Does anyone know if the BP in PVD and the one with a blue face (both available at Josh) was actually made by IWC - ie are they fantasy watches?
-
I could supply a genuine ETA 7750 for slightly less plus postage. Brand new. Richard

I agree the glue can be risky - the clogging up of the cannion did happen for me the first time! and required a lot of picking out. Using a pin vice will work if you have a tube on the hand but what (as was in my case) if there is no tube - ie it was a second hand with just a hole. What alternatives are there for that to tighten up. Thanks
-
I usually use fast 1 minute epoxy but apply with a pin If the hole is massively large, I have before glued a ccoupl eo layers of aluminum foil to the back and reapplied the whole with a drill or pinl

Cartier Santos XXL 7753 Replacement Movement
RIBOOWW2 replied to RIBOOWW2's topic in General Discussion
Hey thanks I am, to be honest, skeptical of A7750's modified or not although I know some people on this group advocate getting them serviced. I am not sure if this view is based on actual experience or by word of mouth. Have you had this done on your watches before? Its a shame about the spacing on a quartz - you can, in fact, get some with a sweeping second hand!! Another alternatative perhaps could be to perhaps obtain a straight mechanical hours/minutes/seconds/date movement and therefore disable the chrono dials, the functionality of which is probably of secondary use on ths type of watch. All a matter of taste, I guess -
Cartier Santos XXL 7753 Replacement Movement
RIBOOWW2 replied to RIBOOWW2's topic in General Discussion
Woops - that should read dials at 3,6,9 - not 12 -
My Cartier Santos XXL has died on me. I think it has an Asian 7750 modified to a 7753 tricompax (dials @ 3,6,12; date at 4). Thought of getting a genuine replacement ETA 7753 but pretty expensive and quite hard to come by. So I thought of getting a quartz replacement. I can't seem to find any with the chrono layout as the Santos. Closest is the Miyota OS20 - same layout and same ligne - but distance apart of the dials not the same (on mine all three chrono dials are approx 7.5mm from the centre). Any guidance would be appreciated Thanks

Please stop me from ordering this Ugly POS!
RIBOOWW2 replied to mjmurphy926's topic in Other Brands Area
I must admit, I have considered buying it as I have an historic interest in World War 2. Its almost grotesqeness has prevented me from doing so. Overlord was the code word for D-day 6 June 1944, when the Allies landed on the beaches in Normandy, France to start the Western front and the eventual capitulation of the Nazis. My Dad was in the RAF in bomber command flying Lancasters at the time. I would probably get it if it wasn't for that ridiculous appendage on one side. Its a talking point.................. -
Did anyone on this forum ever get one. I do like the blue one Richard

Barrichello sec @ 12 is on Josh's site!

Completely agree I bought a brand new seconds at 9 from Time4direct - very pleased with it. Looks identical. $299 Seems hard to justify the extra $300. For the rare person that notices the seconds in the right place, are you gong to pass it off as a genuine, anyway? -
of late, lived in Lostock (close to Reebock) so Bolton Wanderers for me but prior it was MU

Does anyone know who would service / repair an Asian 7750 movement in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)? Thanks Richard
-
Price has gone up - 135 CDN. Its the Shanghai movement 3z something. I am nervous of all A7750 - multiple bad experiences, I am afraid. Do you think the ones purchased from a local supplier will be more reliable and have longer life than the ones they put into the replicas in China? This one only lasted 4 month infrequent wear then the power reserve went to zero (well almost) I contacted The Zigmeister before but not sure if he wants the servicing business -received no response
-
Thanks I think those links point to movements which only have a date and not a day & date. Actually, I am looking to put in place of an A7750 thats dead (chrono will then become faux). So footprint similar, I guess and same hours, second and minute hand Richard

I wanted to get hold of an Asian 2836 clone or another Chinese high beat day and date at 3:00. Can someone advise me of model names Thanks Richard

I am from Manchester but no longer live there - in Toronto - still raining?

I want to try it on an A7750 so I wonder if there are extra challenges with the small chrono hands Bit worried about your leather sorry rubber gloves - does that give a better experience -

Congrats What tools did you use to make the change? Richard -
Ah Thanks I didn't realize top and bottom were joined. You are right an allen key on the back wouldn't work too shallow but on the top the sockets are deep . So I guess turn the allen key on the top whilst gripping the shallow nuts on the back? Doed this sound right
-
Has anyone got an idea of what to use to remove the strange screws of this AP Barrichello case back Thanks Richard
-
Milgauss - about 40mm. They say the new 2008 Day date is 41mm but I ve not seen the replica of this. On Sea Dweller the face is the same size as say GMT II but big surround. A big watch - very heavy. Ugly, but I wouldn't be without mine!! I love it

Andrew and Josh are very very very very closely allied or else they are one and he same. Same inventory, same prices , line for line. Josh is reliable for delivery and service. Not experienced Andrew yet. Prices not the keenest though but for many worth it to get the good comms and service Rich
