  1. Nice :)

Does look good in the black and, as you say, you don't get the dial printing issues!

Where did you get the strap from? It seems that you need to spend the watch price again to get a good one! lol

  2. I understand the worries re that situation, but if the feds see he's bought a watch for, say, $2k and then sold it on as genuine at x times the price, any fed with a brain is going to question the fact he paid so little for it in the first place but is saying it was sold to him as gen, surely??

    Well you'd hope... lol

Although whether they would then got nosey round your affairs would be difficult to judge until it happened, but I wouldn't like to bet against it!

  3. I'm not going to not buy a watch just because someone in a suit who writes for a paper and who deems themself a 'fashion guru' says so LoL

If a watch looks good it looks good, period.

I don't think we'll ever go back to the tiny sub-36mm days, but I imagine some of the more stupidly sized (IMHO) fashion watches (grahams, hublows etc) will fall by the wayside as they're finally recognised for being the fashion watches they are, rather than being a quality piece of classic design that will last.

    All IMO, of course ;):p

  4. If you're looking for something that can resist a battering and a dunking then consider a G-Shock - used by a lot of guys in the forces, as I understand it, as they're so hard to kill! They're digital though so might not give the at-a-glance clarity you're looking for.

A Bell & Ross BR01 is super-easy to read at a glance, and a good rep will come with a rubber strap (easy to clean) and could be made waterproof pretty easily I reckon. Get one in steel and it will stand up to scratches pretty well :) You can also get a steel bracelet for them now, I think.

A Panerai (PAM) or a PAM homage of some kind would also be a good choice - again, a clear and easy to read at-a-glance dial, steel body, easily waterproofed and bombproof if you get a handwind 6497 movement. Also, it doesn't have a crystal with any Anti-Reflective (AR) coating on it so you wouldn't need to worry about scratching it. Check out http://www.jacksontse.com/ for a massive selection.

I was thinking something like these might be good?

    http://www.jacksontse.com/mm032.html (flat cystal) / http://www.jacksontse.com/mm018.html (domed plexi)

or this, although this one is automatic: http://www.jacksontse.com/mm198.html

You also have getat who can do custom builds to what you want: http://www.siswatch727.com/index.do

I'm not sure he has the steel bracelets, you'd have to ask, but if not you can order one from Jackson: http://www.jacksontse.com/mm199.html or http://www.jacksontse.com/mm154.html

Add waterproofing at a good watchsmith for c.£30 and it's pretty cheap!

  5. Just had this brought my attention - thought some of those members slightly more flush than I might be interested :D lol

Think they've got sales across a lot of the other manufacturers as well!

(remove the x's and replace with t's ;))
