  1. r11co, I can assure you I'll never try to give out a rep for gen. Just, some of us (or me at least) like to try the feel and taste of the real thing -- without spending a fortune. In this view, there is no great difference between what you wear and what you have in your drawer. Someone said that the only difference between children's and adults' toys is their price. And this is one of those occurrences. BTW, thanks to all who gave their contribution.
  2. Some time ago I fell in love for gold hands PAMs, 127-203-217 style. But my wrist and the need for date prevented me from getting one of those models. Rather, I thought to put gold hands on a PAM104. And, thanks to Davidsen, I have been able to realize my project. Here are some pics. What do you think? The small second hand is a bit oversized (4.5 mm instead of 3.5). This was my fault, I told Davidsen a wrong size. A correct hand is currently on its way to me.
  3. GREAT! I just got 5 new pieces for my 'Worst PAMs Ever' collection! Thanks!
  4. Thanks, Mahler. I suppose PT stands for Precious Time, not Pure Time, correct? Too bad I already paid more than 100 bucks on my box & co. Can't think to get another just for that 'D'... ...or not?
  5. Joshua's and Andrew's seem identical under any respects, even about engravings on their casebacks. Exception made for the individual progressive number -- that is in fact supposed to be different.
  6. Hi TTK, welcome back. This is the 2nd occurrence of such a mindless behavior in a while -- the other being by someone that even stole my pics of my (low-cost!) 104 rep to post them on the Paneristi forum! I presume that you as a dealer are not supposed to reveal a buyer's name... but this is a special occasion indeed, something that could prove harmful to our whole community (if any)... so please just consider if you can share your suspect with the moderators. Thanks, sss
  7. Stunning investigation, Gran! Keep up with the good work!
  8. About sapphire: Some time ago I came to the conclusion that it is Andrew's dictionary to call 'sinthetic sapphire' for mineral glass, and 'sapphire' (only) for sapphire. Once you know it, it can't harm you. About Asian 21j vs Asian 7750: Naturally 7750 (or ETA 7753) is the only choice for chronographs. Chronographs excluded, i think that 7750 is better but it could stand for a $80-100 difference, no more than that.
  9. It has already been published on the New England Paneristi Journal on Metabolics (#421, Dec 2005, pp 64-67). They demonstrated that calcium intake is actually accounting for as low as 10% of the PAM and Reps Owners Small Wrist Syndrome (PROSWS) size. The remaining 90% being due to: lacking of Vitamine D income (25%), and expecially lacking of exposition to direct sunlight (65%). It appeared that PAM owners (and expecially Paneristi) do actually prefer to lurk in the darkness in order to have their Tritium, Luminova and Superluminova hands-and-marks looking brighter. Brief outcomes to sunlight seem only due to the need for L and SL recharge, while Tritium owners could make for a vampire's envy. About the psychological issues, there are concerns about relations between PROSWS and the evidence that OP actually produces large watches. Relations between this finding and masochism are currently under study, and preliminary results could be published in a few months.
  10. Hi people, I am sad to say that we are sold out after the very 1st week we posted our call for orders. Actually, 100 pieces went away like snow under the spring sun. Still, several members (expecially those who are offering their services about watch repair and/or modding) ordered multiple pieces, so chances are that it there will be quite a living market of these cyclopses when they will arrive. Besides of that, if these cyclopses will prove as good as expected, and if we see members' interest enough in the matter, we could perform a second run in short time. In order for it we need requests for 50 pieces at least (better 100), and with your requests we already are at about 15 pieces. It's also easy to suppose that, as soon as the members will start posting pictures of their watches with the new cyclopses on, we are going to get a rush of new orders. Many members are likely (and rightly) just waiting for the outcome of this first batch before coming out to the light and placing their orders. So keep up, don't give hopes out, stay tuned. Tell us how many pieces you would be interested in, if you like, but first of all let us all verify the outcome of this first run. All the best, :sss: P.S.: these cyclopses don't come with AR coating on them. Your choice is to mount them on crystals, and then have all AR coated. If you are interested, Finepics is offering this service.
  11. Absolutely. Imleg, if on the other hand you (like me) need the date window in your watch I would also suggest you consider a 104 or a 050. The 050 is probably the most accurate rep around. It does not even suffer of poor date magnification or thin crown. Just, many people do not take it into account because it is 40 mm. That 165 is also unconsistent in its polished finishing.
  12. Hi, that is not a 104. It seems a 165 without titanium, with a strap instead than a bracelet, with a smaller cyclops, thinner crown, and unconsistent engravings in the caseback. You may find the genuine here
  13. Ouphhh... there have been TONS of posts in German, French, Norwegian, Martian!... and we are bashed for just some lines in Italian... Or is it because that was RWG I and here is different? Ok, no prob, you'll have to swallow my horrible English again. Your choice. @MobileRules: you have PM.
  14. Finepics provides AR coating on crystals: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=3563
  15. Well, best wishes for your job, your transfer to the East, your drawings, watches, studies, and all. Just don't let too much time pass without lurking here again.
  16. In this particular case of rennwerkes, that is hardly going to make for a fix, since rennwerkes said that once the lever is locked in place everything is good. This is not a symptom of loose CG screws. That watch being the first PAM rep of rennwerkes, he was likely not already aware of the loose lever in 'open' position on all PAM reps.
  17. Andrew: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v738/the...eries%20Buckle/ Sichuan: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=2469 or, quite costly, but... http://cgi.ebay.com/PANERAI-CROC-DEPLOYMEN...1QQcmdZViewItem
  18. Yes, the scratch pen really provides excellent results. Too bad the Watch Boys are not offering it anymore. You can still find it here: Italian provider for scratch pen Just do wear rubber gloves when you use it, since it is made of glass fibers and it leaves LOTS of micro-splinters on your work table and your fingers...
  19. Levers seem rarer than virgins nowadays. Should you find a source, please let us know. You will have our neverending gratefulness.
  20. Hi dj, I read only good about PT, but he had been missing for a while. Did you get recent contacts with him? Edit: on a 2nd thought, I suppose you were referring to Precious Time while I was referring to Pure Time. No problem, I only read good things about Precious too.
  21. Ask The Zigmeister. At first I thought of a loose hand tube problem, but it seems unlikely to happen contemporarily on both hands, so it could be something more complex.
  22. You may fix the loose lever problem with a piece of insulation tube from an electric wire cable. I have just been able in getting such a fix. Tricky but possible.
  23. These clothes also work quite well: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Cape-Cod-Polishing-Clot...1QQcmdZViewItem I used them with my full appointment.
