  1. Pretty straight forward repair so long as you have the correct tools. Might want to take the opportunity to give it a try and start learning some basic repair skills. Depends of course if you are willing to take the risk. Steps to do so:

    1) Remove case back

    2) Remove oscillating weight

    3) Remove stem by depressing stem release with 1.2mm driver and pulling stem out

    4) Remove case clamp screws and clamps

    5) Invert watch so movement w/ dial drop out

    6) Carefully set hand back onto pinion and press with hand presser (can use other item such as flattened tooth pick for center hand if you don't have the tool)

Follow reverse for re-assembly. Alternatively find a watchsmith near to you to do it. Won't cost much or take long to reset the hand.

  2. I do get these kinds of questions often since everyone I work with and around knows of my watch addiction and while my initial internal response to the Fossils and Nixons and whatever else they have is similar to some of those posted above I try to step down off the horological horse a bit and put myself in their shoes.

Along the lines of jpz comment, a "nice" watch is a subjective measure and is relative to the perspective of the observer. What is not a nice watch to me may very well be to someone else. Similarly, how nice a watch is really is dependent on what it is compared to. For example; a $200 Fossil is a much nicer watch then say a $40 Walmart no-name or a $10 flea market digital. So for me the fact that someone likes what they have and are proud to show it to me in acknowldgement of my interests I think is very nice so I return comments in kind. Not everyone is a WIS so why would I expect them to be?

  3. You might want to confirm pinion heights and also stem center to dial face for the two movments. I believe the Miyota shares the same dimensions as the DG series movements and they are not the same as the 2824, especially in regards to the stem position. The 2836 is the better swap for the 21j movements but hands will be an issue.

Might be better off to sell what you have and purchase what you want.
