  1. yah, someone should. $299 is too much for that crappy beginner PO.
  2. aw mang, that's the shittiest fake if I've ever seen one.
  3. It all depends on what the seller put on the customs declaration form. Putting REPLICA WATCH on it probably will raise a couple of red flags. Normally, FASHION ACCESSORIES works, or "COSTUME JEWELERY" works.
  4. I've noticed several Omega's lately, and I've commented on their watches and they both said, "It's real" and then I proceed to show them mine without the benefit of any knowlege of them knowing it's real or a rep. I've shown my PO and my Pam to them. We had a couple of lines of conversation, but the topic of reps never came up. One colleague noticed my B&R Military and I just said, "oh, yah, thanks" and proceeded on with a work related conversation. that's all you need to do. If someone asks, then I'd say, "what do you think?" I won't be the first to fess up. I'd let them guess first. If they are correct, then I'd say " oh really?????" hmmm with a smile. If they think it's a gen, then I'd just smile in appreciation and let it be at that. Only one colleague at work, whom I really don't give a sh!t about and who is always a topper in the converstations, and always has stories I find hard to believe, I bullsh!t all the way to him and have lots of fun with it.
  5. most 03-92's are thicker than the gens, that is true. Also, the "LIMITED EDITION" appears on most reps, whereas the gen does not have that, except for the orange version. Most people choose either, it just depends on which diameter watch you want, either 42 or 46mm.
  6. The diameter of the seconds hand pin from Cousins might be too small. I had the same thing happen to me (based on similar experiences to you), and purchased yet another movement. Now, the seconds hand does not slip anymore. Try a test setting back on your original movement and see if it still fits tight. If it does, then it is your movement. If it is loose like your new movement, then it is your seconds hand.
  7. i have 6,25 inch wrists and i have a pam 111h at 44mm and a b&r 03-92 at 42mm. these are about the biggest my wrists can handle. Granted, my wrist is smaller than yours, but at 47+ mm your pushing it. I suggest you get a photocopy of the watch you want and reduce / enlarge the watch to the correct size and place it on your wrist to see how it looks. Worked for me when I decided on the b&r.
  8. 31mm is an odd case size for Rolex. I don't recall seeing any 31mm sizes on his site. Which ones were you refering to?????
  9. Mark at Timeshop is straight up. He has several AK's. Keep in mind that the gen AK is 34mm and most reps are 36 or 37 mm. THey all use the same case as the Explorer, dJ, DD, and oysters. Mark has two sizes of AK's, a 35mm and a 37 mm size. I'd go for the 35mm size, even though it is still not accurate, it is close enough.
  10. Well, the perfect Explorer would be the genuine item from an AD. But I do like ubiquitous's franken. Mmmmmmmmmmm!
  11. why do companies make generic drugs and why do we buy them instead of Tylenol, or Advil? Why do companies make no-name store brand food products instead of us buying Kraft brand cheddar cheese, or General Mills cereal? Although these examples are legit copies, and ours are not, I think it is pretty much the same idea. (at least to me). Looks good, tastes great, less filling.
  12. Nice Flyback. waaaaaah? It's a Panerai. Oh, my mistake.
  13. which one would you get? Some models look pretty much the same, like the stick markers and the large 3,6,9 dials. Many even have the same dial colours too. which is the more collected line? Airkings, to me seem to be the junior Rolexes, or the runner up line of rollies, the Toyotas of the Lexus, the 1 series of the BMW's..... Is this a wrong impression i have of Airkings?
  14. I got the same one like in your first option too, and to tell you the truth, it is a piece of [censored]. First off, the blue plastic bracelet pin remover broke on the first attempt. Then one of the pin removers snapped in half. The needle nose pliers were uneven and one of the jaws also snapped off. Also another of the different sized pin removers also cleanly snapped off. Truly a waste of money. invest in some half decent tools. Doesn't have to be expensive, just not the cheapest. oh yeah, the philips mini screw drivers are a piece of [censored] as well. the tiny screw drivers are not even precisely flat. one is tapered to one side.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised at some of the dealers on here and some of their replies. Some are pretty much the same. Anyways, Hont and now Chris offer pics before you buy. Hont is well regarded in the other forums and a true man of his word. Never bought from Chris, but might do so now.
  16. I too am in the same predicament as some posters. My first rep was the Sub and I don't feel any bit reserved in wearing it. I have since purchased a glacier blue Swiss ETA DD and I feel a bit embarrassed at wearing it. I mean, come on, it's a $40,000 watch in it's gen incarnation. I don't think anyone in my office can afford that, yet here I am, sporting it on my wrist, and I'm not even at the top of the totem pole. I sometimes hide it under my sleeve when it pops out in meetings. This was my "had to have" rep, and when i got it, it just didn't seem right. I can wear my Sub and let it all hang out for all its glory on my wrist for all I care. But the glacier blue DD?????? I think it is a bit much for me. I don't feel any bit embarrassed or reserved wearing my other reps, including my Omegas, Cartiers..... The only other Rollie I'd get would be an AirKing. I might end up selling the DD. It's just too much watch for me. And yes, I do have a Mercedes (and a Lexus), so that analogy flies out the window.
  17. maybe he was a drug dealer I pegged one guy in front of me in the cashier as one, based on the typical stereotypes of what one looks like around here. (Not going to get into that..) I even predicted the type and colour of his car he would drive to my wife in private. Sure enough I was bang on.
  18. yah, my in-laws have his/her daydates (40K for the gents version) and they look like ordinary folk. Do ordinary things. People who don't flaunt their wealth are the real wealthy ones (no , not the money wealth)
  19. Nothing is wrong with quartz. I have a Cartier and a Longines rep that are quartz. Neither has a seconds hand or an open caseback, so these watches can pull it off. I have two gens that are quartz too. I would not get a quartz rep if the gen is auto or manual wind though if there is a seconds hand.
  20. a watch on each wrist??? yeah, that is strange.
  21. hahh, hahh, I too used a meat cleaver but for me it was to use the spine of the cleaver to bash a PO pin back in.
  22. yah, it's the real deal. The incabloc shock protector is the right shape and there are three insert holes for the jewel. Good deal there.
  23. +1 by the time you upgrade everything, you'd be in Sead territory.
