  1. I am currently trying to put golden hands on a 104. I found that replacing hands is a nasty thing, so many pin sizes out there and you need exactly hands that fit on your movement. After some search, I have been told that the Asian auto 21J so common in Luminor Marina reps is a rep of the Miyota 82xx movement. Davidsen was so kind to declare that he will provide those hands for me. At least you can rely on the movement in your 183 is a 6497 (is it?). It being a very common movement, davidsen could be willing to help you as well. Why don't you try asking him?
  2. Actually, that has been my first bracelet (on my first online rep)! Maybe that was the reason 'cos I did not find so hard to figure out how a double button would work, when I first saw one...
  3. Please would you put me in contact with that AD employee? I have lots of watches to sell to him at very good prices. I'll just leave him judge on whether they are fakes or gens. BTW: I can hardly think of anyone using the term "syntetic sapphire" as a synonym for "mineral glass". Actually, the word "syntethic" is more redundant when referred to glass than to sapphire, and it is therefore more appropriate for sapphire than glass. Natural sapphire at least does exist, natural glass not. The simpler test is the fingernail test. Glass sounds more rich in higher harmonics, something like "ping" or "tinnk", while sapphire sounds short and sharp: "tuk" or "tok". I know this is unreliable and subject to issues like the bezel or the teflon ring at the base of the crystal. But on 6 PAM reps (3 sapphire and 3 glass) it worked 100% for me. By adding together the four non-invasive tests (color, temperature, water drop and fingernail) one can get quite a good idea of which matter he is facing. But the better test is that from Chronus, IMO. Brilliant. Just a bit biased on dealer's attitude, though.
  4. Oh, what a coincidence, I actually happen to be a physician. Total body radiation amount taken is not a reliable index of rad damage risk in a single given point. When one sleeps while wearing his watch, he has no control on where the dial goes and rests on his body. If he stays some hours with the crystal at contact with a sensible part like thyroid region, cancer induction is a (small) possibility. If he stays some hours with the crystal at contact with testicles, mutagenicity can occur (and it will affect the offsprings). This possibilities enhance by repeating over nights and nights along. With apologies for my English.
  5. Nothing is easier than breaking a stem while trying to unscrew it from the crown tube. Too late I discovered that it is sort of soldered to the stem with a small drop of some metal glue. On the other hand, if you broke it because of a too tight CG+lever, so that you now want to re-use your crown, take into account that removing the broken piece from the crown tube is a nasty task for that same reason.
  6. Self-reference (with apologies to Goedel): http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...5&hl=dlc&st=19# To anyone interested: you can't go wrong with finepics. His talent is second only to his seek for perfection.
  7. Thanks all for the infos. Enzo, I seem to remember that also some more recent models have the centred version. Ok, good subject for my next searches.
  8. Absolutely correct. In the gen on OP site that writing is NOT upside down. Anyone able to explain it?
  9. Lello seems to have greatly decreased his frequentation of the forums some time ago. As far as i know, he did not even subscribe to this new RWG, and the last time he connected to the 'old' RWG has been about 15 days ago.
  10. The metal of the movement and case should definitely protect your wrist. Just don't sleep with the watch on you, or near you, and keep the dial away from your thyroid and your balls.
  11. Great but painfully slow. Page downloading would speed up a lot by using thumbnails instead of resized full-size pictures in all pages but the 'final' page of any single watch. Obviously preparing thumbnails for hundreds watches will require additional time, but I strongly suggest this as the first improvement to go with. On a second thought, site slowness could reveal as the only thing preventing me from bankrupt. I already have been strongly tempted to pull the trigger on several watches by just looking at a few pages. To my surprise, I discovered that on several pieces Joshua is much less expensive than I thought. And the ability to read and compare prices, and to buy with a single click without bothering the dealer with enquires on 10 watches just to end up with buying 1, is easily going to drain wallet at light speed.
  12. River's 090 is very close to the gen. Its only minor flaw is a power reserve gauge slightly larger than in the genuine -- almost unnoticeable if one is not precisely looking for it.
  13. Amazing relume from finepics! I can't wait to have my 028 dial back after his relume (it already is on its way to me... come to me, baby, come to me...) And great work on your brushed CG too... If I only could find my screen magnifier, I would be more specific.
  14. Thanks RBJ. My watchsmith just pointed out that such a lever arrangement means that the watch movement and dial are closer to the crystal. Still, it does not seem related with lacking any need for additional clearance between the dial and the crystal, since it can also be found on models that have a date window and therefore a cyclops. Unsure on whether it can also be found on models with a long central seconds hand instead of small seconds. Quite an obscure topic so far, IMO...
  15. Thanks, avitt, this makes sense. I wonder if there is a way to know on which models the CG is that way. It seems a very noticeable rep-vs-gen feature, even more than recessed pin or crown thickness.
  16. Hi, I just noticed that on several genuine PAMs the CG lever is not placed at the center of the main axis of the CG, but quite asimmetrically, so that one of the two tracks (unsure how they are called in English) that the lever moves between is noticeably thinner than the other one. The thinner track is always the one on the dial side. I'm posting two CG closeups from gens, a 090 and a 180, that (I hope) will make easier to understand what I am saying. Apologies for low quality, I had to blowup them, but they should be enough to get the essentials. Does anyone know if this feature is based on models, which models have this kind of CG, or anything else that can make any sense of it? On my searches I was unable to find it. Thanks, :sss:
  17. Just for the sake of precision: 028 dial is hobnail rather than carbon fibre like 180. If you are EU located, finepics really does great works on reluming. The best way to get a PVD-like look on a case is getting it really [beadblasted and] PVD coated. Palpatine can do it, but he is taking a rest after suffering a familiar loss. You can also try asking finepics. Just consider that, as sennsi said, this would not bring you to a closer-with-genuine rep.
  18. I hope you just were not a member of RWG I. http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...showtopic=30804 http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...showtopic=26441 http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...showtopic=19502 http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...?showtopic=8440 http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...showtopic=29778 http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...showtopic=31046
  19. Brilliant idea! Then it should be something really special. Suggestions for a most pointless topic needed.
  20. ...is that here we aren't given the chance to get back to life a 2-years-old poll

  22. Congrats for your first work as a watchsmith! And for those beautiful timepieces as well! May I ask you who is the dealer of the blue one?
  23. Wow, impressive! Thanks for the cooperation.
  24. Same here. Just got a DJ with changed band for a friend of mine. Almost daily email exchanging without a problem.
