  1. Thanks. And thanks for the price reference. Looking for some less expensive interesting pieces to start collecting. It looked a little clean and fresh to be that old to my novice eye.
  2. Real or Memorex (rep?) http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-VINTAGE-ROLEX-...93%3A3|294%3A50
  3. Isn't the special Radiomir a clear caseback and DSN is solid? Thanks for pictures I am interested and thinking about pulling the trigger. Torn between 183 and 292 and 249 and 309 Food for thought
  4. Great post. My old DSN 229 is looking less and less perfect.... Does anyone else notice that the second hands on both the Ultimate and DSN are slightly off from the gen? It varies from picture to picture but both reps' second hand seeming slightly thicker? and longer? Thanks again for the side by side by side...
  5. Anyone rep the 309,21 or (not as big 292)? Thoughts on acquiring one of these? Thanks
  6. Hello: Venturing from my usual PAM topics to seek your collective help. I am looking to source a woman's gold jubilee bracelet ( all "gold") as a replacement for a gen on my mother in law's watch. Her band has been refurbed three times by rolex and they now decline to do it again. Alternatively does anyone know a jeweller/watchmaker in the Philly area that may be inclined to do such a job ( or others) Thanks BN
  7. To those of us who don't know- can these movements- alarm or non-alarm be used for a vintage project?
  8. Ok I know this is non-watch but it is Panerai related. Does anyone know where I can source a Officine Panerai Baseball hat? I saw this one on ebay- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...n%3D4%26ps%3D10 Thoughts Thanks S
  9. Words cannot describe... Beautiful. Simply beautiful Thanks for the pictures
  10. Brother can you spare 109K I love that watch. Thanks for telling me. Now I gotta go play the lottery. S
  11. I think this link ums up alot of the early watches in a clear, concise fashion: http://www.paneristi.com/reference/vintage.html From it: "Today
  12. My tracking says the watch is home waiting for me.....I have a fiddy and a 6152-1 MM rep coming from him now I am antsy to get home from Paris...... Will send pictures. Anyone pair a MP 26/26 band with a fiddy? THoughts? BN
  13. So what did you do to deserve the audit? You could say that these hobbies keep you off the street-or worse G'luck. she's on to you Scott
  14. I love the Egiptiano 2/ 56 redux.... The onlyprevious PAM to have the Otto Giorni brevettato.... Maybe a little much for daily but I won't worry about it in the shower... Is that a special edition? Lastly what is the difference between Luminor and Luminor 1950- Is that the shape of the case? Thanks for the pictures.. Scott
  15. There's the rub. So If one theoretically likes to run and needs a rough and tumble watch ( daily is gen Sub) but I love my PAM rep esp 240 with deployment. The manual wind with see through is aethetically more pleasing to me ( my taste) but the automatic is functonally better with date. Correct em if I am wrong, there is no manual wind date. Also the auto with date is heaver and more costly? How do y'all feel about winding? Any other intangibles? BTW here's the crux- I don't care if anyone else knows what it is. It's not for status for me, its more about reverse status- I know what it is and what it means. In this sense, I was thinking about a Rolex Daytona ( rep) as a trial balloon to buying a gen and I found rwg. And Panerai. So different and so much more of what I was looking for. Another question- someone sees your rep and says nice panerai- How do you respond? a)Thanks b)It's a rep c)Its my favorite watch ( noncommittal) BN
  16. I have it bad.... I fell in love the PAM watches and after two DSN reps (240 and 229 Firenze)- I was looking at the DSN ultimate Fiddy. However I am not completely happy with the available models. Then I fell in love with the vintage PAMs. After pricing Stephan's excellent work for a 6152 ( which I love love love) I thought at this price point, why not get a gen? Not a MM or Fiddy but a 111/104 level. Both are reasonably priced and potentially within my desired range without giving up a kidney. Yes I know the Reps are of models significantly more valuable than the near entry models I am considering, so its apples to oranges. Now my question: For your money what are the pros and cons of the 104 vs 111. I really love the sandwich dial and the beautiful movement but manual wind is, for me a drag. I like ( need?) the date but the simpler face is aesthetically more pleasing... The 111 is slightly less expensive and I have been leaning towards this model but not for price per se. I went to the AD with the economy where it is, they have both. And a small discount. Thoughts and suggestions? Anyone tire of the rewinding on the manual? Anyone with automatic regret not being able to see the movement? I am going nuts between the two. thoughts?
  17. I think it has to do with Brand awareness and the likelihood of seeing one and identifying the brand. They are sponsoring a large Science exhibit on Gallileo as well ( now here in Philly). Perhaps they are trying to link the watch with brand name to the non-informed.. 0.02
  18. How good versus others is it? Scott
  19. So I finally got a response for my Fiddy request. Here are teh pictures, you may recognize it. Your thoughts on this version versus others. I don;t mind modding a little, but a lot is out. Thoughts? Thanks Scott
  20. Thanks I will pass as it is very pricey Any suggestions for sourcing a high end rep deployment clasp?
