On my rep, the serial number is 0156/3000, so this one could be gen. On the other hand, it looks very similar to my rep, so why bother to buy a gen on this model?!
-
Did you find any? I was told someone was selling a cheap BCE bracelet for $20 on Repgeek, something you may want to look into. If you still can't find it, let me know. I do have one link that I'm saving for myself.

Very interesting read. Thank you!

I've been wearing this lately.

I recently got this Red12 strap from a guy in Spain. Man, it really transformed my MM20!

Not trying to be on the seller side, but I personally have no expectation on the reliability of the movement in the rep watches. Once a while you may get a lemon. That's just what we have to live with for paying less and buying overseas.
Your watch is not working maybe caused by something minor. This is no sense to panic If you read some of the movement reviews here on RWG, you will get a sense of dirty movement inside of every rep (except for the Daytona 7750 movement I guess). I always try to have all my movement serviced or replaced with genuine Swiss whenever possible. Yes, this will increase the price, but ultimately get you a reliable piece you are happy with. What makes me buy or not buy on a watch is really on how accurate and quality of the case, dial, crown and hands are and if the watch can be frankened (word?). Movement is secondary.

For bigger sized watches (like my MM20), I like to go with stitch-less straps. Your strap looks very nice, thanks for sharing!

Do you mean pull the crown all the way out (as if I'm setting the time), and then press down the button to remove the stem? Thanks Andy!
-
I know. I'm just hoping for any ways like picking a lock at the entry of the stem to reset the lever without taking the dial off...
Thanks for the input!

Hi experts,
I recently removed the crown and stem off my ETA 2824 movement. Now I can't put it back it right. The stem will go in but won't allow me to pull it out to set the time and date. I was told it's a common issue with the movement design. It can be fixed by removing the hands and dial and getting underneath of the dial to "reset" the mechanism that locks the stem. This is certainly a solution, but I would much rather to fix the problem (if there is any other way) without removing the hands and dials because this could increase the risk of damaging the hands and dial. Any thoughts/tips are much appreciated!

Thanks man! Here are two new pictures.

OK, folks! Here are two more watches!
Before
After (taken tonight under pretty poor lighting) - gen bezel and dial, gen dw, 18k gold plated bezel tabs, lume job, movement regulation!

Before
After - Dial dot fix, relume, date window cleaning, gen Swiss Hamilton 2824-2 movement install.
Now one more watch project pending... can't wait to show you. It won't be for a while though.

What do you guys think about these two? A dealer is selling them on RWI for $129 a piece. They have quartz chronograph movement. I just hope the crystal is sapphire, but it's probably not.
-
@Marinamm20, yours looks like the early version with flat crystal. It's pretty cool.
-
Thanks for pointing it out! I always thought those movement pictures were from a gen. Now I know
-
I know I'm spoiled.
-
On mine, I think it does. Maybe you have a better case than mine. The engravings can be improved with gen bezel.
-
Has anybody tried this before?
-
Yep. That's what I normally do.
-
Is the lug width 24mm or 22mm?
-
Thanks for the advise! I'm actually thinking about the same thing. I think it's fun taking my time collecting all the parts. It's not like we don't have another watch to wear
As for the bezel insert on that Omega chronograph, can we get it from our dealers without buying the whole watch?
Thanks again!
-
Guys,
Where did you source your cases?
Panther, the Omega 2254.50 is what brought me to RWG. Two years later, I still do have one. I understand the current version of "Swiss" Seamaster has wrong He escape valve location. Suppose I don't care as it's nearly impossible to find an old school case, will the gen dial fit into this case?
Thanks!

I bought mine on the bay used for about $1000

I feel like I'm more and more anal about watches as I stay here longer and longer... I don't know if it's a good thing or not. Sometimes ignorance is blessing. At least I can save a lot of $$ on watches.
Back to the topic. I think sometimes we will need to know where we are at and what price point we are talking about and adjust our behavior/expectations accordingly. As for doing business, it's best if both seller and buyer can come out winners.

The bezel screws are fake. They are not holding the bezel in place. To fix your issue, you will need to remove the bezel tabs and then remove the bezel. After that you can adjust the bezel ratchet spring (the height of the little tabs) to make your bezel centered.
