Ok, I'll be sending my parts over right after tearing my movement apart (just like the way the guy did it in Maxman's movmt servicing post)
Very cool, S. Let us know how it works.
Wow, that is pretty cosmic! Sorry I can't help you out, but I really like the old vintage watches like that. What do you suppose happened to the underside of the sides, general corrosion, or some type of inlay that has fallen out...?
Anyway, pretty cool thing to do for your dad. Good luck and thanks for sharing.
My father in law gave me this watch a while back, and I finally got up the nerve to take off the caseback and anti-magnetic cover and have a look at the movement. It is very interesting looking to me, and I was wondering if the experts here could tell me anything about the movement. Is it a "standard" Swiss movement, an in-house Breitling movmt...? Not knowing much about Breitling and movements, any info would be appreciated.
I like that one also. That or the hamilton would get my vote.
This is the one I got my wife, way back in the early 90's. It's basically still the same.

Being a nurse, she's going to want a solid quartz watch with a good visible dial and second hand, and on a bracelet. I got my wife a Swiss Army watch a few years back. She said it was perfect for the job. It was like this one, but with a white dial

Looks like I stand corrected. It's a Hamilton Khaki King.
