Ok fellow modders, let's go prepare our filing and soldering tools!
-
Glad to hear that!
-
I agree totally with Sssurfer, when he says that the members who made a preorder with Mark, shouldn't buy from me.
Oops, I don't want to get misunderstood here.
What I actually said is that they should buy from Mark; and, if they want, also from you and Archibald:
I strongly hope that anyone who placed an order with Finepics on his datewheels will honour his word -- and naturally buy from Lello and Archibald too, if they like. -
Good to know. Thanks!
-
Personally I can't wait, after the good crowns collection I already have (Lello's, Palpatine's, Davidsen's, Homer's), to start a nice collection of datewheels too...
I too think that competition is good (especially to customers
).
Still, I also feel that orders placed when the starter is gauging interest, taking preorders, and so, are somewhat different from orders placed in a latter, established phase when the pieces have already been produced and they 'just' have to get sold.
Those first orders critically drive the maker on his economy choices, whether to carry on with the project or not, etc.
So I strongly hope that anyone who placed an order with Finepics on his datewheels will honour his word -- and naturally buy from Lello and Archibald too, if they like. I'll do it this way.
I would even encourage Lello, Finepics and Archibald on taking arrangements between them not to sell to anyone (if any) who steps back from a preorder to get the piece(s) from a different provider.

I'll try, and as a last resource I'll try a scratch test.
I'm quite surprised that this crystal came from China, I supposed Jimmy was US located.
I hope Jimmy is not selling his good reputation to some x-jewelry-type ebayer (btw, x-jewelry is no more a registered ebayer...).
I am not going to mount the crystal on a Jimmy's case, this was my first (and maybe last) purchase from Jimmy. But thanks for the advice!

#4.
Nice thread idea.

Similar here. Not for having spent all my funds, but for the no-paypal thing.
If it not were for WU, yesterday I would have pulled the trigger on one of these Pateks.
And I still did not find time to review all his today's offers!
Damn those asshats who made TTK scared with paypal!!

I may add that two AP RO that I recently got from Joshua also passed the test.

Congrats, Mark!
I just hope they are not planning to put some polonium into your dinner...

Hi all,
I just received a crystal from Jimmyzfu that he declares as sapphire.
Sill, I get contraddictory results from my testers: electric resistance tells glass, while thermal conductivity tells sapphire.
So far, electric resistance never failed on telling sapphire from glass, while thermal conductivity sometimes failed.
Had anyone any previous experience with these Jimmyzfu's crystals?

and others like sssurfer and thomasng too
First time I got a mention anywhere.
Thanks, Chronus!

What about a Glycine?
Large nice watches, gen not very expensive, anyone could afford one.
The extra large F104 (52mm!!):
My favourite KMU48 (48mm):
The more modern Lagunare (46 mm):
Or, for tiny wrists, the Ningaloo Reef (40mm):

I stumbled upon this and can't decide on its genuinity.
The overall look and AR are quite good, the numbers on the back look consistent, and the guarantee card correctly spells "certifiCato".
Still it lacks all other cards, and pics are not good enough to judge about the crown and cannon pinion.
I would say 90% gen, but what do you think?

After reading The Zigmeister's review of this movement, I...
Well, the result is amazing! Great work!
Pls also tell us something about that strap.
-
Yes, it's bad, but it can get even worse.
Just stay away from large black things like
<--------- this one.
And welcome aboard!

You might also want to look at the excellent Panerai 063 and 029, or if you prefer the Submersible case, the Arktos GMT and forthcoming North Pole.
Oh no, Clive, did you really have to inoculate this guy with the PAM curse?
Thanks for the suggestions Clive. Amazing I know but I had never heard of Panerai until I started browsing and I am definitely hooked on the style. I had looked at the PAM063 or 088. So what's the "panels" opinion on the ETA 2836-2 in the PAM063? I note that Panerai 088 can come with a 7750 movement. Is this another bastardization and if so is it any better than the 2836-2? (perhaps this is a little off-topic now)Here, he's done.
Welcome, PAM-damned fellow!

As fitmic said, ordering from an EU-located dealer will sooth your anxiety.
Else, simply 1) stay away from Belgium and/or 2) let the dealers choice your destination and carrier.
They know their job.
PAMs and IWCs are a little lesser risky than Polex and Kartier on customs issues too.
Btw, welcome!

Well, we already had the Luminor Urina and the Luminor Menstruation...
now we are served with APROs as well!

Removing the AR coating is slighlty above my abilities.
Just FYI, naphta and other petroleum-based solvents usually do the trick.
Common abrasive paste mixed with petroleum is even more effective (it won't scratch sapphire due to its hardness).
-
Wheaton, that thing that the watch is going slightly better with use suggests there might be just a problem with lubrication...
Why don't you try and have it serviced?
My 7750 050 (same as 049) stopped after 1 week. I had it serviced, and the watchsmith said it was just unbelievably dirty. A good cleaning and oiling, and it ran (and still it's running) like a gen.
-
I too bet they are on AR coating rather than on the sapphire surface.
While I recently discovered (the hard way) that some special silicate grinds may actually scratch (not polish) sapphire, I strongly doubt that scratches would look like dust spots in such a case.
Your best option is to completely remove the AR coating. If those spots disappear that way, then they will get confirmed not affecting the sapphire, and you may have the crystal AR coated again afterwards.

C'mon folks, with all those new Submersibles, Arktos and so out there, paid way over 200 USD, I can't believe that so few people are interested in getting a step towards perfection at a mere 25-30 USD!
And a step that is not merely aesthetic, but actually enhances the way you enjoy your watch. Date readability is not trivial, isn't it?
Pardon My Ignorance...

Well, there have been the (in)famous threads about the TRL...![;)](https://rwg.cc/datastore/emoticons/emoticons/default_wink.gif)
Yes, we were a bit too excited for the elegant, slow-paced TRC people!![](https://rwg.cc/datastore/emoticons/emoticons/default_laugh.png)
