  1. Yeah, that's why I am taking it slow right now, learning as much as possible before loading up on watches. I bought one from a RWG member and one from a dealer waiting for shipment. Wanted to get Watchedens B3G1free offer, but that would be too much too fast, and I didn't want to be stuck with a bad experience if things went sour. (but I hear very good things about WE, so my fears may be unjustified). But as you say, no matter how good a dealer is, rep buying is always a bit of a gamble, especially given the nature of our hobby. If these purchase are successfull, I'm going for a Josh Cartier. After that, who knows....
  2. anyone know what watch this one is? At first glance, I was thinking a Patek, but maybe not.
  3. Nice, may be my next watch buy. I like the UPO, too, but that's too close to my recently acquired Sub.
  4. Nice shot. I finally purchased my first dealer watch from watcheden a couple of hours ago. It was a Longines. Looks a lot like the PP 5120. I could not find a rep of the PP, so I "settled" for the Longines. Used the CNY $20 coupon and it came out to a paltry $88! Was going to go for the buy 3 get one free, but I figured I'd better take it slow for now, as I'm still a newbie at this. Picked up a sub from a fellow member over the weekend, too. Both should arrive about the same time, I hope. OOOOhhh I'm so excited... Next watch.. a Cartier Santos. If watcheden comes through, I'd definitely buy again from them.
  5. When I was a newbie poster like you, I made the mistake of asking about a dealer. The search function and time spent researching them on this site and other respected watch forums should give you your answer. That was the answer I got. Having said that. I am thinking about ordering a watch from them tonight, (but only an entry level watch, using their CNY coupon).
  6. But the 3919 rep is 40 mm diameter, wich is much bigger than the gen, at 35mm. I agree about the seconds a 6 is not quite accurate. The rep seconds hand seem a bit thicker and nubbier than the gen. The 3919 rep has narrower roman numerals, which coincidentally is quite close to the gen 5120/3520, but not the gen 3919 If there ever is a 5120/3520 rep, I'd get it. (I'd probably get called on it being a rep if anyone saw it and knows anything about PP's. The gen 5120/3520 is about $25K ) Longines has one that is quite close. I'm thinking of that one. Piaget has a elegant simple one which is a bit more accurate in the diameter department. I might pick that one up using Watcheden/Rolex2u's $20 coupon, making the Piaget a steal at $88!
  7. I could not find the PP 5120 rep anywhere. I tried all the dealers. If you know where I can find one, please let me know. The 3919 rep is the closest I could come up with, but that rep has a seconds dial at the 6:00 The Longines Altiplano comes the closest but that one (the hands) is way off from the gen.
  8. ummm never mind, I think I already figured it out.
  9. I am glad someone asked about this as I was going to myself. But I have a question to ask on top of this. What happens when your mechanical hand wind watch stops after the power reserve is finished. Presumably you have to reset the day and date and time on the watch as well???? Isn't this a pain for those occasional wearers of day / date watches??? I heard that some day date watches are not supposed to be set at certain times of the day for fear of damaging the date/day wheel. What happens if you are going out for the evening and want to wear that watch, but can't because you are in that danger time zone of resetting the watch day and date?
  10. Anyone know about the G series Gucci watch accuracy? The only thing I could find about this one is that the Roman numerals in the rep are not as close to the edge of the dial as in the rep. This one I could not tell:
  11. I have never seen a Calatrava rep (or gen) with the seconds dial at six inset like yours.
  12. I rarel, if ever, go swimming with my watches, and my latest everyday watch (gen.) only gets the odd splash and dunk in the water at home. I never wear a watch to go swimming, let alone diving unless its a $10 watch at the dollarama. Wouldn't risk it.
  13. +1 yeah, TT and PC may be working, but their suppliers, the shippers, the couriers, the airlines, they may not be at full capacity. it is all affected. I am going to wait till mid Feb. to order mine from TT. oooooh the waiting is sooooo hard.
  14. The 5127 rep comes in a quarts movement. Not classy enough for me though.
  15. Actually, you are right there. !!!! The 3919 rep has the Roman numerals too narrow for a gen 3919 match. The gen 5119 seems to "relicate" the 3919 rep. more acurately:p gen. 5119: rep. 3919 (more closely matches the gen 5119) except for case back, as mentioned already: The case diameter is 3mm off though..... Thanks for this info. Put the 3919 back on a shortlist for me.
  16. I've been looking high and low for this rep on all the trusted dealers collections and cannot find this one. I know that Calatravas have gotten a bad rap for reps, but this one should be easy to rep. I think. The closest I've seen is the 3919, but that has a separate dial at the 6 for the seconds. The Roman numerals are a bit too thin too. TT has it but I would only "settle" for it. take a look at the gen. 3520/5120 Very simple. If anyone knows a dealer who has this rep. let me know.
  17. Do you have to adjust the fold back on the horns each time you wear it, or is it a one time deal? I haven't purchased it yet, but shortlisted this one as a possible. The other two shortlisted are the PP Calatrava and a PP Gondolo. BTW, which one is more popular for Men. The YG, RG or the SS?
  18. This has a double deployant buckle with leather strap How do you adjust it to fit one's wrist. Anyone have this type of clasp? here is the image of the watch itself
  19. Is Ruby still doing custom DD and DJ's? I recall seeing a post by ruby saying that he can do any dd and dj you want custom made.
  20. I too am looking at a DD with Roman numerals. The dial can be cream or rhodium. I've been looking at the various dealers, but, are there any dealers who have better reps. than others? So far, the closest DD I found I like is from eurotimez.
  21. yes, it is a very esoteric hobby and/or collection. I know someone who is into watches and was looking at a rep. panerai. He has some old vintage watches that he has sold and bought on ebay. I posted a question about rep watches on a popular deals forum and some said that watches are such a poser thing and getting a rep watch is useless, get the real thing if you want to pose. I am thinking of getting a Rolex day-date, but that might be just too much bling for me right now, since gen. msrp is 24K, and I don't fit the clientele of a 24K watch.
  22. how about brokerage fees, which are different than customs fees? I know that UPS and Fedex charges huge amounts to ship to Canada, but I don't know about US. anyone have EMS ship to Canada?
  23. Perfect Clones (Josh) and Trustytime (Andrew) have pretty much exactly the same website layout and watch prices. Are they the same dealer? If not, then is one better than the other?
  24. I bought a replica Mont Blanc pen several years ago. It ended up being a cheap counterfeit knockoff instead of a replica. When I got it and started using it, you could tell right away. Can't remember where I picked it up though, but it was definitely at a store in Asia. So ymmv
