  1. I would not suggest taking it to a watchsmith, but a jeweler who's main business is jewellery, not watches, and is not an AD of any kind. Most of those jewellers have watchmaking tools anyways, and if not sure, just ask first, then ask if he is okay with doing replica watches. I had my Narikaa PO resized by a jeweller who sold mainly rings and chains with about two display cases of Seikos and Bulovas.
  2. whoa, wait a sec. when did Reg start selling black rubber straps? I thought he was just getting a cattle call from all those who were interested for him to make an order from the supplier. EDIT>>> Nevermind. Just found it and ordered. Thanks for alterting me about it.
  3. I have a 4th gen PO and am wearing it now. I would not get the SSD, but I do have the Sub.
  4. I believe so. I have a Cartier Santos and it has an el cheapo strap/watch combination, reminding me of the watches you get at the dollar store. I purchased and aftermarket strap to be more like the ones shown on the Cartier website, and the watch looks a million times better. I also changed the strap on my Longines Grand Classique after I saw the gen version and tried it on at an AD.
  5. Here is my Bvlgari Diagono Titanium. Dial is quite accurate except for the datewheel black/white version. 38mm. Quite a few necessity mods done to the bracelet/strap.
  6. Rep or gen, I remove my watch when doing anything that could damage the watch. I learnt that lesson the hard way when I used to do construction work with my Citizen Perpetual Calender Eco Drive. The bracelet is all scuffed up with deep dings and the crystal is all scratched. Also the seconds hand has slipped and does not move the minute hand right at 12 anymore. I am currently in the process of replacing the crystal and polishing the bracelet and bezel. If any work I do which could compromise the watch, I take it off and put it in my pocket. If you have to wear a watch while doing such work, I'd get a real "beater", one you could "throw away" as a disposable watch, be it a rep or a $10 mall watch.
  7. depends on how much the gen dial is. The 4th gen 42mm dial is pretty much there except for the curly feet and the serifs on the 6,9, and 12. At this point, you're talking about the minutiae of details which at this point is getting to be obsessive.
  8. that's funny, because when i see a watch i recognize on someone, i automaticaly think rep. i have a colleague who has a SA and i want to call him out, but i know that is rude. i'm pretty sure it's a rep, but i can't be 100% sure. I know pretty much for a fact that my other two colleagues who have an explorer and an air king are both gens.
  9. boys watch or not, it still looks like a turdmaster as one poster said.
  10. either that or a couple of semi automatics or some handguns. lol (yeah, I'm from Vancouver too, and no, I wouldn't get one). I've seen one in person and it does look rather nice, though.
  11. Get both. Although I don't have the DSSD I do have the Sub. The Sub is my beater watch, wereas I baby the PO.
  12. Go to Trusty's site and type in the word "quartz" in the search field. You'll end up with over 600 watches to look at. I have two quartz reps, only because they have no seconds hands so the rep can pull it off. The only quartz I would mildly think of is the Omega Seamaster Pro. But there is an automatic version of this.
  13. This goes to show you, don't buy "gens" on the 'bay, no matter how good the price seems. It will end up being the most expensive rep you've bought.
  14. can you elaborate on the different logo issue?
  15. I know of a woman who has a gen ladies DJ and she is constantly bringing it in for servicing.
  16. the fluting on the bezel is off and all versions of the PO will have the incorrect fluting. The gen also has very bright orange numbers and a dull orange, fine tip on the seconds hand.
  17. I just received my MB fountain pen from Narikaa today. I don't have any issues with the white star. I have a gen. MB rollerball and the star size is the same, centred and shaped correctly. Some tells I can notice, but this is coming from a gen owner of two MB pens, a Rollerball and a former owner of a LeGrande pen.
  18. @op: I think that was my post you were referring too. anyways, my one and only would be the glacier blue DD with Roman numerals (ETA, of course)
  19. okay, but it just seems alot of turning of the screw to regulate it for only 40 seconds. Hope tomorrow works out to be more accurate
  20. 170 degrees??!!?!?!? That'll totally wack out your watch. At most it'll be a slight turn of the srew. So litttle that you can hardly see it move to regulate it.
  21. yeah, and don't delay. I got my 111H in the mail yesterday and already it's on my wrist today. Awesome eye candy for sure! (Had to do a tiny mod, but that's beside the point)
  22. ER was how I got involved in replicas and RWG. Someone i know who is a vintage gen collector showed me this site (ER) and I decided to do some googling on it. Most hits were of complaints. I posted a question on another discussion forum (not related to reps) about ER and was directed to RWG, hence my new found knowledge of quality rep dealers). ER should be avoided like the plague. I told my vintage gen collector friend about my findings, but somehow it hasn't fazed him yet. I haven't told him about RWG yet ,though. In the product descriptions, it is all the same stock wording for all their watches. You don't know anything about the movement, the crystal, the size, the strap, nothing....
  23. Is Ruby back in action? She had some communication and delivery problems the past few months.
  24. May be a silly question but I've read some of the tutorials and from what I gather, I really don't need to wind it except to get it started once the power reserve has all been used up. Is this correct? Can't I just lightly shake the watch left to right in my hand to get the movement to start working again. I've been doing this all the time whenever it stops, but I"ve read that I should / can also unscrew the crown and then start winding (in the other direction) to get it started. What is the difference in restarting the watch in either way? If winding is the right way to restart the watch, how much should I wind. I think from what I've read, just enough to get it going, then I should lightly shake the watch from left to right, etc.
