  1. Most leather straps from the the rep sites are not very good (suck) :o I would suggest that you find a watch that you like and get a nice aftermarket strap, Hirsch,Debeers, dewine :D Hadley Roma, ect. Maybe a nice croc strap. Back to your ?. I like the Audemars Piquet Ruben Baracello. It seems to have a very classy thick brown leather strap. I also like the Breitling Chronmat Evolution Chrono. This also seems to come with a very nice brown leather strap. Both of these watches have a very nice gen looking clasp. Good luck with your search :) Mike

  2. Hey thanks

I am, to be honest, skeptical of A7750's modified or not although I know some people on this group advocate getting them serviced. I am not sure if this view is based on actual experience or by word of mouth. Have you had this done on your watches before?

Its a shame about the spacing on a quartz - you can, in fact, get some with a sweeping second hand!!

Another alternatative perhaps could be to perhaps obtain a straight mechanical hours/minutes/seconds/date movement and therefore disable the chrono dials, the functionality of which is probably of secondary use on ths type of watch.

All a matter of taste, I guess

Very interesting. I heard Citizens has a quarts movement that mimics the sweep.(calibre f335) Im not suprised,a quicker/shorter tick will look very much like a sweep.I think Seiko has been making one sense the mid 90s. I think this is good news sense I like a good quarts movement. set it and for get it :D Good luck with your Santos. I would consider the rehaul on the movement If it were me :) Mike

  3. The only place I see one is at Trustytime. (Andrew) It looks good but has the cheep 21j movement. The only other thing I coud suggest is to contact one of the trusted dealers here and ask them if they can source a better (7750) version. If not having the full capabilities over your cronos dosent bother you the cheeper one might just do the tick. ;) Good luck :) Mike

  4. I really dont know about B&R. On the other hand the Hublot brand is doing very good in the market place.(high end) The idea of the fussion of materials is refreshing. Hublots sales are better now then they have ever been. I just picked up a HBB 301 rx Tuiga 1909, Stunning watch. When I first saw them several months ago I thought they were strange looking, now I really like them. Thanks for the poast :) Mike

  5. As far as the outside goes a rep is just as tough as a gen and you will never kill a good 21J, trust me Iv'e been trying for 12 mths. If it can stand up to spliting wood or useing an electric jack hammer or full bore rifle shooting you won't break it at work. Stay tuned for the full report on the toture test noob soon. Just have to get the beastie to Offshore for a teardown and pics.

    Col.

Im realy looking foward to your one year torture test. Im about to purchase a 2813 21j Pam Gmt. I hear they are a robust movement that can take a licking ;) we will see :) Mike

  6. I just got a Hublot Big Bang and the chrono subdial @6 does not reset to 0. It stays set at 3 on the dial even if I run them past 3 hours and try and reset.

What could be causing this and how do I fix it?

Here is a pic of how the watch looks with the subdial, hour marker, @6, you can see that it sits at that position no matter how long the chrono runs.

Im sorry, but is your Hublot in the "witness protection program"? Hence the disguise. ;) Just having a little fun. I just received my Hublot Big Bang.301.sb131 rx, Stunning watch, I realy like it very much. When Im not wearing it I keep the plastic mold protecter on it all the time. Im perrty sure that the gens come with this plastic cover, pertty cool. I wish you the best of luck with your watch  Mike

  7. I think I asked this a long time ago when I was looking for a PAM and didn't have much luck so I'll try again.

I have a 6.5" wrist and a 44mm is just too big in my opinion so I'd love to get a 40mm with a SS bracelet. Does anybody know where I can get one from a reputable vendor.

I found a PAM050 at a site called replica-time.com but I'm really not sure if they are very trustworthy even after searching for reviews.

Any help would be much appreciated!

There is also 40mm at Timeshops.net. I know a lot of members here at RWG have used them. His name is Mark and has been around for quite some time. Keep your eye on the $20 discount #. Im going to buy a Pam from him soon. Good luck :) Mike

  8. Easy there big fella...I don't think my response was a bit snotty. Did you catch the part where I said I should have explained that it was an IHS movement?

I was simply pointing out that the movement that both The Zigmeister and By-Tor had bad luck with was the CHS movement. There IS a difference.

You shook your finger at me and asked if I had ever heard that before. That's why I felt compelled to tell you that I read MUCH more than I post, so yes, I am aware of the issues with 2836 based GMT movements. But that wasn't even the question I asked. I asked if anyone knew of a person who services these movements.

I think I'm anything but a know it all. Look through all my posts over the last 3 years. See if you can find a single post where I misinformed anyone with knowledge I claimed to have, but didn't.

So no lectures please, I think my etiquette on these boards has been just fine.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

    Pm sent

  9. Sorry, I should have stated that this is the WHS (wrong hand stack) or IHS (incorrect hand stack) movement that is supposed to be much more reliable than the CHS version.

By-Tor says he has had good luck with the ETA version of this movement, but no experience with the clone version (but he says he's heard reports that it is less reliable than the ETA).

The GMT function actually works well on mine, it just seems kind of sticky and I was equating that to dryness. It doesn't seem that I can adjust it enough to get the time in the +2 to 5 second range I desire. I have the screw adjusted to full + and still get about - 3 seconds per day.

Just because I don't post 200+ times per month doesn't mean I don't read this these forums. ;) I am well aware of the issues and the fact that Zig doesn't work on them, but like I said, I got a great deal and was willing to take a chance. If I can't find a watchsmith to service it, I'll just deal with it running a little slow.

What I gave you was a sincere reply to your post, why the snotty response, you tell me. I never insinuated that you dont read these forums. How was I supossed to know when you purchased the watch? You said nothing about taking a chance Thats why I asked if you were aware of the problems before you purchased the watch. Where you get this 200 per month post thing is beyond me. I mean what does that have to do with anything? I had know Idea you knew so much. If I would have known about your extensive knowledge I would not have not responed. The thing I cant figure out elvis ;) If your so dam smart, why ask any questions? Considering that your so well aware of the issues and all. The next time someone responds to your post just say thanks, or maybe better yet say nothing at all. Just a thought.

  10. Sorry to here about your problem. Nice looking strap btw. I just resently returned a Pam 217. The watch would stop after 15-30 min. I would go to change the time and it would start running again. The dealer had no problem sending me a new watch. I told him the watch was not running properly the day I recieved it, good thing  I asked him if he knew what the problem was. He said "no not realy, that these things happen for whatever reason". Hopefuly someone will chime in with some helpful advice, if there is such a thing, good luck :) Mike

  11. Im not 100% sure but I think there is a three day public holliday there right now. This is what I have been lead to believe anyway. Give It a few days. Im sure he will get back with you soon. Andrew is real good about stuff like that, unless you bored him to death :p Mike

  12. My problem is I like them all. I need eight more arms! I don't care what you like; small, large, vintage, modern, gen or rep. They all have a spot in my watch box/shipping crate. :D Some woman want a huge walk-in closet full of clothes. I want a walk-in closet full of watches. With enough superlume I won't need special lighting!!! :bangin:

    +1 :D

  13. Just take it to the "REPS ARE US" on state Rd 14, right across from the UFO service station. :p Just having some fun. Since are hobby is not the most mainstream hobby around, It takes a little time to get situated. Im right now looking around for a watch repair person or watchsmith. Not everyone as Im sure your aware will work on a rep. I would suggest having a good look around your community. Pop into a few smaller watchshops. Try to stay out of the AD's. As a rule they are not rep friendly, for obvious reasons. Be patent and in time Im sure we both will find someone to work on are reps. I already have one promising prospect that Im checking on tomorrow. Having a look around here cant hurt. Although most are booked until the next Solar Eclipse ;) Good luck :D Mike
