  1. Ahhh, no no...I was actually already in the midst of conducting a transaction with him. I fully understand (as many threads here will attest) that pinging him too much is rep enthusiast suicide, but I had already been using the RWG PM feature as a primary form of contact. His profile encourages use of his email, but I looked high and low and couldnt find it. Very curious indeed!!! -Tony
  2. The Zigmeister's PM appears officially shut down. Ive searched high and low for his email addy...anyone in the know? Thanks Tony
  3. Stormtrooper, I was struck by your insight...why do you say that the quality and availability of reps now are as good as it will ever be? Are you aware of something coming up in the midterm that will seriously impact this hobby? It seems as though there are dealers doing great business so I doubt they will fade away on their own. I agree that there is no point in anyone getting too agitated about making a selection...just jump in!!! Thanks Tony
  4. Hmm I wonder why. While PAMs are beautiful, they are minimally designed watches. (Well the faces, maybe not so much the movement). Any particular reason why? My kingdom for a perfect pam!!! r/anthony
  5. JKerouac, thanks! Have you used Watchmark in the past? The author apparently likes them. I checked out the site today, 'timeshops.com' and I noticed several other items, including wallets and purses for sale. Dunno made me feel a bit odd...I think the collectors should be purists, no?
  6. Agreed great review! Which of the rep makers in your collective opinions are making the finest IWCs? Ive been looking for an "ultimate" model but have yet to see one. Thanks! Tony
  7. Yes, I noticed too that there's a shortlist of reps that are outstanding quality. Yes Ive heard some odd things abt DSN, but his work appears to be the very best. Another that was referred to me is Rocketeer. From what I can tell, when David starts getting MIA his quality isnt as great but when he is reachable he apparently pays great attention to his work. And even if he misses the mark he stands by his work. Thats priceless!!! Many of the collectors seems to offer "ultimate" versions of their watches which is nice. From there guys like The Zigmeister can take care of those nagging issues. I personally love PAMs and I think its worth digging deeper to get a good one! I bought my first rep, a PAM005 from Andrew and while I see now what the flaws are its still a very very nice watch! Tony
  8. Just out of curiosity, why did you eliminate Davidsen from your list? From what I can tell he does the very finest PAM reps!!!
  9. Thanks for all of the info! Even as a newcomer, Im starting to realize that only a small number of watches qualify for Super Rep consideration. As rabid as RWG members are about Panerais (and I include myself among them), its surprising to see that not one was posted (not even from Davidsen!) Im thinking that part of the issue is that Pam enthusiasts are so detail oriented that even the smallest flaws will cause a rep to be pilloried. Ideas???
  10. Well Ive never purchased a PAM from Angus (Puretime) but I will tell you lately he has been MIA. I did try to purchase a Chopard from him and never got response from him directly in email. Customer service has to count for something, right? Ok so for what its worth, I bought a $130 PAM111 from Andrew (Trusty) and I love the watch itself. The straps were a different matter...they looked rather stiff and plastic and had a very noticeable pungent odor. I swapped out the straps and now I have what I think is a wonderful watch for the money. Maybe someone can point out what Im missing with Andrew's less expensive version....
  11. I just bought a PAM 111 from Andrew. Not a lot of money ($130 USD) and from what I can tell pretty good. Is Davidsen's lume worth the added cost? Call me nuts but I think Andrew offered a pretty good watch all around!!! Oops with the exception of the plastic awful smelling straps. Andrew explained it away as typical "factory smell" that would come off with a little soap and water. Not even. I promptly replaced the strap with something much nicer. ($50). Oh I should mention that its the sausage dial. There seems to be considerably more attention paid to the sandwich variety...
  12. Interesting thread. But the question remains, if Hublot watches are relatively easy to rep, then why are the prices so high for a good one??? Pricing appears to be in the $700-$800 range. Is it the casing?
