't think I'd even go with a "historical" company like Patek or VC. There are supremely talented watchmakers today that can build you a beautiful piece of their own design, by hand, with hand tools from start to finish, making every or nearly every piece completely from scratch. Since they have no marketing or "brand" budget, the price of the watch is basically materials plus the watchmaker's time. And of course you get a one-of-a-kind piece. I'm in love with this piece right now which IMO just *kills* a comparable calatrava http://www.rwsmithwatches.com/static/static.php?lang=en&mode=series&page=1
  10. Jeez now I feel better. I voiced my concerns on RG during a deal and was pretty much lambasted. I waited over a month for a milgauss and a fiddy from him (for which I payed rush EMS), and he never responded to any of my emails or PMs along the way. I didn't even get a confirmation of initial payment. If somebody pulled that over here (went a month with no response to inquiries after payment sent) they would be banned right off.
  11. You can hear the rotor on swiss 7750 movements as well, but it shouldn't be that loud. If you've already managed to open the case, I'd say you are half way there. Greasing the rotor is probably the easiest mod you can do on a rep. I use thick silicone grease as it's less likely to wander where it doesn't belong. Could you damage something? Possibly, but that is how we learn. Tinkering is all part of the fun for me.
  12. Yes, good God that's quite an AD. I have to go out of country to see that kind of display.
  13. I really like the styling of this model, and I think the rep has captured the essence of that. As far as paneristi, I think owning this rep is a big F-U to their recent snobbery. I am all for that.
  14. Ok so this story has a happy ending (sort of). I had been working on this watch on my dining room table, and I knew those screws just had to be nearby, even though disappeared weeks ago. I started methodically working through the dining room carpet inch by inch with my hands. After about 30 minutes, I found one! Then I had hope, so I didn't mind spending the next 30-45 minutes until I found the next one. Problem solved
  15. Subject says it. I got a 38mm pasha from Josh for my sister-in-law, and the jewel (I think it's called a cabochon) fell out after a few months. Anybody know where I could source a suitable replacement? I have seen full gen crown assemblies go on the 'bay pretty infrequently, but I don't think that will be a drop-in fix. She's not picky at all and still wears it, but I feel bad as it was a birthday present.
  16. What's your 7750 configuration? The tricky part is if it is modded to move the counter locations (then has transfer gears overlapping the base DW). That requires the Francisco ultra-mod. Otherwise you can do what kbiz did (although I'm sure you already know this).
  17. I want this so hard that it hurts in a lot of strange body parts. But I am about $6k USD short. Here's to hoping a proper rep comes along.
  18. Ok, not to threadjack, but I've been trying to source a standard gasket for the plain cartel case and sapphire crystal. I think cousins has them, but I don't know the dimensions. Also they offer something like "I" and "L" shape, and I have no idea what's correct. Here's a perhaps very dumb idea for the JimmyFu problem: Try stacking two gaskets?
  19. Ok side question: How did the hour hand fall off, and the minute hand stay on??? A watchmaker can do maintenance/repairs, but they are not going to stock rep panerai hands (if the hour hand is broken) Davidson would probably repair/replace it for free (he did that for me once), but it is going to take a looonnng time and cost a fair bit to ship. Just my 2c.
  20. I'm looking for screws for what I believe is a getat fiddy case. I have another one from PWC, and those screws definitely don't fit (slightly too big diameter, or the threads are wrong). I ordered some screws from panatime (http://panatime.com/crguscforpaw.html), and they definitely don't fit. The head doesn't even make it into the CG (although I could grind down the diameter), but the threads don't match either. I saw this on the 'bay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=310194564979) (looks like radiomir?), but I'm tired of paying overpriced fees for something that very likely won't even fit. The same seller has screws advertised as "fits 44mm or 47mm style CGs". If you say so... I'm thinking of re-tapping my case to fit the larger screws from panatime. Has anyone had success with this? I know there isn't much material to work with. Maybe with enough loctite...
  21. zennioptical.com Cheap as dirt, lots of fashion choices. I'm not sure if they can meet your lens requirements, but I assume so as you just plug your prescription numbers in.
  22. Hey me nutz hang like grapefruit I just can't wear a PAM every day you know. At the time of the OP, I was a little inebriated and wondering if it was worth $10. I ended up buying another PAM from Josh instead. Don't tell the wife!
  23. I'm kind of smitten by this jelly watch on the bay: ebay by-it-now link Anybody guess as to how long one will last? Seller has good feedback at least...
