  1. We were all Noobs at one time.. I'm still learning.. never ending.. so welcome to the best supporting forum on the net!! this is a great community.. you'll enjoy all of it I'm sure AC Lani
  2. Seems like a long time not to be 100 yet.. .. going in for another echo cardiogram this month,, that will tell the "tale o the tape" as far as the hearts recovery.. got anything interesting for our gen raffles K ?? L
  3. Been waiting for this one for awhile.. the new release from the Noob Factory .. different dials available.. Oh well the genuine is platinum... cannot replicate that.. but a classy look none the less.. I like the concentric rings on the dial and if this keeps time like my Milgauss .. I'll be happy.. more dials are available .. but I'll choose this one.. AC L
  4. the original appeared low due to the cone shape of the bezel insert.. once you replace the insert with a yuki's or Clraks it is flatter... the height of the crystal should be fine... as long as the Clarks fits.. good
  5. Portugese sausage... da bestest for breakfast
  6. We finally got some cooling trades back and the weather is cooling.. my fav time of year.. huh .. Omni?? it was stiflingly muggy before this nice north wind.. thank you Nanuq.. for sending it our way.. I have a long gratitude list.. simple but that is what makes life soooo gooood.. AC Lani
  7. I know I've harped on this before but IMO it is relevant.. You cannot refer to a ETA movement as "Swiss eta" unless it comes in the silver and black factory sealed package.. like the one you would get from Ofrei.. by Swiss federation law the ETA movement would have to be fully serviced by a Swiss certified Technician .. the brand companies acquired the eta movements and serviced them in house before installing them.. ETA movements are plentiful from a lot of watch parts vendors on the net. yet they are not "swiss eta's" they are still great movements as I have bought many ETA movements for my reps.. they are not "cloned"..ther is a huge price difference from an eta to a "swiss eta" .. no dealer can call their's a "Swiss eta" unless it comes from the factory sealed package.. look on Ofrei and you will see what it looks like...the eta's sold by watch parts vendors go for about half the price or less. it is important because although the ETA's are great .. they may still need servicing.. the "Swiss ETA" .. from ofrei is good to go outta the package as they have already been serviced at the factory,,.. our rep eta's have not been serviced by the Swiss Techs.. believe me it makes a big difference,...so don't expect an eta as those found in brand names..performance wise they still need servicing.. 8. I tried that last year, the results were no to my liking...... I want to get the insert on a jewelers buffing wheel with some white or green rouge and see the outcome.. that would work better then compounding by hand.. I think the next go around I'm going to thin out the solution from the get go and let it sit for a week.. so the bleach slows down for a more even look this is the same bezel after overnight in a milder solution I could actually keep more metallic if I didn't go so hard and kept the colour a little darker.. try again.. AC L
  9. I;d laugh but I empathize with the time spent... next go around will be perfect .. fingers crossed for ya SBF AC Lani
  10. Congrats on the new acquisition robertk !! I'll join TJ with the 1655 today
  11. I'm awaiting my return of a 202a project bead blasted and PVD'd by Panerai's source (the gen).. it went up North.. got a FGD dial and genuine OEM pvd kruzer crown.. can't wait to see the results AC Lani
  12. Ebay has eta7750's for around 350 half the price.. although Ofrei is "Swiss" meaning it is sealed in the factory package.. I buy my eta's from the bay.. their the same as Ofrei's but are not brand new factory sealed.. but great upgrades none the less.. but I don't install them until the A7750 has some wear on it..unless it's a grail watch then I'll have the swap done immediately.. AC Lani
  13. Thanks again A !!... my main concern now is getting one of the bezels on the the case... and sending the other back home.. I'll deal with the colour scheme after I get it back.. I'm sure there are some very good people over at the Orange forum... but some of the more famous ones don't frequent.. I'm accustomed to the camaraderie here I guess.. I'll report back after I drop my baby off.. AC R
  14. the Uv lamp sounds promising.. but I think you would need to add a mild corrosive solution to the insert before exposing it to uv.. salt water is alkaline but the insert is made for salt water.. anyway .. I have more inserts arriving from Nostalgia.. so as soon as I can I'll prep one for you.. AC R
  15. They will send it back to "sender" if you do not respond.. whatever you do ... don't lie to them.. that will certainly put you in their sights...usually watches are labeled gifts .. 30 usd.. contact the seller let him know what happened .. take it from there.. it will have "watch" on the declaration paper work ..so check with your seller before you make a move..you can't tell them now that it is worth xx amount of dollars they will surely open the package and are very aware of the value of the genuine article. it may have to come back to the seller and then be reshipped. if forced to deal with customs I would advise you say.. dunno must be a gift?? don't volunteer any information that would compromise your statement.. AC L
  16. just an fyi to the UV bulb.. it would take a very , very long time before you start seeing any results.. and the ultrasonic will surely get it clean but not "fade" the paint.. I see everyone "scouring" the insert.. not "fading" it.. TJ .. I'll do one for you and send it along with all your other goodies.. AC R
  17. one of the best but not widely popular.. the Graham Chronofighter Oversize... great reflective wave.. And the Paul Picot diver..... both watches not seen much now but great AR.. AC Lani

  19. @Nanuq.. yup.. I believe Arthur gave me a heads up.. I gotta look in the Doxa text book for the correct colouring.. but that is "manini".. (very small fish) "ainokea" .. "no bodda me" and yes.. the bezel is just resting on the funky bezel top... and yes.. O/S and Nanuq the thought has crossed my mind to use a fastener if need be .. and also an adhesive where the bezel can be readily removed if need be.. tomorrow can't come fast enough... and ... I couldn't help post a pic "ova there" with "2" bezels in the pic.. twenty something views.. no repies... thanks again guy's AC Lani
  20. Great choices Astro !!!!!! love um all This will add volumes to your collection AC Lani

  22. Same Dems.. I was raising my GF's boys for 5 years.. violence has become to desensitized with the games kids play.. At the time as a 'Dad" .. we played stuff like scabble.. their TV viewing was monitored.. we did a lot of outdoor stuff.. IMO..parents use the video games at times so they don't have to bother with the children.. a little of the proper games is ok.. but I never "allowed" them to be "controlled" by the violent games.. they went form D's in school to Honours... I'm proud to have been apart of that.. and the oldest had no friends and at the end of 5 years had kids whom were "good kids", coming around ... he was happy.. I myself miss them every single day.. but know that they will end up great people.. I was an "old school" disciplinarian, but they were my world, 24/7.. we used the playstation more for DVD's
  23. My humble modded MBK..
  24. Clorox and acetone.. but I've learned that after 12 hours of undiluted Clorox and acetone the solution need to be thinned with water.. and the process slowed down so the metallic in the insert is not removed... it's important to note that oxygen plays a big part ... when you remove the insert from the solution and it hits the air.. the oxygen reacts with the Clorox and your inset will lighten immediately.. So what you need to do ... instead of removing the insert ... run the container under running water ... so the insert is not exposed to pure air.. after about 5 minutes of flushing the container with the insert in it.. then remove the insert from the container.. that way you won't get the "flash" of oxidation to the colour.. then on the next go around with the same insert dilute the mixture 1 part to 3 parts water.. slowing down the process so it will colour more evenly.. I could kick myself now .. before I attempted to get a lighter colour the insert had a nice silver metallic to it..kind of a Pearline essence to it.. the negative is that I've found not any 2 after market inserts react the same.... or have the metallic to them.. I hope that I didn't just get lucky and run into the one and only. I have a few more .. I need to take the images in the sunlight though as they look good .. but appear darker with the camera pics.. AC Lani
  25. xhusj jdunekelkeo kdi jdido,......I have no friggin clue as to what your all talking about..sounds like jibberish ta me.. when kids can beat me playing video games.. I'll stick to the gym.. L
