  1. Had the same situation when my 3717 came back from a watchsmith. I just took it to another local watchsmith. It should be an easy fix and I got it back in an hour.
  2. In Hong Kong it's always Rolex which is the most popular, and still is. However in recent years Panerai becomes more and more popular especially in the financial services industry. Occasionally I see some real estate agents and medical doctors wearing them. Mostly recently I see Panerai being worn by young people wearing T-shirts and jeans... Perhaps that's the marketing effect as there are more and more ad appeared in both popular & luxury magazines. Furthermore I notice that a lot of people here buying luxury watches, including Panerai, are for trading for a profit. Overheard in 2nd hand watch shops most people are asking about how much this Panerai can inflat. As such, we shouldn't ignore investment value as one of the factors in its popularity here. Again, this is a result of good marketing tactic.
  3. The lens is NULUX 1.74-U VP aspherical lens. I'm not sure about the coating because it wasn't specified in my order. However, they told me that it's of Japanese origin and very scratch resistant. Believe it must be either one of those shown in HOYA local website: http://www.hoya.com.hk/coating. Companies like to use different names for different markets even for the same product, so I really don't know whether it's SHV EX3.
  4. I've bought a new glasses two months ago with the thinnest HOYA lenses available in the market. I've used HOYA for a few years and it's much more scratch resistant as compared to other brands including Zeiss and Rodenstock that I used before (perhaps those have improved in recent years I'm not sure). I believe that HOYA is the leader of the market and it's good to learn that you will evaluate its AR. We're more demanding now :-)
  5. Think it's still all about demand and supply. Fishes don't take all kind of baits (presumably only when it 'thinks' it's really delicious); some fishes can take away the baits, or part of it, without being hooked; some fishes can be caught even without baits. Being said that, the main difference is we should know that there is a hook behind the baits while the fishes may not.
  6. Totally agree. Before I'm into this hobby I thought reps are just cheap watches which couldn't last long. Never think that I can mod them step by step and make them sometimes can be even better than the gen. The RWG have all the experts and contains a wealth of information so that we can work towards such perfection.
  7. The 3717 is very nice, especially the crystal!!!
  8. Thanks for the explanation, JKay. Understand the ETA 7750 movement consists of delicate parts and should always be handled with care. So basically the auto-wind train is affected and it shouldn't be a problem for 6497 etc. Then the same issue should apply to other auto-wind movements such as 2824, 2836, 2892 etc. if we want to follow the same line of thought? Anyway, perhaps different movements have different construction and the baseline is to handle them with care. Thanks again.
  9. Eager to hear update, if any
  10. Mind to elaborate? What's the problem of winding the swiss 7750?
  11. Really appreciated! Thanks for bringing the forum up again.
  12. Concepta, well, even though I can't own this green IWC, I still want to see its pic before you send it to its future owner. I just never saw it in real life.
  13. The green one is very special! Since this is gen, it must be well worth to collect this rare item more than the others. Just hope I've the fund.
  14. Yes, the arrest appears just a routine gesture to let the First World shut up. Scapegoats are caught, if the numbers are not ten times of the actual, but the influential guys still make big money.
  15. Nice looking & beautiful...
  16. 1 brown & 1 black for me too, thanks.
  17. Really bad news but understandable :-(
  18. I would be interested in 2.
  19. Very nice, simply amazing... believe it has gen hands and movement. The AR is good too!
  20. kbiz, that's true. That's why i hope this project can proceed too. Don't think we can get such gen like domed sapphire anywhere else.
  21. really delicate process. nice explanation. Thanks.
  22. Believe the eta 7753 version is old stock. Currently version is with A7753, but the dial wouldn't fit an eta 7753. Previously, i mean at least a year ago, Daylight PAM have both A7750 and eta 7753 versions.
  23. I've one look very similar & it's from DSN, especially the crown and CG. But your crystal appears clearer than mine.
  24. Hope this project can go ahead. I've ordered 2 crystals for manual pam & they're really good.
  25. Same experience here. Movement serviced by a local watchsmith, but there were problems here & there obviously. Sent it to The Zigmeister & he found problems like broken spring, over-greased etc. From that time on I decided I'd never send to any watchsmith I don't know.
