  1. Nice! Looking forward to seeing the end product. Good luck acquiring the remaining parts!
  2. Thanks Pete! I have to admit, the AR is annoying the hell out of me. I'm thinking of either stripping it completely or sending it to the guys from 2Geek to have it double AR coated. I know it will be wrong on various levels, but I do like their coating.
  3. Thanks for the heads up! I just checked it and it seems to be part of the spring bar that just protrudes out like that.
  4. I received my crystal back from the guys from 2Geek for a double AR coating. I figured I
  5. I finally had some time to take some pictures of the latest addition to my collection. I bought an Ultimate 088 from PeteM right before Christmas. I wore it a few days before I decided to send it off for reluming. I contacted member Hijack on RG as I
  6. Pete, the strap you posted looks like the OEM fiddy cashmere strap. Here is a link where you can buy it.
  7. Seeing as Jackson has chrono hommages on his website, I would assume he has those screws as well.
  8. You should try Jackson Tse. I recently bought half a dozen screws from him recently for $1 per piece (incl. registered airmail).
  9. I've ordered from Hont before and he sent my watch via DHL to the Netherlands. Passed customs without a problem and actually fastest delivery I've ever had (shipped on Sat. on my wrist by Monday evening). Best of luck and hope it goes smoothly.
  10. It looks absolutely stunning, great work chefcook! The watch is going to look even better on a TWB or OEM brown gator. How did you learn how to service the movement yourself? Damn, now I need to stop wondering if my own 088 is ever going to reach hijack.
  11. I had the same problem recently with the AR on my 111H. I tried everything from acetone to Cape Cod cloth to silver/brass polish and scrub sponge, but the result was hairline scratches in the AR. It seemed that some AR are made to take a beating. I eventually bought a Dremel and polishing compund, it took a while but that seemed to work. However I couldn't get the edges around the crystal. In the end as I had to get the watched serviced, I asked Domenico if he could remove the remaining AR as I had no idea how to remove the crystal from the case. My advice is to try removing the crystal and go downtown on it with a Dremel and some polishing compound. Might take a while, but it seems to be the only thing that worked for me.
  12. His website is www.jacksontse.com You'll have to e-mail him for prices, but he responds quickly and courteously.
  13. Based on what I've read here, it looks like a V3. I thought the V2 had the incorrect lumed hour indices and numerals. I'm sure the IWC experts can confirm or correct this.
  14. I'm a professional internet surfer. Though my paycheck seems to come from some IT consulting firm.
  15. You got me there... I actually bought the strap with the reasoning that if it was crap, I'd at least have an IWC buckle.
  16. If anyone is interested, here are some more pics. After reconsideration, the rep leather strap isn't too bad, just really stiff (and smells like both a plastic factory and tannery). I think I'll order a TWB buffalo strap tonight, still not convinced alligator print is my thing.
  17. I'm sure if you speak to me in a few months, I'll have one dangling from my wrists as well. Just need to try it out in person and talk myself into buying it... shouldn't be too difficult.
  18. Thanks! I guess I got lucky with the straight markers. I think PT's QC helps with ensuring that you get nice and functioning reps. The habit has already started, I already ordered Narikaa's PO even before the 3717 arrived and wondering am I going to order next. IWC seems to have some really nice models, just too bad my wrists are so small, so the Big Pilot is out of the question. Man my bank account going to hate me...
  19. If all my future purchases are this easy, this will be a very addictive (and expensive) hobby. Searching for a where to purchase my first rep, I found PT (Precious Time) as a reputable dealer that would ship in the EU. After reading the reviews about his services, I finally took the plunge on my first rep. I was always attracted to the simplicity and simultaneously, the complexity of the IWC 3717 Pilot Chrono. After doing some further research on the watch and reading the reviews I was convinced this would be the ideal first rep for me. PT was always extremely prompt with his communication, always replying within a few hours to all of my questions. I ordered the 3717 with both the bracelet and the leather band and it was delivered in two and a half weeks. The watch arrived yesterday, completely padded and wrapped in bubble wrap. After spending an hour resizing the bracelet, trying on the rep leather strap and switching back to the bracelet (it would have taken three as long without all the tutorials on this forum) I haven't been able to stop staring at it. The watch is just as its pictured in the numerous reviews here, the details just blow me aways. The engravings look great and the double AR coating looks nice. Even the date/day wheels look great (might still replace it with proper ETA ones). Up to now everything functions properly and all the chrono hands resets properly. its even been keeping its time +/- 2 secs, need to let it settle and see how it performs. My only gripes are that the bracelet clasp feels flimsy and that the rep leather strap feels like plastic, but it will be soon replaced by a strap from The Watch Boys. Attached is a quick and dirty phone camera picture. Will take further wrist shots when I get off work and upload them. Just a question to any of our Dutch members, I wonder if you know any watchmakers in NL that are willing to service/work on reps?
